Chapter 26 Weird Canyon

The red sun quietly poked out from the edge of the canyon. Before most of the darkness in the canyon had completely receded, the quiet canyon woke up amid the rough shouts of orcs.

Amid the orcs' scolding, the ragged and skinny human slaves walked out of the simple wooden houses.

Each slave had heavy shackles on his hands, and his expression was numb, slowly walking towards a steaming shed.

No one speaks or looks up. He just walks forward mechanically. If he doesn't turn his eyes from time to time, he will even mistakenly think that this is a walking corpse.

On the short distance from the wooden house to the shed, there were dozens of orcs holding sticks and long whips standing, with fierce eyes staring at these zombies-like slaves.

At the entrance of the shed was a large basket of wooden bowls. Each slave would bend over to pick up a bowl when he walked by. At this time, there was a hint of anger in their eyes.

Next to it are two huge steaming iron pots, and the pot is so dark that it is not known what it is?

There were two human men standing next to the iron pot. Although Ren was also a slave to orcs, neither of them was in shackles, and the clothes on their bodies and the expression on their faces were obviously much better than others.

Each of them held a wooden spoon in their hands and served a spoonful of black food from the pot for each slave holding a wooden bowl.

The human slaves kept walking, holding wooden bowls and began to suck the food inside.

From the shed to the mine cave under the cliff, these slaves not only ate everything but even licked the wooden bowl.

Two human men stood at the entrance of the mine. They stepped forward and took back the wooden bowls from each slave's hands and put them in a large basket next to them. Then they used the key to untied the shackles on their hands, handed them a pickaxe and a basket, and the slaves walked into the pit with things.

From being woken up in the early morning to entering the mine, the whole process is no more than ten minutes, and these human slaves are squeezed like livestock.

Cruel?

On the other hand, the human race also treats orc slaves with the same means!

In the shadow under the cliff on the other side, a pair of eyes stared at everything in front of him.

Despite the opposition of Jose, Monkey and others, Arthur chose to take the risk of sliding down the canyon from the cliff to find out.

After the human slaves entered the mine one after another, the orcs in charge of guarding and supervising gradually relaxed. Except for seven or eight who were responsible for staring at the entrance of the cave, the other orcs gathered under several sheds to start eating.

What the orcs eat is real food, large pieces of jerky and meat mixed with minced meat, and even several dishes of seasoned wild vegetables.

The people in charge of serving were still those human men. They moved the table and served the porridge and food. The whole process was nodding and bowing, and their faces were full of respect. In the end, they were just some leftovers from the orc bowl.

The once strong warrior now has to live in a servile way.

Arthur also understood them when he was sad for these people. Arthur, who walked out of the orc camp, had experienced everything they had experienced now. In order to survive, people would do whatever they could, flatter orcs, and betray their own people. All this was just to survive, and even just a little better than other people who were slaves.

But in the end they will eventually find that no matter how they do it, the final result is still death, but they only live a little longer than others. No one like Arthur can escape from the orc camp by chance.

After serving the orcs for meals, the men patroled the wooden house of the human slaves. They lifted two corpses out of the wooden house, threw them into a large pit a little further away, and sprinkled a few shovels of soil mixed with gravel and buried them.

Even Arthur, hiding in the dark, couldn't help but sigh. He could see clearly that one of the two "corpses" was still struggling slightly while being lifted.

But in the eyes of these men, he was dead, and if he lost his ability to work, he would lose the value of living with the orcs, and death was the final outcome.

After packing up the bodies, the men returned to the shed to continue preparing food. Although they didn't have to go down to the pit to mine, they were also not idle for a moment.

When noon approached, human slaves walked out of the mine cave one after another. The slaves came to the shed to carefully remove the ore from the basket. Each of them did not get much, that is, three or five pieces of silver ore the size of fists.

Orcs will distribute food and water to slaves based on the amount of ore handed over to them, and basically exchange a piece of ore for a piece of ore of almost the same size.

The hungry slaves swallowed the fist-sized dumplings, and the harvest they had only been the same as the morning's harvest was barely exchanged for a satisfying hunger.

The slaves who switched to food continued to return to the mine, and they had to start working for the next meal, day by day, round and endless.

Orcs didn't have to go down to mines to manage them. They just needed food to firmly control these human slaves to mine for them honestly.

When the handed ore was enough to save a small cart, a stove in the middle of the canyon was suddenly lit, and a solid and sturdy dwarf walked out of the low wooden house beside the fire.

The dwarf was about the height of Arthur's chest, with high cheekbones, thick eyebrows, red nose, long gray beard and knotted, and he was already quite old.

The dwarf stretched and shouted loudly, "Where is my meat and wine?"

A human man ran over quickly with a tray, with a pot of wine and a large piece of meat on it.

The dwarf first picked up the wine pot and poured it on, drank the wine completely, wiped his mouth before getting the meat on the tray, but his mouth was still complaining, "The orc's wine is really hard to drink!"

"There are dwarves here!" Arthur, who was hiding in the dark, was completely shocked. He had not focused on the stove in the middle of the canyon before.

The dwarves' territory is in the northernmost direction of the Belland continent, and partially borders the Rocky Mountains of the Sky Eagle Tribe and the Necrotic Highlands of the Holo Kingdom, the northernmost part of the human race.

Although the dwarves' territory is not completely forbidden to enter other intelligent races like elves, it is relatively closed and independent. There are very few traces of dwarves in the territory of other races.

This sinking canyon is full of strange things. Not only do so many human slaves are imprisoned, but extremely rare dwarves also appear in the canyon. The food and equipment that guards the orcs and their bodies are far stronger than the ordinary warriors in the orc army, and almost equivalent to the equipment and treatment of the core guard warriors of the clan leader of the large tribe.

Is this just an ordinary mine cave?
