Zhejiang school
Lin'an was established in the Southern Song Dynasty, and Lin'an became the political and cultural center of the time. Most famous zithers were in this area, called Zhejiang School. Their zither was called "Zhejiang School", which was different from the previous "Jiangxi Collection". Among the Zhejiang School, Zhang Yan's zither Guo Chuwang achieved the greatest achievements. He inherited and developed traditional zither music, and some distinctive zither music creations were taught to Xu Tianmin and Mao Minzhong through his student Liu Zhifang. Since then, the art of zither music in the Zhejiang School has always influenced the Yuan and Ming dynasties.
The zither world in the Ming Dynasty was mainly divided into two schools: Jiang and Zhejiang. The Zhejiang school inherited the tradition of Xu Tianmin in the Southern Song Dynasty. For example, Huang Xian, the editor of Wugang Qin Tu, and Xiao Luan, the editor of Xingzhuang Taiyin Supplement. They were all known as the "Xumen Zhengzhi". The preface to "Feng Xuanxuan Pin" said: "There are two generations of Cao in the world, saying: Zhejiang Cao Xumen, Jiang Cao Liumen". However, in terms of influence, the two schools are not balanced. Among them, Zhejiang School published many collections of scores and taught a large number of students. Liu Zhu introduced the specific situation in "Silk Tong Pian": "There are three piano Caos that have been learned in modern times: Jiang, Zhejiang, and Fujian. There are no one or two people who have learned Fujian Cao, ten or three, four, and ten or six or seven people who have learned Zhejiang Cao. According to the second Cao, Zhejiang Cao is the best, and the sound of the river Cao is more cumbersome; Zhejiang Cao is more smooth, and it is more clear and wise than Jiang Cao.
