Chapter 1 The Destroyed Navy Dream

Han Yang sat on the bench outside the interview classroom of the sea school waiting for this year's admission results. He had no expression on his face, but his heart was irritated. This was his third year of applying for the Navy. Now he is 26 years old and does not have a stable job. The only remaining naval dream has become increasingly out of reach after the years have passed.

Suddenly, a tall man in a sea soul shirt walked past him, as if he was going to the classroom to deliver documents. He was tall and upright, tough, and looked particularly sunny when he greeted the examiner outside the classroom, and a little naughty in the blink of an eye. This is the image of the navy in Han Yang's heart. He thought that if he could pass the exam, he would become like this one day. It was not as embarrassed as a few years ago, when he secretly wore his uncle's sea soul shirt when there was no one around. Han Yang was short. When he was satisfied with his uncle's uniform, he saluted like a soldier, and walked with his chest, but as soon as he stood in front of the mirror, he immediately took off his clothes. Nothing could allow him to see the distance between his true self and his imagination than that dress.

"Hanyang, come."

Han Yang came back to his senses and looked at the classroom. It was Uncle Yin who was greeting him. Uncle Yin was his uncle's original subordinate.

Uncle Yin pursed his lips and said, "There is still little hope this year, there are too many competitors. You don't have any advantages in your appearance, physical fitness, and written test."

Han Yang thought to himself: Isn’t it because of height? If you don’t ask for less than 170, why should you write the standard to more than 160? He looked up at Uncle Yin, who was also less than 170.

Uncle Yin noticed his questioning gaze and explained: "It's different from ours back then. Our generation cannot keep up with the nutrition, so I'm not short."

The troops spoke very directly. Han Yang sighed silently and said, "Then I."

"I suggest you don't continue to apply. The older you are, the more fierce the competition is. Who doesn't want to recruit younger ones? It's been three years, so there's no need to try again."

Han Yang turned his head out the window.

"In this way, I heard from your uncle that you insist on taking the navy exam just because you like the sea very much. My comrade told me that our Qingdao is about to start an international cruise ship. They want to recruit half of the Chinese. The environment is good, and they still get US dollars. They are also at sea every day. If you want to try it, I will say hello, maybe it will be better than the army's treatment."

Han Yang looked at Uncle Yin helplessly, wanting to speak but stopping.

"To be honest, your mother and uncle are so worried about your affairs. I have really tried my best to the army. This is not something that can happen if it is related."

Uncle Yin said this, and Hanyang could only nod and thank him.

"That's right. I'll go say hello over there, probably no problem."

Yantai Naval Aviation Engineering College is full of students who will become officers in the future. Han Yang walked among them and once again felt like wearing that sea soul shirt. It was so inappropriate. He envied them very much. He had a bright future at a young age, unlike himself who had already stood in a denied future. Han Yang looked at the students in the yard and was a little angry. Why is our country not serving voluntarily?

Then he got on the high-speed train back to Qingdao. On the way, he made an appointment with his good friend Haimei to tell him about his depressedness today.

"You should have been prepared in your heart." Haimei had tall figure, with sharp eyebrows on her round oval face, which had a gentle and sharp feeling. Haimei was not amazing, but she looked very comfortable. When she was with her, Han Yang looked particularly thin. Her words came to her point of view. In fact, it was only Han Yang's expectation that she had lost the election. Today, it was nothing more than confirming the news.

"Yes, yes, aren't you looking forward to a miracle?" Han Yang looked a little handsome with his eyebrows raised. In fact, Han Yang was just short, with his three-dimensional facial features. With his own melancholy temperament, he was still a boy with outstanding appearance when sitting, but he himself seemed not to realize this.

"I think this is good, so you won't be thinking about this all the time. Only by putting it to death can you live a new life."

"The most humiliating thing is that he told me to apply for a cruise ship. Can a cruise ship be the same as the army? This is not the same nature at all. He might as well let me go to school as a security guard."

"Don't, even the security guard at the gate are soldiers."

Han Yang pursed his lips and took a sip of beer. They sat on the rocks by the sea and blew the sea breeze. The vast ocean under the sunset was particularly charming, and it formed a sharp contrast with the turbid land. It seemed that it was a new world, with infinite possibilities in it.

"Hey, what's going on with the cruise ship? What does it mean to send US dollars? Is it also calculated wages for Chinese people according to international standards?" Hai Mei turned her tone, and her eyes were shining.

"You know the money." Han Yang gave Haimei a blank look, "It seems that yes, all food and accommodation are included, and the minimum wage is more than 1,000 US dollars. I haven't asked carefully yet, he probably told me."

"He actually said that it may be better than the army's treatment. Isn't this an insult? No matter how good the cruise treatment of foreigners is, he can compete with our army. He is still a soldier! He can say anything." Han Yang continued angrily.

"Hey, why are you so angry?" Hai Mei made a move to fan the flames and calm Han Yang. Her joking look made Han Yang calmer.

"To be honest, I think the cruise ship he mentioned is really good. Do you not think about it at all?"

Han Yang didn't say anything, and he didn't know what better choice he had.

"My monthly salary is less than 5,000 yuan now, and there is no subsidy yet. Every day when I get home, I have to look at my unlucky stepmother's expression. If you don't go, you might as well give me the position." Haimei looked at Hanyang with a smile.

"You want to apply for a job by yourself. They just started recruiting people. You are good at English and you have a chance."

"Then I really went, it's perfect. This job is far away from the family, without expenses, and earn US dollars!" Haimei used her rich body language to outline the future, making Hanyang laugh. "Let's go together, what else do you have?" Haimei continued.

"No, I'm just a little unwilling to accept it." He curled his lips.

"Oh, take a step by step. At least it's better than on land."

Haimei said it well. One of the reasons why she and Han Yang can become such good friends is that they both have infinite yearning for the sea, so they love to come to the beach every time they chat.

"Okay, the boat goes to the bridge and see how it is straight." His eyes were empty and he looked ahead.
