Section 6 The Holy City

The information provided by the butler was undoubtedly accurate. Before entering the city, Ashu Rufat felt the taste of the festival - the location at the gate of the city was filled with some unfinished fancy decorations.

The weather was still very hot, but it could not stop the crowds from coming and going. Ashu Rufate's sight, he saw at least four city gates, but there were many people entering and leaving each city gate.

A tax officer blocked the convoy with a few sweaty guards and naturally demanded taxes (basically, cities on major transportation routes make money). Leader Kris presented the letter of introduction, but it had no effect. These subordinate officials did not know who wrote the letter of introduction, let alone who it was written to.

"Twenty copper coins per person, eighty copper coins per horse, and thirty silver coins per car!" The tax official reported the price, which made Captain Chris gasp. It was okay, the tax on this car was too outrageous.

"Sir, but our cars are not in the city for business." She tried hard to make things easier, but maybe because the weather was too hot, the tax officer was in a very bad mood at this moment.

"Everyone, horse and car are at the same price. If you can't pay, get out of here and don't get in the way!"

As a last resort, Commander Kris had to order a turn around and camp in a small shaded bush after leaving the city for a short distance. After the camp was arranged, she summoned all the people in the team.

"I want to go into the city to find the deacon of the church!" she announced. "I will come back tomorrow at the latest, so I will have a temporary holiday in the past two days. It doesn't matter if you want to take this opportunity to go into the city, but you have to take care of the expenses of entering the city!" Then she directly pointed out the names of several people and asked them to be responsible for various matters of the camp.

That being said, but not many people want to enter the city. Because everyone knows that as long as Captain Chris finds a relationship, they will undoubtedly enter the city. Why do you have to go in advance? Moreover, the weather is so hot and the sun is scorching, and going to the city at this time is really a test of physical strength and endurance.

"Xia Ye, go with me!" Captain Chris thought for a while and brought another person.

"Master, now is a good time for us to leave the troupe." Carrie suggested after Chris and Bambi left.

Indeed, the agreed reward has been received and the place has arrived, and Captain Chris's order has just provided an opportunity, and it is indeed time to leave.

He left the camp and rode his horse towards the city gate. The tax officer glanced at his nightmare horse for a few times, but did not ask any annoying questions after collecting the money.

"Master, although we have already taken concealment measures on it, you'd better be careful. Someone may see through the dark magic breath of nightmare. So try not to attract attention."

After entering the city, Ashrufate immediately began to walk with his horse. He knew that his Nightmare Horse had begun to change. It had already appeared a characteristic like a truly "living" horse, and no longer completely mechanically obeyed him as early as he did. Even if he tried his best to help the Nightmare Horse suppress the black magic breath, this made Nightmare feel uncomfortable and resisted from time to time.

If a magician, or a person who has such training and possesses supervisual magic (Carry calls this ability "spiritual vision" and anyone who has enough training can possess it) walks behind him for a while and you will notice the black magic energy on the horse. If he is aroused of curiosity, he will observe that the horse is not a normal creature.

"By the way, since the holy objects have been sent to the underground of the Great Temple, have we missed them lost the opportunity to witness the holy objects with our own eyes?" Ashu Rufat didn't want to continue discussing the issue of the archbishop's private life.

"I'm afraid yes. After all, it's up to chance to witness the creation of the gods. However, in the square in front of the temple, there are statues of holy objects. Although they are much smaller than the real thing, you can make up for your regrets there."

Ashu Rufate left the tailor shop and found out the location of the temple without much effort. He noticed that the patrol was patrolling the streets in the heat. In order to prevent accidents, he led the nightmare horse to the alley.

I turned around and arrived at the square... I don't know what the holy object was, but Carrie seemed very eager to go and see... Ashu Rufat thought, and suddenly he heard an unusual sound, which was the clanging sound of metal impact, and there were many, indicating that a whole group of people running in metal armor were approaching him. Is it a soldier?! A whole group of soldiers?!

It shouldn't be seen through...it shouldn't be...but the uneasiness in his heart made him reach out and hold the handle of the sword.

Then he saw a black shadow pounce at him, so fast that he didn't even have time to draw his sword.
