Chapter 442 The simplest answer

When Peter returned home listlessly, Aunt May had already been waiting on the sofa in the living room. Today she did not come up to ask questions as enthusiastically as usual, nor did she keep busy in the kitchen saying "Should you wait for dinner to be ready soon."

Today she was just sitting there with a blue face and holding her arms, with her face full of big words "I am not good at coming".

The atmosphere is very stiff.

"Peter." She pointed to the empty seat next to her, "We have to talk."

Peter hesitated for a moment and sat down on the sofa.

Although he was in a bad mood and didn't want to talk about anything, he rarely disobeyed Aunt Mei's intentions. Besides, he roughly knew what Aunt Mei's posture was, and he thought that he couldn't escape this conversation.

After a few seconds of silence, Aunt Mei spoke: "The principal called me. They said you didn't go to school yesterday, and you even fell off from school probation today. Is that true?"

"Yeah." Peter had no intention of denying it at all. Even if he denies it at this time, it would be meaningless.

"Do you mind sharing the reasons?"

"Nothing." Peter said irritably, "just don't want to go."

"Don't want to go?" Aunt Mei was obviously angry, "Do you know what you are talking about?"

"I know. But I just don't feel in the mood, okay? I'm not in the mood to deal with the messy things in the school."

Aunt Mei said earnestly: "Child, I was also at your age, and it is normal for me to be a little upset. But you have to learn to deal with these things, and if I am still here, I will hope."

"But he is gone!"

Peter was surprised that he had said this, but he said it, and it was very loud.

Yes, Uncle Ben is no longer here and can no longer give him more teachings.

Uncle Ben told him that "the greater the ability, the greater the responsibility." He has always used this as his criterion and creed for his actions. He once thought that this principle was very simple, and that it was nothing more than using his extraordinary abilities to do things that ordinary people could not do. To put it simply, it was to help good people and attack bad people.

But today, he found that he could no longer tell who is good and who is bad.

If Uncle Ben is still here, he still has many questions to ask. If it were Uncle Ben, he would definitely give the correct answer.

But he shouldn't have said this to Aunt Mei. Aunt Mei was already a little shocked. She never expected that Peter, who had always been well-behaved, would be so out of control.

Peter threw down his schoolbag, stood up and walked out.

"Wait a minute, Peter"

But he didn't stop. He quickly went out and disappeared in Aunt Mei's vision for a moment.

Peter was in a bad mood and began to feel that his choice was wrong.

In fact, he is still confused about the registration bill and other things. He is not particularly clear about what these abstract policies mean. He agreed to register because Mr. Stark agreed, so he agreed.

In fact, he did not resist the registration bill itself. If the superiors asked everyone to register, they would just register. Anyway, they should do whatever they should do, and some even paid them wages and allowances. But what really made him disgusted was the attitude of everyone, including Stark, towards those unregistered people.

He felt that it was inappropriate when he said he wanted to hunt down the Avengers led by Captain America, and then all of this happened to Gwen made him unable to start to doubt.

The sunset gradually set, and only the last ray of afterglow remained in the sky. Peter sat alone on the roof, staring at the gradually disappearing sun, his mind was in chaos.

"Mind that I'm sitting here?"

The girl's crisp voice brought him back to reality. Peter turned around and found that Gwen had arrived on the roof without knowing it. Today, she was also wearing casual clothes, wearing a refreshing short-sleeved T-shirt and denim shorts, and her golden hair seemed to shine in the sunset.

"Gwen!" Peter stood up in shock, "You, you." He subconsciously looked around and lowered his voice, "Is it really okay for you to appear like this? I may still be under surveillance."

"It's okay, Stark isn't staring at you now." Gwen waved his hand and sat down.

Peter was stunned: "How do you know?"

"I just know."

"Okay." So Peter sat down, hesitated for a moment, and said, "I'm sorry for what happened yesterday."

"No, I know it's not your name Stark. And he's just doing his own job, and no one is doing anything wrong."

Gwen said, pulling out a pack of chewing gum, chewing one by himself, and handing it to Peter.

"Do you eat?"

Peter took it: "Thank you."

"It seems like something is intriguing?" Gwen asked. "What are you thinking?"

"Nothing. Just those things," Peter said in depression. "About the Registration Act. I know there are many people like you who have not accepted registration but have been doing good things. If Mr. Stark orders me to go after you, as well as hunting you down, I don't know what to do."

"What do you think?" Gwen asked.

Peter shook his head: "Why do I think it doesn't matter."

"How could it not matter?" Gwen said seriously and seriously. "That's very important. In fact, that may be the only thing that matters. Someone who is very important to me told me that the definition of my life and value is not who I am or how powerful I have. What's important is what kind of person I want to be and what I am willing to do for."

Peter was stunned for a moment and subconsciously chewed the words.

"So, what kind of person do you think you want to be, Peter?" Gwen continued, "or what is Spider-Man created by you and given meaning by you, what do you think he should mean?"

Does Spider-Man mean?

Peter closed his eyes and began to think about memories.

He thought of the night when Spider-Man was born, Uncle Ben, and the killer who took Uncle Ben's life. He thought of the last words that Uncle Ben left to him, and everyone he saved after becoming Spider-Man.

He remembered why Spider-Man was born and why it will continue to exist.

Peter opened his eyes and looked at Gwen, with a firm look in his eyes without any confusion.

"I seem to understand." He said seriously, "Thank you, Gwen."

"Thank me? Why? I just happened to pass by and talk to you."

Gwen smiled and stood up.

"Okay, I'm leaving. I'll have to report tonight. If I'm late, I'll be scolded by the witch sister."
