Afterword to Volume 3(1/2)
Hello~ Hello everyone, this is the starting point of Fantasy Zone, probably one of the most diligent novelists, Soo Mengmi.
Volume 3 "Valkyrie" is finally finished!
As mentioned in the "Author's Note" in Chapter 376 "The Round Table Conference is Officially Convened!", the number of words in Volume 3 is a shocking 640,000 words.
But I just checked, and it doesn’t seem like there are that many (laughs). Volume 3, including extras, is only about 630,000 words long.
But there are indeed quite a lot of them.
The first volume has only 120,000 words, the second volume has only 320,000 words, and the third volume has 630,000 words.
The total length of Volume 3 is almost twice as long as Volume 2...
However, there will probably never be such a long volume again in the future (probably), and volume 3 should be the longest volume in this book.
The main reason why Volume 3 is so long is actually because the nature of the war in Volume 3 is completely different from the first two volumes.
My positioning of this book has always been a war novel, so the war drama is the focus of this book.
The battle in Volume 1 is against a small group of peasant rebels in the country.
The battle in Volume 2 is to defeat the disobedient small country.
So you can find that the battles in these two volumes are just small battles, but the battle in Volume 3 is different.
Volume 3 is a direct collision between the two great powers, the Britannia Empire and the Rollin Empire.
The Britannia Empire launched an army of 150,000 and mobilized three-quarters of the Knights of Rachel. The remaining troops were also ready to go. If anything unusual appeared on the southern front, they would immediately move to the front to support them.
The Luolin Empire is also full of elites.
In Volume 2, I actually only wrote about two battles, the Battle of Illun Ferry and the Battle of Wei River Annihilation.
And how many battles are included in Volume 3?
Let me count them for you.
Those battles that have been mentioned briefly are not included. Any battles that have been described in many words include:
The surprise attack on Huming City, the battle of Deng Jiaer's defeat of Simeon, the battle of Deng Jiaer's defeat of Eugene, the battle of Su Cheng's counterattack against Gilward, the siege of Mayin, the battle of Urla, the battle of Sola, the battle of Allen's defeat
Battle of Denileo, Battle of Crimson Sea.
A total of 9 large-scale battles.
This book is in the style of group portraits, so the narrative technique used is the POV technique that is most suitable for writing group portraits.
In the rescue battle of the Lund Kingdom in Volume 2, my perspective mainly switched between Su Cheng, Allen, and Alyssa.
And in Volume 3? I can’t even count how many people’s perspectives I cut during Spring Awakening and Summer Wind Offensive… I would conservatively estimate that there are more than 20 people.
…
There are really many new characters appearing in this volume. Among the many newly created characters, the character I am most satisfied with and the character I like the most is none other than Baldru, the commander-in-chief of the Luo Lin Army.
This is a very respectable person.
I have said before that Barr's prototype is Zhuge Liang + Li Dingguo.
(I have always been a Zhuge fan and a Shu Han fan, because I have always felt that the Shu Han was the most romantic and inspiring regime in the history of our country.
The kings and ministers of the Shu Han Dynasty all had a strong sense of romanticism. They worked hard together and never gave up for a distant and somewhat hopeless goal.)
Looking at Baal's performance in Volume 3, it is simply amazing.
In the "Summer Wind" offensive, what is the lineup of the Britannia Empire?
【Destiny's Son】Su Cheng
[The Second Knight of the Britannia Empire] Albert Evans
[Nicknamed Cyborg, he took off the head of a Four Knights in the Battle of Elon Ferry with a small victory over a large number] Alan Jones
【One of the heroines】Alyssa Hill
【One of the heroines】Deng Jiaer O'Brien
[One of the heroines, what is the strength value?] Alan
[The protagonist’s right-hand lieutenant, many scenes in the future] Willie Miller
…
What is there in the Luo Lin Empire?
...There is nothing. Except for Barr, almost no one can do it.
The Luo Lin Empire had high hopes for the five young stars, Gill, Luo Xie, Ode, Simeon, and Ou Ren, but two of them were immediately eliminated by Deng Jiaer, who had just debuted.
During the night surprise attack, Su Cheng's troops were far smaller than theirs, and Su Cheng counterattacked and killed two of them.
In the final siege of Mayin, they were bypassed by Su Cheng. Until the Battle of Feihai was over, Luo Xie and Ou Ren didn't realize that the Eastern Route Army outside the city had already bypassed them and was still fighting for themselves.
Feeling complacent about "blocking" them.
To put it simply, except for Baal, there is no one in the Luo Lin Empire who can compete with the large group of bright generals above.
In other words, this "Summer Wind" offensive is a battle where Barr alone takes on a large group of bright generals from the Britannia Empire.
However, in such a bad situation, Barr still played very well!
First, he admitted that his military ability was not as good as Albert's, and decided to give up a head-on confrontation with Albert.
Formulating the "Headless Snake Plan", he took over the most troublesome and difficult task in the plan, and finally succeeded in the assassination attempt, severely injuring Albert in the Battle of Sola.
Albert could only flee in panic with the remnants of the center army.
For the first time, the entire war situation was reversed, giving the Luolin Empire the upper hand.
When something went wrong on both the western and eastern fronts, he quickly calmed down, gave up the pursuit of Albert, and turned to the Feihai Plain, preparing for a decisive battle with Allen on the Feihai Plain.
Before the decisive battle of Feihai, we did not forget to send people to evacuate all civilians on the Feihai Plain.
In the Battle of Feihai, he once again turned the tide. On the 12th day of the Battle of Feihai, he successfully used his pre-battle speech to boost the morale of the entire army and killed Albert and Allen.
For the second time, the entire battle situation was reversed, giving the Luo Lin Empire the upper hand again.
If Su Cheng hadn't arrived in time in the end, then Balta would most likely have won.
After challenging all the generals once and in such a bad situation, they were able to fight like this and push the Britannia Empire into danger twice. It is really amazing.
As expected of the man whose historical prototype is Zhuge Liang + Li Dingguo.
It's a pity... Barr failed in the end.
Su Cheng's timely arrival made all Barr's previous efforts in vain...
However, even so, it does not prevent us from paying the highest respect to Barr, this respectable man. Although he was defeated, he was still glorious.
…
Now that the serialization of Volume 3 has ended, I am very happy. Why? Because the promise I promised you before to "update 4 times a day before the end of Volume 3" is finally over! Starting tomorrow, we will finally return to the past.
There are 2 updates every day! Wow! I can finally breathe a sigh of relief!
[I am one of the most diligent novelists in Qidian Fantasy Zone].
When I say this, many people may think I am arrogant.
But I really feel that I am one of the most diligent novelists in Qidian Fantasy Zone (laughs)
In today's era where eunuchs are eunuchs, updates are delayed when updates are postponed, and jobs are unfinished when jobs are unfinished. I feel like I am a breath of fresh air.
If my grades were like this, someone else would have done it a long time ago, right?
But I didn't cut it.
Not only has it not been updated, it has been updated every day.
Moreover, the amount of updates is very large. From the first day of serialization to now, there are an average of 8,000+ updates per day.
In just 132 days, I wrote my first million words in my life.
At that time, there were a total of 22 books recommended by "Popular Categories" at the same time as me, including me.
Now only I and one other book are still being serialized.
And this other book is still updated frequently, and even if it is updated, it is only updated once a day. So far, it has only written more than 600,000 words.
In the past month or so, I have updated thousands of words every day.
In these more than a month, I have gained a better understanding and appreciation of the profession of an online novelist.
The profession of an online novelist is really amazing, but also very hard...
After I tried to write 10,000 words a day, I realized how hard it is to write 10,000 words a day...
I now feel that those who can update more than 10,000 or 20,000 times a day, and can persist for months or years, are really monster-like existences...
Now that Volume 3 is finished, the promise I made to update 4 times a day is also over. To be honest, I am very happy that the promise has been fulfilled, and I feel a sense of relief.
Not only am I happy that I have reached an agreement with you and I have not broken my promise, but I am also happy that I can finally return to the previous rhythm of updating 2 chapters every day.
Because I am not writing novels full-time after all, updating 4 times a day is too hard for me...
To be continued...
