Chapter 14 The Kaya People

In the early hours of the night that night, seeing that we were all asleep, Aza untied the camel and took water and food and left by himself.

The journey was smooth two days ago, and it happened on the third night.

He was sleeping in the middle of the night and suddenly heard the cries of camels. Camels usually do not call unless the camel sees wild animals that are dangerous to it. There are no lions in the Alaxan Desert, but there are still some other wild animals that often appear at night, such as wild dogs (non-hyenas), sand lizards, rattlesnakes, etc.

Aza woke up from his sleep and ran out in panic to see if there were wild dogs or something nearby. As a result, he saw a bunch of bonfires from afar. The bonfire was burning very vigorously, and along the sound of the wind, you could still hear the noise of people talking.

At first, Aza thought they were catching up with him, but then he found that it might not be. He got closer and found that it was a group of people cooking meat around a bonfire.

The people he met were the same as what we met. Aza said that this group of people was another indigenous tribe living in the Alaxan desert, called the Khaya tribe, and those people were all Khaya people. It is said that the Khaya people in the depths of Alaxan migrated from Takramakan for hundreds of years.

Regarding the Keya people, for the native Aza, who lived at the foot of the Helan Mountain since childhood, they knew that the Keya people were much later than the Huts. About twenty or thirty years ago, in the 1970s and 1980s, a very famous foreign explorer came to Alaxan for an adventure. This man lost his way because of a sandstorm and lost his water and food. The foreign explorer was rescued by the Keya people when he was dying. At this point, the local people in Yinchuan learned that there was such a tribe in Alaxan, a tribe they didn't know yet.

Decades ago, the Khaya people were very scattered, and some families could reach more than 20 kilometers. From this family to that family, they sometimes had to ride camels for a week. After the 1990s, the Khaya people realized that it was inconvenient to live like this, so they began to gather the tribes to build villages in the desert. As a result, the Khaya people slowly gathered from all directions and developed into the real Khaya tribe.

The Kjaya tribe has their own language, culture and worship of gods. Aza told me that the Kjaya people worshiped the most. The sacred tree he mentioned was the bottle tree I smashed. According to legend, the ancestors of the Kjaya people brought saplings from Taklamakan and planted them. The bottle tree grew so big after hundreds of years.

There are no doctors in the Keya tribe. In their perception, the sap of sacred tree can cure all diseases and pains. If someone gets sick, the Keya will bring sacrifices to hold a ceremony. After the grand worship ceremony, the Keya will gently cut the bottle tree with a knife, and use a small cup to collect a little sap. Afterwards, they will smooth the small mouth with poplar gum, praying that the bottle tree will heal the wound as soon as possible.

Just the light white tree sap, a thing that is considered a divine water in the Keya culture, Zhao Xuanxuan and I smashed it with stones, drank it, and brought five large bottles with homemade flat pots made of dried cactus, so they were anxious about me.

Later, Aza, the bad boy, was caught back because of a verbal conflict with Khaji. Until he met us just now.

He continued, "You two destroyed the Khaya tree. Do you know what the nature of this matter is equivalent to? It's like a devout Buddhist believer. One day, the Buddha statue he had worshipped for the rest of his life was smashed. If you put yourself in your shoes, what would you do if you were the one who would do it?"

I said dissatisfiedly: "What else can I do? I smashed the bottle tree they planted, but I am also willing to apologize and compensate. Do they dare to kill people in broad daylight?"

"You are quite awesome," Aza sarcastically said, "You will know when it's evening. I heard something just now. They were discussing that you were burning in the sacred tree, and I'm afraid you were going to be dedicated to the sacred tree as a sacrifice."

I immediately asked, "Do you understand the language of the Kyarren?" As for the fact that the Kyarren said that the Kyarren would burn me and Zhao Xuanxuan to death at night, I didn't believe it at all. I just thought he wanted to see me afraid of making a fool of himself.

I didn't believe it, and I didn't cut down their sacred tree. I just smashed a little, not like that.

Aza replied: "The pronunciation of Keya is a bit similar to that of Qiang. I can understand part of the meaning, but I can't say it. I know you don't believe what I said just now. When you wait tonight, you will know whether what I said is true or false."

After saying that, Aza leaned against the wall and closed her eyes, not talking.

It was getting darker and I stayed until after 11 o'clock in the evening. A torch lit up outside the door, and there was a noise.

The door was pushed open, and the young girl with earrings walked in with four or five big men. They were holding two very thick poplar sticks in their hands, with hemp ropes tied to one end of the stick.

Seeing that the other party was coming in a fierce manner, my heart skipped a beat and I thought it was a big deal. Why did they come in with sticks in the middle of the night? Still holding ropes?

Suddenly.

"What are you doing! What are you going to do!"

Two big men suddenly raised Zhao Xuanxuan, one left and one right, and tied her hands and feet to thick wooden sticks.

"Xiaoxuan!"

"If you want to fight, you must punish me! The tree was smashed by me! It has nothing to do with her!" I shouted at them red, regardless of whether they could understand it or not.

Five minutes later, I was tied to a poplar stick with my hands and feet. Although I struggled hard, I couldn't break free.

Aza smiled and said, "Go away, I won't give you two. Don't worry, my sins are much smaller than you. In a few days, the Kjar will probably let me go. When I go out and burn some paper money for you, you can also take flowers on the way."

Aza looked gloating.

The next moment, the expression on his face changed instantly and he couldn't smile. The Kera girl with big earrings waved her hand, and someone took in a stick and two ropes.

"Misunderstanding, misunderstanding," Aza said with great struggle: "You guys got it wrong! He and I are not in the same group! I did not destroy your Kyamen tree!"

Poor that the other party doesn't understand.

After we were tied up, the girl with earrings waved her hand and the three of us were lifted up like a pig slaughtering during the Chinese New Year.

"You are paralyzed!" Aza cursed at me with his head down.

I was also panicked, suppressed my anger and fear and asked him what to do, where would I carry us in the middle of the night? This is.

"Where else can you go!"

"Go to the Kyasho Tree! We are about to be burned to death by the Kyas!"

"It's all the fucking blame for you, who told you to smash the divine tree so much!"

I was annoyed and turned my head and said in a swearing voice, "Blame your mother, if you don't steal our camels and water, how could I smash that bottle tree to get water!"

"Stop arguing!" Zhao Xuanxuan shouted at Aza: "Let me find a way to quarrel with us three all over again!"
