Chapter 0220 A broken felt hat

Ada hasn't had decent food for several days. She is eight years old. Her father was killed when a tunnel collapsed when he was building a tunnel. Her mother ran away with a drunkard with a meager pension.

Only she, her two-year-old brother and her fourteen-year-old sister were left.

The burden of the family fell on her elder sister's shoulders. In order to support her younger brother and younger sister, Ada's older sister ran a spinning factory through connections.

Not long ago, Ada's sister was injured while working, and her little hand was penetrated by the weaving shuttle.

Misfortunes never come singly, and even greater misfortune befell this thin girl. Her wounds were infected and her fever continued. Now she could only lie in the hospital bed and be taken care of by her eight-year-old sister.

Ada looked for food everywhere and begged, but there was still no way to keep her brother and sister fed.

In order to let her brother and sister eat more, she has not eaten a grain of rice for two days and only drank a few bowls of hot water with dried grass.

I must go to the factory later to beg the foreman and beg him to let me work in the factory.

Hunger left her with no strength, and she almost didn't even have the strength to stand up.

"I'm selling my old shoes, hat, and clothes~"

In a daze, Ada couldn't believe her ears. There were actually people who wanted to buy old things, so she had to come to a place like them to collect them.

Ada's family didn't have any old shoes. The three siblings only had one pair of shoes. The older sister usually wore them when she went to work. She took her younger brother at home or went out to beg after his younger brother fell asleep without wearing shoes.

My sister said that when she turns twelve and can work in a factory, she will also buy her a pair of shoes.

There are no old clothes either. The clothes that don’t cover the body are probably them.

If she sees scraps of cloth thrown away by others outside, she will pick them up like a treasure. Her sister works in a factory and sometimes brings back some threads.

When you have more pieces together, you can sew them together to make clothes.

This is how my brother's clothes came to be.

You can't sell clothes. My sister said that girls should love themselves and dress neatly no matter how poor they are.

But hats do!

She climbed up hard and went to get the old felt hat on the wall, which was the only thing left by her father.

When my father was still alive, he liked to wear this shabby felt hat on rainy days. When he held her, she would huddle under this shabby felt hat, feeling that all the coldness and helplessness had disappeared.

Will Dad blame himself?

However, if we don't change some money, my sister may really die of illness, and my brother will starve to death. He is so hungry that he has no strength to speak, so he just sits quietly in the corner of the bed, the warmest place in the house, and occasionally makes a sound.

Slight whimpering.

Like a dying kitten.

Su Mo frowned and saw that his shoes were stained with an annoying black stain by the dirty water in the street. He turned around impatiently and saw a small figure wearing a big broken felt hat.

, walked slowly towards him.

Just now he turned his head when he heard the shouting, and stepped on the sewage.

"Do you want a hat? Can I have this one?" A child's voice was weak and feeble. Then Su Mo saw the other party taking off the hat and handing it to him. Behind the hat was an extremely pale and lifeless picture.

Small face.

"This hat... is really broken. You must have stolen it and sold it, right?" Su Mo took the hat in his hand and unexpectedly found that although the hat was broken, it was not very dirty. Its owner must usually have

Cherish it very much.

"No, this is my dad's hat. He is dead." The little girl smiled hard.

"What about your mother?" Su Mo's hand movements became gentle. He felt that he should not treat this hat roughly.

"Let's go, don't want us anymore." The little girl's efforts were a little difficult, and she finally couldn't keep smiling.

"Who else is there in your family?" Su Mo sighed, squatted down in front of the child, and reached out to wipe away the tears that had fallen.

"My sister, me, and my brother, sir, are you willing to buy this hat? It only costs fifteen copper coins." The little girl took a step back to avoid Su Mo's hand, but almost fell down.

"Fifteen copper coins, what are you going to use them for?" Su Mo asked curiously.

"I want to invite a priest for my sister and buy a cake." The little girl tried her best to shrink her arms and let her short sleeves cover as much of her cold skin as possible.

"If fifteen copper coins are not enough, ask the priest for more money." Su Mo ruthlessly broke the little girl's fantasy.

"I still have ten copper coins. I asked the priest. For just twenty copper coins, he will cast a purification spell and a healing spell on my sister, so that my sister will get better."

"Can you take me there to take a look?" Su Mo felt a little lumpy in his throat.

He had walked through the poorest alleys in Tallinn in the morning, but he had never been more moved than this scene.

"Sister said you can't bring strangers home." The little girl shook her head, but she couldn't hold on any longer. The violent shaking of her head gave her a huge dizziness, and she fell to the side.

Su Mo supported her and took out a bottle of healing potion from his backpack.

Pop open the cork and slowly pour it into the little girl's mouth. This medicine used by players has no special effect on NPCs, but it is perfectly fine to drink it as water.

The little girl did not faint completely. She bit her lip with difficulty to keep herself awake.

"I bought this hat. It is very important to me. I will pay a higher price. Now, kid, tell me where your home is and I will send you back. Don't worry, I am not a bad person.

"

The little girl didn't trust Su Mo very much. She insisted on leaving by herself, but did not object to Su Mo following him to her house.

It's a small shabby house, very small, low and humid, but the cracked areas on the outside are covered with mud so that the cold wind won't blow in, allowing the temperature inside to be at least a little higher than outside.

After Su Mo entered, he smelled a rotten smell.

Having experienced the battlefield, he knew very well that this was the smell of infection, and on the only bed covered with hay and rags and lint, lay a quiet girl. Without treatment, she would probably not survive the night.

A little boy huddled at the girl's feet and looked at her blankly. Even when Su Mo came in, he didn't even raise his head to look up.

The house is surrounded by walls and there is really nothing.

The hat in my hand is the family's few possessions.

"Sir, can you buy my hat now?" The little girl looked at Su Mo hopefully. She hoped that Su Mo would not suddenly change his mind after visiting her dilapidated home.

"Yes, I decided to buy this hat. Here are ninety-nine silver coins. I think this hat is worth so much. It is a magic hat." Su Mo fiddled with the hat and put it on.
