Chapter 52 September 18th (Saturday)

"Residents, Beidaying was lost!"

Zheng Yong was not surprised by his subordinate’s report. This was originally expected. But he now faced two options:

Either they defended here desperately and attacked the Japanese army in Beidaying with the terrain advantage of Sashanzuizi. Or they immediately retreated to Fengtian City to continue to resist.

But now he doesn't know what Fengtian is going on. Did Tao Ping persuade Zhao Zhenfan? Otherwise, he would not have such great ability to mobilize the Fengtian defense battle with his small company commander.

The Japanese army had already repelled several attacks in a row. The Japanese army was surrounded by corpses in front of the Sayamazui position. The 1st Company did not suffer much damage due to its previous full preparations and powerful firepower.

But after all, I only have about two hundred people in my hands, and Sayamazui is definitely not a place to stick to for a long time. After reading the table below, it will be a few minutes before the 18th. I have reversed some history, September 18:

There are still Chinese soldiers fighting!

"I said it's almost done," Ouyang Ping walked to Zheng Yong sarcastically: "Bei Daying has been lost, and if you die, you will be here. There's nothing to do now, but if you have to wait until dawn, we will have to be made into dumplings by the Japanese."

"Yes, this damn Eastern man."

Situ Dadao walked over cursingly. He was scratched by stray bullets and felt uncomfortable. He heard Ouyang Ping and Lian Zuo talking and sat down next to them:

"If you want to defend, it's okay for us to continue to guard here for a few days. But this Sashanzui is easy to guard. If you are really surrounded by the Japanese, it will be difficult to stick out. Look at our terrain..."

Zheng Yong touched his chin, thought for a while, looked at the Japanese army that temporarily stopped attacking, and finally made up his mind and said:

"The 1st row stays here and continues to involve the Japanese. The others retreat at 1 a.m. on the 19th. The 1st row stays at Sayamazui until 2 a.m., and then retreats in the direction of Fengtian. I send Cheng Hong to help you."

"Okay, my row is all done by this job." Situ Dadao was dissatisfied and left with a murmur.

When the last day on September 18 passed, when Beidaying was lost and the defense position of the 1st Company Sayamazuki was completely isolated by the Japanese army, the 1st Company, which was killed and injured a large amount of Japanese troops, began to retreat to Fengtian in a planned manner.

At about 19th on September 19th, after repelling another attack from the Japanese army, the second platoon of the first company and the third platoon began to evacuate from Sayamazui under the cover of the first platoon.

At this time, the Japanese army was busy pursuing the officers and soldiers of the 7th Brigade of Beidaying who were retreating, and the Japanese army responsible for directly attacking Sayamazuizi was unable to launch an effective attack again due to the casualties. Because the retreat was going very smoothly.

At 2 o'clock, the first platoon, who was responsible for the cover, also began to voluntarily give up the position, and successfully met with the second platoon of the supporter at 3:30 at the Dongjiashu.

It was not until 5:30 on the 19th that the Japanese army discovered that Sayamazuki was empty...

Although the Sayamazui attack and defense battle did not last long, the meaning it brought was by no means that it could describe how much time it had been held or how many Japanese troops had been killed or injured.

According to the original plan formulated by the Kwantung Army, a comprehensive attack on the Northeast will be carried out before 0:30 am on the 19th, and the elite Second Division will be responsible for attacking Fengtian. However, the sudden tenacious resistance of Sayamazuki changed the plan.

After receiving reports that Sayamazuko's front line of resistance was extremely tenacious and the Northeast Army's firepower was extremely fierce, Kanto Army commander Shizuki Honjo ordered the Second Division to temporarily stop attacking Fengtian.

The Japanese became hesitant. In the Northeast, there were only less than 20,000 Kwantung Army, while the Northeast Army had more than 100,000 regular troops. Once the Northeast's determination to resist was as strong as Sayamazuki, the Kwantung Army would suffer significant losses.

At 3 a.m., news came from the front line that Beidaying and other places were completely controlled by the Japanese army. Except for the 1st Chinese Company of Sayamazuizi, the Northeast Army did not make any resistance. Although when pursuing the 620th Regiment, due to the tight pursuit, the Chinese army made some resistance, causing the Japanese army to lose 25 people, everything went very smoothly.

This news stimulated the Kwantung Army, and the originally hesitant determination to fight was rekindled!

Now the Kwantung Army Command can confirm that the Chinese are absolutely resisting, but this resistance range is limited to Sayamazui, to the 1st Company, to those one hundred, or at most two hundred Chinese soldiers.

At 3:30, the Kwantung Army Command held an interim emergency military meeting.

After discussing the situation in detail, the Kanto Army Command unanimously agreed that the battle in Sayamazuki was not enough to prevent the Kanto Army from resolving the Northeast issue by force.

The Chinese troops in various parts of the Northeast were retreating and defeating on a large scale. Except for the direction of Fengtian, the resistance encountered by the Kwantung Army was so weak that it could be completely ignored.

At 5:30, after receiving the news that the Chinese army in Sayamazuizi had completely evacuated, the Kwantung Army commander Honjo Shizuki, who was convinced that the Chinese army had finally given up the final resistance, issued an order at 6:00:

The main force of the Second Division of the Kwantung Army quickly marched towards Fengtian after receiving the order, and must completely occupy Fengtian before 11 a.m. on September 19.

This order was nearly 6 hours later than the original plan.

In the Battle of Sayamazuko, the 1st Company held its position and, with its powerful firepower and fighting determination, killed and injured Japanese pirates below Kawashima Nobuo, the squadron leader of the 2nd Railway Guarding Brigade, a total of 198 people, and only eleven of them were injured or killed.

This is a miracle that is not big or small. As a military power around you, since the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895, the Chinese army has been defeated almost repeatedly in the wars that the Japanese army fought against, but this time is the exception.

Perhaps even Zheng Yong himself doesn’t know what impact the resistance of Sayamazuizi and the 1st company’s resistance and non-resistance policy will have on the entire Northeast situation. On this day, history is quietly undergoing undetectable changes!

(At 6 o'clock yesterday morning, Zhou Dafa, one of the "Eight Hundred Heroes" who participated in the defense of the Sihang Warehouse in Shanghai, passed away at the Gulou Hospital in Nanjing. Spider once met his old man a few years ago. The thing that the old man was most proud of was that when Shanghai fell, the only Chinese flag in Shanghai was raised by them. Mr., you have a good journey)
