Chapter 10 Hydra
Sanqu Wing Building, Nick Fury's office.
Alexander Pierce sat on the brown-black sofa in the director's office, staring at Nick Fury behind the desk with a disbelief.
"What did you just say?"
"I said Hydra," Nick Fury stared at him with a serious smile, saying word by word, "they still exist today."
Pierce blinked and stared at Fry's intact one-eye for a while, as if he was desperate to see a little joke in his eyes.
"You don't believe it." Fury said lightly, "I can understand. But I can use my position to guarantee that the news is true and has been confirmed."
Of course, it is true, because a senior Hydra official is sitting face to face on your office sofa, pretending to be shocked by the fact that "Hydra still exists" and has to behave without knowing it.
Yes, the SHIELD minister, who was highly trusted by Fury, was one of the most important pieces placed by Hydra in SHIELD. But no wonder even a cautious person like Nick Fury did not doubt Pierce's head. After all, Alexander Pierce was the former chief of SHIELD, and it was this blonde old man who personally handed over the position of the director to Fury.
"Twelve hours ago, I secretly sent a team to confirm a line," Fury said. "According to the intelligence, they found a facility still operating in the military camp in New Jersey where ASUS was established. The facilities were buried under the ground of the facility with more than 200,000 feet of servers - all old equipment from the last century, but well-equipped and well-operated to this day."
Hearing this, Pierce already understood what Fury was referring to, but while he cursed in his heart, he still had to pretend to be calm on the surface.
"Is that?" he replied, "that's really strange. Who would hide a bunch of old antiques that should be entered into the museum in that kind of place?"
Fury did not answer directly, and changed the subject: "Do you remember Anim Zora?"
Pierce thought for a while while pretending to behave.
"If you refer to German scientists during World War II, I have an impression," he replied. "In that era, he was an extremely rare cutting-edge talent, but it's a pity that he worked for Hydra. In the end, Captain America caught him."
"To be precise, it's the Swiss scientist." Fury corrected, "Yes, we're talking about this guy. Not long ago, we discovered that this crazy scientist had completely backed up all the messages in his mind before he died. His memories, his knowledge and even his madness were stored in that huge server."
Pierce certainly knew Zorra was Swiss and knew his existence. But he still narrowed his eyes and pretended to know nothing: "You must be kidding now."
Fury continued: "My team has controlled Zora, and he proves to us that Hydra still exists. For so many years, Hydra has been parasitic inside the ASCHUN, like a parasite, drawing nutrients from us, accumulating strength, and quietly changing the world in the shadows."
Pierce put away his casual attitude and looked directly at Fury with a serious and solemn look: "You know how crazy you just said, right? Are you telling me that today, not only does Hydra still exist, but it is hidden inside the ASUS? And it has been like this for many years?"
"I'm responsible for every word I've said." Fury said lightly.
Alexander Pierce slowly took off his dark black glasses and rubbed his nose: "Hell. If this is true... do you know how much impact this will have? Over there of the World Security Council..."
"Don't let the upper party know for the time being." Freedon paused and added, "at least not before I decide what to do. This is why I inform you in advance - there may be a series of big moves in the bureau next, and I need you to deal with the committee while I take measures."
Pierce set up his glasses again and sighed: "Well, as long as you know what you are doing, Nick. The committee doesn't have to worry about it, I'll help you get the time you need... as usual."
S.E.L.D. is not under the jurisdiction of the US government, but is directly obeying the World Security Council. Arguing with the top players has always been Alexander Pierce's strengths. Fury is responsible for doing practical things, while Pierce is responsible for giving him more resources and more freedom. The two have maintained a good cooperative relationship for many years.
"It seems like I have a lot to prepare." Pierce sighed, stood up from the sofa, buttoned up the suit, "but I still have to ask... what do you plan to do, Nick? To investigate every agent in the bureau?"
Fury had no expression on his face: "I have my own arrangements."
Since he said so, he obviously had no intention of explaining it. No matter how much Nick Fury asked about the content he did not intend to reveal, it was meaningless. Pierce obviously knew this, so he said goodbye and left without saying much.
The electronically controlled automatic door closed immediately after Pierce left, and the electronic lock disk made a crisp "tick" sound that represents the lock. The director's office was re-enclosed, like an airtight iron box.
Fury closed his eyes, leaned against his rotating chair and sat quietly for a while, and suddenly spoke to himself: "Is there anything to say?"
Half a second later, a trace of ripples appeared in the air beside the wall behind him. A deep fluorescent light emerged out of thin air, and the iron-black lines outlined the outline of the metal armor.
"It's worthy of being Nick Fury." Michael Paso, wearing armor, swerved to the table, "he had a very sensitive sense of smell."
"This building has gathered the world's top agents and has security protocols that gather the most cutting-edge technology, but it still cannot stop you from entering and leaving my office like you enter the supermarket." Fury raised his eyelids, "How long have you been here?"
"Twenty minutes, I almost happened to finish your discussion." Michael said, "It sounds like you have found Zora, and the information I left behind last time has been confirmed. I believe this should lay a good foundation for our next cooperation."
Fury leaned against the back of the chair with his arms in his arms: "You didn't lie last time, but that wasn't enough to make me agree to cooperate. My principle is to work with people who know the truth, but I know nothing about you."
"Special situations are handled in particular. We are now discussing what is related to the survival of ASUS. I think you will make an exception for this." Michael paused for a moment and changed the subject. "But if this could give you a little more peace of mind, I can tell you that my former name was Angus Norton, one of the highest-level researchers at Hydra - but don't bother to investigate the name in depth. Hydra has been searching for Angus Norton for three years and has not yet found anything because this person has long since disappeared."
"Why, you broke up?"
"My family has been loyal to Hydra for generations, but I have no interest in their old ridiculous ambitions to 'rule the world'." Michael said lightly, "But Hydra will not tolerate betrayal. Their minions are all over the world, and as long as I am still alive, they will never give up on finding them... This is annoying, so I want to uproot them."
"It's that simple?" Fury raised his eyebrows suspiciously.
"It's that simple." Michael repeated, "'The enemy of the enemy is a friend.' Hydra is our common enemy, so I will do my best to help you solve them without any conditions in return."
"You are so generous," Fury said lightly, "Your proposal is very tempting, but unfortunately it is not convincing."
"Then don't believe it. Doubt is your job, Director Fury, you just need to do your job well."
Michael made a gesture, and the projection screen on the desk in front of Fury immediately lit up in response. Documents were imported from the outside one by one into his system, like an uncontrollable flow of water.
"What is this?" Fury asked.
"Your chips." Michael said lightly, remotely controlling a file photo that popped up from the screen interface. In the photo, there was a man with a fierce look, bald head, muscles, and a ferocious beast in his eyes.
"Carl Creel, nicknamed 'Absorbing Man', is a superpower who can convert his skin into almost all substances he comes into contact with." Michael introduced.
"I know. S.H.E.L.D. has fought with him and he is already under our control."
"Confirm again," Michael said. "'Absorbing Man' is now Hydra's weapon. I have just sent you the address where he is hiding, various abilities and the response plans I have personally studied. You can arrange people to solve him as soon as possible. Criel is one of the best superpowers under Hydra's command, and solving him will be a good start."
"Okay, then you guys hurry up and I won't disturb you." Michael took two steps back and waved his hand. The magic portal swirled behind him, "Just like I just said, you don't have to believe me. Of course, you can also try to set a trap when I visit next time, try to catch me and torture me or something..." He paused and chuckled in a low voice, "...If you can catch it."
While he was speaking, he had already retreated into the flame-colored magic array, and the portal was rotating and gathering, and after a few sparks burst out in the air, it completely disappeared.
Nick Fury stared at the photo of Carl Creel in the picture for a while, picked up the phone and dialed a string of numbers.
"Click me Agent Phil Colson." Fury said to the microphone, "There is a task left to his team."
