Among the collections of the Forbidden City, there is a scroll of this poem in running script with large characters. Zhou Zhi saw it in the internal calligraphy and painting album of the Forbidden City given to him by Qi Lao.
The calligraphy of Huang Tingjian and Wen Zhengming has a strong reference significance for Zhou Zhi's calligraphy. Zhou Zhi paid special attention to it when he saw the album, and now he immediately recalled it when he saw it.
This is interesting. The same poem appears twice. Either Wen Zhengming liked his poem very much, or he was struggling to ask for an old work of his and a painting to make up the number.
Judging from the artistry and calligraphy of this painting, it should be mostly the former.
The "New Autumn" hanging scroll with large characters in running script in the National Palace Museum was identified by Qi Lao as a work after Wen Zhengming's late calligraphy mastery. Now it seems that the poem was written at least more than ten years before the scroll came out.
Exactly how long ago it took will have to be answered by literary and historical experts who have conducted special research on Wen Zhengming, but in any case, it is an indisputable fact that the value of this fan has been seriously underestimated.
The value of cultural relics often lies more in the stories they carry. Because of the duplication of poetry and the collection of the Forbidden City, this fan already has story-telling, and its value will skyrocket immediately.
If one year the Forbidden City holds an exhibition themed on the talents of the Fourth Ming Dynasty, and Zhou Zhi sends this fan to hang next to the hanging scroll of running script, the price of this fan will soar more than tenfold before the exhibition is over.
Communication between the two places is not yet smooth, and the country is still relatively closed. Many domestic collections have not even been announced to the outside world, resulting in people outside not knowing about them at all.
This "New Autumn White Ramoche Picture" has both front and back fan hanging scrolls, and I was very satisfied with the careful photography.
Afterwards, Zhou Zhi did not follow up on the several collection items because the prices were not suitable, and they were all taken away by others.
After a piece of "Magnolia and Cloud Brocade" by Yi Gui from the Qing Dynasty was auctioned off for five million Hong Kong dollars, the grand finale finally began.
The name of "Magnolia Cloud Brocade" is very nice. The picture is of magnolia flowers and white peacocks, which means "wealth in the jade hall", which is quite auspicious.
Zhou Yigui was a court painter of the Qianlong Emperor, and he was a master at painting flowers and birds. This painting is huge, so it was not surprising that it fetched such a high price.
However, everyone was so anxious that they even forgot to applaud.
Seeing this, Lin Wanqiu stopped talking: "The last item on the lot is a cursive scroll of the Mahavairocana written by the great master Kukai of the Tang Dynasty. The starting price is HK$5 million. Bidding starts now!"
"Boom..." The signs in the hands of the big guys in the front row of the venue suddenly stood up.
The Mahavairocana Sutra is the fundamental sutra in the realm of esoteric Buddhism. Together with the Vajra Sutra, it is the sacred scripture on which the two esoteric secrets of the island country Dongtai are based. It is the most important sacred scripture of the Shingon sect and is divided into seven volumes.
This sutra was translated by Shan Wuwei, Yi Xing and others in the Tang Dynasty. This sutra is a sutra spoken by the Great Sun Lord in the Vajra Dharma Realm Palace. It aims to enlighten all living beings about the endless treasures of the pure bodhicitta, and to show the original enlightenment mandala.
The main purpose and the expediency of the Three Secrets are proclaimed.
This sutra is quite long, and the current scroll is a fragment. It mainly contains the content of the first chapter of the mantra.
"This is what I heard: At one time, Bhagavan was staying in the vast Vajra Dharma Realm Palace blessed by the Tathagata, and all Vajra holders were gathered together.
The Tathagata interpreted the game with magical transformations and gave birth to a treasure king in a large pavilion, high and middle-edge, decorated with various wonderful treasure kings, and the body of the Bodhisattva was a lion.
…
At that time, the Bodhisattva Samantabhadra was the supreme leader, and the secret lord of all holding Vajras was the supreme leader. Vairochana Tathagata blessed him. He quickly manifested the endless adornment treasure of the body, and thus manifested the endless adornment treasure of equality in speech and mind. It was not followed by Jie Lu. Chana Buddha's body, speech, or mind arises and ceases everywhere and is inaccessible.
At that time, the Lord who held the Vajra Secret sat down in the assembly and spoke to the Buddha:
World-Honored One, how come the Tathagata is able to provide you with perfect and omniscient knowledge and gain all wisdom?
Peter's all-knowing wisdom is widely distributed for countless sentient beings. According to all kinds of interests, all kinds of sexual desires, and all kinds of expedient paths, he proclaims all wisdom and wisdom.
It may be the Sravakayana Path, or the Pratyekabuddha Path, or the Mahayana Path, or the Five Paths of Wisdom, or it may wish to be born in the heavens, or among humans, it may be a dragon, a Yaksha, a Gandharva, or it may even be said to be reborn in the Maharaja Dharma.
If there are sentient beings who should be saved by the Buddha, they may appear in the body of the Buddha, or the body of a voice-hearer, or the body of Pratyekabuddha, or the body of a Bodhisattva, or the body of Brahma, or the body of Narayana, a Samana, or even a Maharaja. They are not human beings, each with the same voice and sound, and abiding in various majesties. However, all these wisdom and wisdom are one flavor, which is called the flavor of Tathagata's liberation.
…”
This is a cursive script of more than 300 words. It should be the content that Kukai recorded casually at that time. The reason why it is said to be a casual record rather than a copy is that the cursive writing is very smooth, the strokes are hearty, and the calligraphy achievements are extremely high.
Kukai's scroll with the largest number of words left today is the "Heart Sutra", the ancestor of the island country's regular script, with less than 300 words and a lot of repetition; and the highest achievement in cursive script is "Feng Xin Tie", which Kukai wrote to Zen Master Saicho A collection of three shakudo letters, with even fewer words, is known as the national treasure of the island nation and is now in the collection of Todaiji Temple in Kyoto.
Although the current "Dainichi Sutra" is a fragment, the number of words exceeds that of the "Heart Sutra", and the calligraphy achievement is comparable to the "Fengxintie". The two are combined together, plus it is the ancestor of the island country's Shingon sect. Sutra, if this guy insists on using Chinese events to make an analogy, it would be equivalent to the emergence of the "Yi Jin Jing" handwritten by Bodhidharma. There is also an additional premise, that is, Bodhidharma must be a master of calligraphy comparable to the two kings.
So the value of this fragment to the people of the island country can be imagined.
Of course, for non-Island people, its value can also be imagined.
In the blink of an eye, the bidding price for "Dainikkei" soared to over 10 million Hong Kong dollars.
The hotlines outside the venue have also become lively. In addition to the hotline of Lin Wanqiu's studio, there are also three internationally renowned auction houses. Their agents are directly stationed here to receive instructions from customers over the phone and participate in quotations.
This battle is so scary. Phenomenal scenes have occurred in the auction market recently.
Finally, after the early excitement passed, the customers who continued to bid were finally revealed.
Needless to say, Anzhai Yingyi, among the remaining people, Li Jianchen, an antique dealer in the new island, Hou Zhongjin, An Siyuan's agent, as well as the famous Christie's auction house phone seat, and Xu Zhantang, a great collector in Hong Kong Island, participated in this auction Huang Yinghao, who has just achieved a big harvest in the meeting, is already in a semi-retired state.
Lin Wanqiu's voice was very soft, and Zhou Zhi now almost understood that when this woman's voice was soft, it meant that she judged that the bidding was far from over based on the situation, and in this way, she conveyed the hint to all the guests.
"Eleven million! Mr. Zhou bids eleven million!" Lin Wanqiu's quotation continued.
Only then did everyone realize that there was actually a young man hiding among the big guys bidding!
This young man had been sitting in the front row, sitting next to the second oldest member of the Li family in the VIP area!
