Section 8 Questions
"Drop off the horse first!" The bearded man ordered. Ashu Rufate knew that although his answer could not be said to satisfy the other party, it did not arouse the other party's hostility. He turned over and dismounted as he said, then untied his sword and hung the sword on the saddle. After doing this, he raised his hand again and signaled that he was unarmed.
"Follow us." The bearded man came to his side to better supervise him. "Your horse stays here!"
Ashu Rufate did not resist and acted on his own terms.
The last lurker also came out, and the five people discussed in a low voice and finally formed a column. One person led the way in front, and the other four followed behind Ash Rufate. Two people holding longbows walked at a very suitable distance. Once Ash Rufate had any abnormal movement, they could attack with their bows and arrows. Of course, this idea must be based on "Ash Rufate is an ordinary person."
Mimilu didn't show up, but she would follow. Mimilu was very smart and would not mess up the scene.
Another problem appeared in front of us. When Ashu Rufate met Baron Pinold, what should he do? Talk about the past... Do they have an old relationship? Show their identity directly? Or observe patiently first?
"Master, I think, the ideal thing is to do some kind help." In my mind, Carrie suggested. "Baron Pinold may recognize you immediately, that would depend on luck. But if he does not recognize you at a glance, then you'd better do something to show your kindness first."
"What should we do?" Ashu Rufate did not intend to travel thousands of miles to serve Baron Pinold. His plan was to form an alliance, rather than become the other party's subordinate.
"Specific... I can only take a step at the moment and evaluate Baron Pinold's power first. No matter what, please prepare for the battle." Carrie said.
This time, finding Baron Pinold so easily was actually beyond Ashu Rufate's expectations. He was conceiving a future plan all the way, so he didn't care much about the matter along the way. When the leader in front shouted "arrived", Ashu Rufate realized that he had arrived at Baron Pinold's lair.
If you are not mistaken, this should be an ancient tomb.
Time and weeds jointly annihilate this ancient building in this mountain. The tomb was built against the mountain. The outer edge of the tomb was once a grand building, but at this moment, only by struggling from the dense pastures to reveal a little white marble pillars meant that this was a human building, not a natural creation.
They walked behind a bush, and there was an entrance that could only accommodate a pile of stones. The leader walked in first, and Ashu Rufate followed behind. After walking a few steps, he felt the tunnel widening. They drilled into a square space, and then Ashu Rufate found that the sun shone down from a skylight. In fact, there was a whole row of skylights here, which made the underground tomb not lacking in light. However, Ashu Rufate could not tell whether it was originally available or just dug in recent years.
"Who!" Someone in front of them stopped them. "Correction!"
"A friend." The person who led the way replied. After giving this answer, they continued to move forward. The place was much larger than expected, enough for hundreds of people to camp, and perhaps thousands of people were enough. Ashurufat saw some unknown symbols on the floor tiles. From this vast interior space, the murals around (mostly faded, but they can barely be distinguished), and the sculptures that could be seen by chance. Finally, with this luxurious floor tiles, it is probably the tomb of an ancient king.
Ashrufate saw many people along the way, all wrapped in cloaks or blankets, lying on the ground to rest. Their arrival did not wake up these sleepers, and the snoring sounds echoed in the underground world.
A very ideal hideout. When Ashrufate thought so, he saw his leader stopping, and then a door appeared in front of him. This was the only door they saw along the way. This was not the stone door of the tomb, but a wooden door that had obviously been installed for two years. If you are not mistaken, the deepest part of the tomb should be inside the wooden door.
Ashu Rufate noticed that the others who had just escorted him stopped and had no intention of moving forward. Only the bearded man walked past Ashu Rufate and reached out to push the door.
"Master...does you feel it?" Carrie asked in her mind.
"Well." Ash Rufate replied, the breath of black magic can be clearly felt in this place. Because in this underground tomb, it is naturally the condensation place of black magic. This means that users who are hiding in it are likely to be hiding in it.
Baron Pinold is inside.
"Master, please try to lower your head and don't face it head-on..." Carrie's voice sounded a little uneasy.
"With such a head lowering, it's just a little bit of hiding!" Ashu Rufate replied in his mind. "Why do you have to bow down for such a little bit of possibility?"
The door was pushed open. Ash Rufate followed behind the bearded man and walked into the last hall that made the ancient kings sleep.
"Why are you here? Who are you bringing?"
"That's how it is..."
Ashrufate didn't care about the bearded question and answer. He looked around the room and saw that the whole room was made into a conference room. The original coffin had long been taken away, and at this time there was a long table in the middle of the room - slightly smaller than those used by the nobles, but longer enough. Several people sat next to the long table, a magic lamp was in the center of the table, and the trembling blue-white light illuminated the people beside the table.
Before he came in, there seemed to be a meeting being held. Ash Rufate's eyes swept through every participant and did not find his own goal. Everyone here looked ordinary humans, without the most obvious feature of vampires - the fangs that raised their lips.
Of course, Ashu Rufat knew that vampires could actually retract canine teeth freely, or even retract back to the size of humans. But even if the fangs were aside, there was no Baron Pinold among the people here - even if he read it wrong, Carrie would recognize it.
On the first one on the left was a pale young man sitting, and there was nothing worth noting except his pale face and a nervous look. There were a few people around the young man, some old and young, but from his expression, it can be seen that they were not the protagonists of the meeting. On the right was a man in leather armor. This man was not outstanding in appearance, but there was a sense of vigor that could only be produced by battles between his eyebrows and eyes, and he looked very much like an experienced mercenary.
A faint aura of black magic filled the air, but Ash Rufate couldn't see where the source of this black magic was for a while.
"So you brought him?" At this time, the question and answer with the beard had ended. The main questions were asked by the mercenaries. The pale young man only asked one or two, while the others did not speak. In other words, these two people were in charge here.
Baron Pinold doesn't seem to be here. Of course, Asu Ruffat is actually mentally prepared for this. After all, it was just a team last night, so it was normal that Baron Pinold was not led by himself.
"Yes." The bearded man replied. The mercenary waved and signaled him to leave.
"You said you admire Baron Pinold?" The mercenary turned his gaze to Ashu Rufate. Judging from his tone of speaking, he seemed to think Ashu Rufate's reason was very nonsense, but his expression seemed to agree with this reason.
"That's right." Ashu Rufate replied.
"Then, give me some evidence to prove that you are not a spy sent by the church or someone else." The mercenary's voice was mixed with obvious hostility. "If you can't come up with evidence, then give me a reason not to kill you."
"I'm here alone, the best evidence." Ashu Rufate shrugged, "If I were a spy, then there would definitely be a large group of people behind me. Even if there were no large group of people, there would be a few companions."
"I think if you are a spy secretly arranged by the church, then there is a great possibility that you will do this on purpose to break into our internal affairs." The mercenary was not convinced. He stood up, his eyes fixed on Ashu Rufate's face like a blade.
"Master... this person has traces of biochemical transformation." In his mind, Carrie reminded.
"Is it the Holy Knight, the church's person?" Ashu Rufate was shocked, but immediately denied this judgment. It was impossible that he was a church member. Baron Pinold would never compromise with the church. However, Carrie's judgment was not wrong. She could only understand that the mercenary was a Holy Knight, but now for some reason, he was sent to Baron Pinold's subordinates.
This place may not be an old nest, but just a stronghold. Ashu Rufate thought of this absent-mindedly.
"Can't answer?" The mercenary's tone became very stern.
"Wait a minute." A voice came from behind, and then a man walked up from behind Ashu Rufate, "This one should not be a spy from the church."
After seeing who the visitor was clearly seen, Ashu Rufate was really a little surprised this time. The person who came in was "Golden Finger" Neil, the bard who had met him in Oren City and met again in the tavern last night.
Neil's dress was no different from last night, and he even held his harp in his hand. He walked over Ashu Rufate and sat down at the table. From his extremely natural movement, it was obvious that this person was a member of the place.
"Are you so sure?" The mercenary looked at Neil with his eyes squinted.
"I've seen him in Oren City... yes, Ashu Rufate." Neil's second half said to Ashu Rufate. "Don't do this, Cade. I can't guarantee the rest, he is certain that he was not sent by the church."
"You've been back from Oren for a long time." The mercenary, or in his official name, Cade, questioned. "Things will change over time. For example, after you leave, he is hired by the church? And even if it's not the church, it may be sent by a country."
"Oren City has no concern about the matter of Sivania, that is, ours." Neil replied. "So it is impossible for him to come from there. Not to mention that the city of Orren has been turned into a complete ruin by the green skin, and has even been taken over by the Shem people. As for the others, Ashu Rufate came to Sivania through the dragon-with-the-dragon mountain road more than ten days ago. As long as he is an official, it is impossible to go to that dangerous road... that is a gambling life."
This wording was powerful, so Cade stopped talking.
"Ashu Rufate, why do you want to come to Baron Pinold?" Neil asked.
