As time goes by, compared to modern time and space, the flavor of the Tang Dynasty has become much more intense.

Seeing that the New Year is getting closer, Wang Youde, the butler, has already begun to command his servants and make preparations for the New Year without Li Anran's instructions.

In the Tang Dynasty, there was no custom of posting Spring Festival couplets. Instead, the names of Shen Tu and Yu Lei were often written on peach boards and hung on the door, called "fairy wood" or "peach charms".

Legend has it that Shen Tu and Yu Lei are brothers, who "have the ability to hold ghosts" and live under the peach tree. During the Five Dynasties, Meng Chang of the Later Shu Dynasty inscribed on the peach charm "New Year's greetings for Yuqing, Jiajie Changchun". It is said that this is the first couplet

.After that, "Taofu" became the alias of Spring Festival couplets.

In fact, there was no Spring Festival in the Zhenguan period. According to the festival tradition of the Tang Dynasty, the last day of each year and the first day of each year were separated. The end of the year was called Chu Sui and the beginning of the year was called New Year's Day.

Before New Year's Eve, people rush home as much as possible in order to reunite with their loved ones. On New Year's Eve, the whole family reunites for a feast and drinks peppercorn wine to drive away cold and dampness. That is, put peppercorns on the plate and put a little into the cup when drinking. After the banquet

The whole family sits around the fire pot until dawn, which is called "staying up late".

Du Fu once wrote a poem: "Ajong's family is watching the New Year, and the pepper plate is singing flowers." Dong Sigong's poem said: "This is the end of the banquet, and the pot is poured out to wait for the dawn." Chu Guangxi's poem said: "Keep the door closed at the beginning of the night, and the fire will be lit until early morning.

." It describes the scene of feasting and staying up late on New Year's Eve.

There is also a superstitious ritual to drive away plagues on New Year's Eve. It is called "Nuo" (nuo, sounds like Ruo Nuo) or "Da Nuo". This is an activity passed down from ancient times, and there is "Countryman Nuo" in "The Analects of Confucius"

records.

On this day, people in the Tang Dynasty selected boys to wear scary masks, red and black clothes and trousers, and beat drums and dance to drive away ghosts. The lead dancer was called "Fang Xiangshi", the backup dancer was called "羲子", and there were twelve deacons.

.In Tang poems, "The sound of Nuo can eliminate epidemics" (Yao He), and "The more the Nuo children in the countryside are envious" (Xu Xuan), refer to this kind of activities.

On this day, the royal family of the Tang Dynasty would hold a grand "Da Nuo" ceremony, with more than 500 people. Shen Quanqi's poem "Shou Sui Ying Zhi" says: "The lamps and figures in the palace are fighting for the fire. The emperor in the palace is chasing away demons.

". And Wang Jian gave a more detailed description: "Jin Wu entered the Nuo Ming Dynasty on the Great Night, and four teams of painted trousers and red clothes lined up. The lamps in the courtyard were burning like daylight, and they sat under the agarwood fire and played the sheng."

Just like the Chinese New Year in later generations, on the night of New Year's Eve, the whole family, old and young, gathers together to eat, drink, and have fun without sleeping. This is the custom of "keeping the year old" that has been passed down to this day.

People in the Tang Dynasty liked to live together in large families. If there were senior elders around, not only the elder's direct children and grandchildren, but also the married brothers, nephews, married sisters, and nephews would all gather together to reunite and watch the New Year's Eve. In the custom of the Tang Dynasty,

The elders drink last, and the last drinker is called the "blue tail".

When the time comes, people bid farewell to the old and welcome the new. People stand up one after another to "keep up the New Year's Eve". The younger generation salutes the elders, and the slaves kowtow to their masters. Everyone wants to say auspicious New Year greetings. Men, on the other hand, mainly kneel down and kowtow. The time and number of kowtows are:

The body posture depends on the status of both parties.

The formal etiquette for women is called "Subai". In the early Tang Dynasty, "Subai" involves kneeling on the knees first, then cupping fists in front of the chest and cupping hands or clasping them together, and then the body and head also bend forward slightly, with a small range of movement.

After the Wu Zhou Dynasty, women in the Tang Dynasty had a simpler "worship" ceremony than before. They did not need to kneel down, they just stood and bent forward and cupped their hands.

We waited until the next day, which is the first day of the New Year, commonly known as Yuan Day. People in the Tang Dynasty were very sociable and lively. On the first day of the first lunar month, every household in Chang'an City held banquets, and neighbors paid New Year greetings to each other. To a certain extent, it can be said

There is a special name for eating at whichever house you go to, called "passing the seat."

Shortly after New Year's Day is the "Beginning of Spring". On this day, we eat the "Five Spicy Plate", also called the "Spring Plate", which is made up of five kinds of spicy vegetables to dissipate the stale energy in the five internal organs. In addition, there are also glutinous rice dumplings.

, Baiye wine and Tusu wine are also traditional foods and beverages.

On the day of the beginning of spring, people in the Tang Dynasty also had the custom of wearing swallows cut from colored silk and posting phrases on their doors, called "Yichun characters". People with some literary talents would write a poem and paste it on the lintel of the door, which means

It is the same as the Spring Festival couplets of later generations.

Li Anran was not at all impatient with the habits and traditions introduced by Mr. Wang Youde. On the contrary, the more he listened to this tradition with a strong sense of history and humanity, the more interesting he found it.

For this reason, Li Anran also deliberately imitated it in modern time and space. Unfortunately, he is only one person in modern time and space, and including Wei Yuanyuan, there are only two people. Even if some layouts and arrangements are made, Xiaoyao Villa cannot be created.

That taste.

Since there is no need for him to ask anything here at Xiaoyao Villa, and because it was nearly a year ago, whether he was visiting people to make connections or seeking medical treatment, they all stopped knowingly. Li Anran, who was a little bored, simply stopped by

I spent most of my time in modern time and space, taking Wei Yuanyuan with me to do shopping for the New Year.

What Li Anran didn't expect was that Hu Jing, who originally thought she would stay in France to celebrate the New Year with her mysterious brother-in-law, actually returned to Nanjing a week in advance and contacted him immediately.

Seeing that it was very deserted to celebrate the New Year with only two people, now there is one more person, and she can be said to be a close relative, Li Anran is naturally in a very happy mood.

Even though there was only one more person, the house was obviously lively. Hu Jing and Wei Yuanyuan were chirping and expressing their opinions about the New Year while they were busy inside and outside the house. The original light New Year atmosphere had become invisible.

It's getting more flavorful.

The three of us shared an SUV with a relatively large trunk capacity, which we frequently visited in major shopping malls and wholesale markets. Even though many things were necessary or dispensable, we bought them all. It was not a luxury or waste, it was just a picture.

A joy.

And a large part of these things can be given away as gifts later. For Li Anran, who is worth hundreds of millions, it is not a waste at all.

In addition to eating, drinking and dressing up, there are naturally no shortage of fireworks, lanterns and other items that are essential for the New Year. These items were not bought in the market, but were taken by Li Anran to a party held in the county every year before the New Year.

Market. As a result, not only did they buy a lot of useless things, but the stomachs of the three of them were also filled with special snacks from all over the market.

The only things they didn't buy were the window grilles and couplets, not because they were reluctant to part with them but because they didn't like them. After buying the appropriate red paper, Hu Jing and Wei Yuanyuan each used a pair of scissors and quickly and skillfully cut out a bunch of beautiful and auspicious ones.

Window grilles are coming.

As for the couplets, Li Anran, who can be considered a good calligrapher, naturally disdained to use mass-produced goods. Instead, he took out a good pen, good inkstone and good ink from the Tang Dynasty, and wrote it with his own hand.

come out.

Unexpectedly, this writing caused a little "trouble".

When the villagers discovered that the couplets posted outside the Li family compound were not only auspicious and festive, but also had better characters than those bought from the market, some well-connected villagers first came to ask for the characters, and eventually it developed into a nationwide

People from the village came to beg. (To be continued...)
