Section 24 Flying Arrows
Chapter 24 Flying Arrow
"I guess you know this thing?" The wizard gently flipped his head crown with his fingers. Although Claire tried hard to hide her anxiety, her face turned pale. This thing should not appear here, nor should it appear in this negotiation. This shows two things. First, the other party already knows the existence of her tribe. In other words, the other party probably has discovered the plan of Asowen Fisherman Deli. Second, the other party already knows that she is not a witch, and even knows her purpose and true identity.
Ashu Rufate gently touched her from behind, and then brought Claire back to reality from his absent-minded state. She looked forward, the Chaos Wizard with a malicious smile on her face. She looked around and saw that this was the central area of the camp of the Hunter Tribe. Because of the preparation for war, there were armed warriors going back and forth outside. There were thousands of these people.
Dead! This thought suddenly jumped out of her mind. It was so huge and cannot be ignored that it occupied the vast majority of her thinking field.
Claire opened her mouth, but her throat was so dry that she couldn't speak.
"Lady..." Chaos Wizard softly reminded. Everyone here, including him, noticed Claire's loss of composure.
"We've seen this thing on the road." This time, the person who spoke was Ashu Rufate.
It must be said that Claire is still too young after all. Although Ashu Rufate guessed that this thing was Claire's old thing, it also shows from the other party's expression that things are not that dangerous.
Because the strength of the two sides is absolutely asymmetry. As mentioned earlier, there are only about 300 young people in Asowen's tribe who can fight (this is thanks to the annexation of the terror war gang), and the number of warriors in the Hunter tribe is at least ten times that of this number. In addition, whether it is the number of wizards or the level of leaders, the Hunter tribe has an absolute advantage.
At this point, there is actually no need to play any tricks. Because there is no need at all. If the other party exposes Claire's identity, things will become very simple. At most, the other party will tease them (just like a cat playing with a mouse), and then directly order to take action, and put three guys who come to the door to cheat on the spot, and take a cart of armor as a spoil. If they are willing, they can immediately launch an army that Asovin cannot fight against to completely eliminate the small tribe that is bold and unstoppable but weak.
However, the other party did not do this. This clearly shows that although they act like they know everything, they actually don’t know anything. Or, at most, they just have some doubts.
Of course, at this moment, Ashu Rufate could not tell Claire about his reasoning, so he could only take the initiative to come forward and help her.
“On the road?”
"Well..." Ashu Rufat quietly poked Claire's back with his finger. "In fact, he saw a strange witch. She was wearing this crown on her head."
Ashu Rufat regretted after he finished speaking. Alas, if Ajin was present, he would never tell such stupid lies. Ajin always told the truth and lies rarely (especially when swearing, Ajin never lies), but he just mastered the ability to mislead others with the truth. The key to this ability is to observe words and expressions. Ajin is the kind of person who is good at finding details and making good judgments.
"A strange witch? When?" The other party indeed beat the snake and followed the stick and continued to ask.
What Eshu Rufate could say ended here. He touched Claire's back again and signaled to the other party to answer.
Fortunately, at this critical moment, Claire finally woke up. Whether this is the result of rational logical reasoning or an instinctive reaction, she gave a suitable answer.
"I can't remember what happened several days ago. Moreover, it seems to have nothing to do with our trade." Claire replied.
"I thought," the other party replied with a smile. "This trade can effectively enhance the friendship between our double-aggressive counter-attacks."
"In short, there are some things that are inconvenient to say." Claire returned to the right path. No matter how the other party hints, she only had one answer, "I can't say it." In this way, the matter turned into a dog biting a turtle - there was no way to stop talking. After all, the Wanzha Hunter tribe is not very strong in terms of strength, and there are strong enemies to deal with, but we cannot risk offend another powerful tribe. Yes, this witch represents only a detachment, but...not to mention the Wanzha Hunter tribe, even a terror-abusing champion warrior (of course, it means a slightly normal mind rather than those lunatics), he would not provoke another originally irrelevant enemy on the eve of such a life-and-death battle.
In the end, this matter was abandoned. The other party became very alert, but did not do more - except for verbal threats and hints.
Finally, after realizing that nothing could be obtained, the Chaos Wizard finally said goodbye. While instructing his men to work at the price proposed by Claire - the one mentioned above to exchange so much armor into a car of jerky - and leave. After confirming that he walked out of the tent and did not intend to turn around, Claire was truly relieved again.
Then she heard the Chaos Wizard talking outside the tent.
It was hard to say what he said, but every word he said was surprisingly clear. Some kind of energy churned and condensed in the tent, and then, like a river water poured out/out of the gate, indescribable energy rolled in this direction.
Claire subconsciously understood what this was. This was a check on her identity by the Chaos Wizard, a magic that had no lethality. As long as it was a witch - no matter how many levels it was - could easily block this energy with the same magical power.
But she couldn't do it.
Her hands were spasming. Was this scam game finally exposed? While she was thinking about this in despair, the wizard outside the door left.
Of course, the tribal warriors outside did not rush in.
A few minutes later—those few minutes were even harder than barbecuing on fire—a few people from the Hunter Tribe came in and reported to them that the goods were loaded. Chaos did not have much boring etiquette, so they spoke much more directly than those in the South. The meaning of these people was that Claire and his people could leave.
This is not a trap or a vicious game, as mentioned earlier, because it is completely unnecessary.
What happened just now? Claire was still confused when he walked out. She was very sure what magic tricks the Chaos Wizard used (and it should be to judge whether she was a real witch). But what happened?
She didn't feel anything special, nor could she do anything. What went wrong? Her eyes finally stopped on the brooch on her chest.
Since she did not do anything, either the wizard made a mistake or some other power worked. Of course, the possibility of the wizard making a mistake was too low. The only explanation was that some kind of power helped her. And this magical item made by her mother... seemed to be the most likely object.
During the whole way back, Claire was carefully looking at the magic item.
Their way back was closer than they were. This was because they didn't need to go around intentionally (the hunter tribe did not follow). But no matter what, it took them too long to do this day. When it was dark, they set up a small camp in a corner sheltering wind.
The content of the dinner was a tortoise caught by Ashu Rufate. Although this animal is slow to move, it is extremely difficult to capture because it has a shell of the same color as the rock and has a keen sense of vibration. Because they can disguise themselves as rocks with their talent conditions, thus avoiding the hunter's eyes. In fact, once they feel the ground vibration when large creatures approach, they will do this. Even if you turn the rocks one by one, it will be difficult for you to distinguish this turtle from the real stone.
But this was not a difficult task for Ashu Rufate. He easily found the tortoise among a pile of rocks and turned it into dinner.
The meat of this animal was quite delicious after being cooked, and even Ashu Rufate ate some. It was a bit strange that he didn't need to eat, so he seldom eat. But no one noticed this, whether in Groney or in the Chaos Tribe. Perhaps it was because this matter was too incredible that people wouldn't be suspicious of this at all.
"It's very delicious, it's a rare delicacy." After eating one of his own, Claire couldn't help but praise it. This southerner named Ashu Rufate is really good in all aspects. In addition to his weak mind, he can simply be praised for "perfection". "Do you know, as long as you... are not that weak, you may be able to become the Chaos Lord."
To this praise, Ashu Rufate just shrugged. "Lord of Chaos? What's the point of being there."
His words surprised Claire a lot. Even if she is a person who has always been recognized as having potential, her greatest ideal is to become a Chaos champion. She has never even imagined the higher Chaos Lord. And this southerner actually...
"Do you know what the Chaos Lord means..."
"I know, I have a large number of subordinates, calling the wind and rain, dominating the side." Ashu Rufat smiled. "But I really don't care. I'm there... well, the south, the same is true..."
His voice suddenly stopped because a "whoosh" sound came with a wooden pole around the bonfire.
The front section of the wooden pole was inserted into the ground, and the tail end was exposed outside, trembling slightly. This was an arrow.
Someone shot an arrow at the bonfire at a distance. However, it can be judged that his target was not to hurt people with an arrow, because the arrow hit the ground very shallowly, which means that the force was exhausted. This arrow came from the limit distance of the bow range, and no one could accurately hit the target. Not to mention from the angle of the arrow hitting the ground, it can be seen that the arrow was shot from the upwards.
