Chapter 82 The Magic Statue of Amnesia

A series of cliffs are covered with various natural caves, which intersect each other, forming a maze located on the mountain wall.
"300 years ago, a golemn who escaped from the ruins of Azuma in the floating city used this place as a refuge." The old dragon turtle led Brian and Herist to a cave, and told them in an old and low voice:
"Although this is an amnesia golem, over time, with the memory of intermittent revival, this golem carved and painted the story about its owner, the great arcane Opus, Ferin Demon Aoi, fighting and hiding the treasure house of the color-resistant scroll."
"So, the reason why you took the risk of saving this escaped golem from the Blue Dragon Lich was that you predicted that it was the key to helping you get out of trouble."
Brian said thoughtfully, "So you hid it here specifically, just to wait for the arrival of someone who can help you get out of trouble."
"That's right." The old dragon turtle nodded awkwardly and smiled:
"After all, this golem is the closest partner of the great arcane Opus. The floating city of Azuma was the largest academic research center in the entire Neseril Empire. I don't believe that anyone will be unable to get any interest after knowing these secrets."
"I see."
Herist, who stood quietly beside Brian, suddenly answered, "A magic book left by the great arcane Opus during his lifetime, did you deliberately bring it to the Sage Library in Silver Moon City?"
"Yinyue City is the 'treasure of the North', a civilized settlement of the kind camp."
The old dragon turtle touched his white beard and said frankly: "If people want to learn about the ruins of the floating city of the Great Arcane, they must go to the Sage Library to find this book. In this way, at least they will help me screen out the people with evil thoughts."
Brian looked at the elf beside him and smiled at the old dragon turtle, "I have to admit that in order to get out of trouble, you don't want to fall into the hands of evil people, what you planned is indeed perfect."
He recalled what happened in the game. The location of the old dragon turtle was indeed discovered by a group of adventurers when they discovered the books in the Sage Library. In the end, this news unexpectedly attracted the attention of the public lord of Deep Water City and successfully rescued him.
From this we can see that even without his own participation, this old dragon turtle who is proficient in divination can be rescued by others.
Then, they did not discuss too much on this topic and continued to walk towards the depths of the cave.
"When the golem has yet to come here, these natural caves were occupied by a group of purple insects." The old dragon turtle said while leading the way, "Apart from the cave we were walking on, all other places have turned into ruins."
Brian looked around and said that as the old dragon turtle said, the terrain around everyone was full of wounds left by the residence of purple insects, and even many complex caves, which were destroyed when the purple insect carved out its gravel tunnel.
Fortunately, the purple insects here have been cleaned up long ago, otherwise, those who are good at creating tunnels must be wary of the possibility of the cave collapse at any time.
When they entered the depths of the cave, Brian saw traces left by carved digging on the walls, empty wall lamps dotted on the walls, and large chunks of stucco scattered on the floor, once brightly painted the scenes and texts.
This tunnel leads to a 50-foot long, 30-foot wide and 20-foot high passage.
In the dark and humid passage, bats made noises on the ceiling, the floor was filled with feces they left behind, and the walls in the depths were painted with colorful murals.
"The golemns that escaped from the Blue Dragon Lich regard this place as a hall for writing and recording history itself."
The old dragon turtle said, "I don't know which part of the body's part is broken. I always recall the past intermittently. I forgot it all the next day, so I suggested to it to record what it suddenly remembers. Oh, by the way, that amnesia-lost golem is called its Rainbow Hall."
After listening to the introduction of the old dragon turtle, Brian turned his eyes to the brightly colored murals on the wall.
Through a simple detection magic, he unexpectedly discovered that each painting emitted a faint magical aura.
Obviously, the reason why these paintings can be preserved until now is the same as new is due to the magical paint used to paint.
Then he stopped thinking about it and began to look at the history he wanted to convey in the painting one by one.
In these coherent paintings, he saw a group of iron golems standing neatly and orderly in a workshop similar to the assembly line workshop, crazily hammering the items on the table.
After careful observation, he realized that this was a group of iron golems engraved with magic runes. Their job was to constantly engrave magic runes on the product with both hands.
Because they were doing the same work every day, one of the iron golems began to become a little strange. From time to time, it looked up at the hourglass. When the charging time came, it immediately rushed off the workbench and ran out the door.
The iron golem beside it was very curious to see this. It found that a shell was left on the post of the iron golem that ran out first, and it was very confused.
The next day arrived soon, and the builders came to their jobs on time as usual, only the strange iron golem had not arrived yet.
Seeing the iron golem that had not returned for a long time, another iron golem began to worry. At the last moment of its preparation, the strange iron golem came over in time.
In this way, they began the boring work of engraving magic runes again.
Not long after, the strange iron golem stopped working and looked at the hourglass on the wall. It was half the time to charge, and its eyes flashing with glimmers showed a confused look.
Brian saw the simple painting in this strange iron golem that it was no longer in the mood to continue working.
It stood there blankly, but when the sand in the hourglass leaked, it ran out quickly as if it had been stimulant.

Another iron golem looked at the post of the iron golem that rushed out, leaving many shells. It seemed to be in order to clarify the situation, followed the shells on the ground and came to a sewer in the city. After it reached the end of the passage, the scene in front of it shocked it.
It saw the strange iron golem holding a net bag, happily playing in the waves, happily. When it returned to the shore, its right hand had been corroded by the sea water and became rusty.
After a few days, this strange iron golem returned to work again, and its entire body was rusted. Now it can only drag its weak body and walk to its post with difficulty.
Looking at the state of this strange iron golem, another iron golem shook his head. However, this time, the strange iron golem was about to leave his job before the sand in the hourglass leaked.
Seeing this, another iron golem immediately stopped it and told it not to continue playing in the water at the beach. However, this strange iron golem was like a demon, pushing away the persuasion of the iron golem and insisting on leaving the factory.
This strange iron golem came to the beach again along the sewer, standing stiffly on the beach, spreading its arms, allowing the waves to slap their rusty body, and enjoying the impact of the waves.
This time, it never returned to the shore, and only half of its rusty arms remained on the shore.
At this point, this coherent painting ended.
Seeing this, Brian vaguely felt that it was possible that the two iron golems had accidentally awakened their independent consciousness. The strange iron golem seemed to be dead on the road to chasing their dreams.
He laughed, feeling a little incredible, and even instinctively thought that this was probably the amnesia golem, a clever collaborative product that unexpectedly appeared due to memory disorder.
Then he continued to look at the next painting.
Unfortunately, what disappointed him was that the subsequent paintings were not as coherent as he had seen before, as if each painting represented a different meaning.
He found five more important information from these paintings for his next adventure.
The first mural depicts three arcane artists wearing the costumes of the Naserel era, who are adding various precious materials to a flat iron golem on the lab.
A bright sapphire was placed in the chest of the Iron Golem. The low end of the mural also marked the name of each arcane with ancient inscriptions, and there was a larger inscription below the scene.
The names of the three arcane artists are translated as Bron, Karin and Salisa.
The inscription reads: "Here, the Arcane Trio created the Sapphire Sweater."
Brian discovered that this iron golem was the companion of the strange iron golem.
Obviously, the abnormality in the factory was accidentally discovered by the arcane and reinforcing another iron golem that awakened its autonomous consciousness.
The second mural depicts the three arcanes handing over the strengthened iron golem to an elderly great arcane, one of whom also handed a sapphire fragment into the hands of the great arcane.
Ancient inscriptions marked the name of the great arcane, and there is a larger inscription below the scene.
The name translated as: Opus, the great arcane in Azuma City.
The inscription reads: "The Sapphire Sweater establishes a link with Opus, the great arcane of Azuma, the floating city."
The third mural paints a golem and the great arcane to put a golden scroll into a treasure house full of stars.
A blue light shot out from the gem on the golem's chest.
Below is a description engraved, with the inscription saying: "According to the order of the great arcane Opus, the Sapphire Shrine opened the treasure house of stars, hiding and guarding the color-resistant scrolls."
In the fourth mural, the great arcane Opus and the golden scroll engraved with runes are sealed into a sarcophagus.
Three arcanes who had strengthened the golem at the time cast magic on the great arcane who had their eyes closed.
The mourners gathered around, with small notes marking the names of these characters, and below is a larger inscription description.
The mark translated as the Great Arcane of Azuma City and his three students Bron, Kalin and Salisha.
The inscription reads: "The great arcane Opus entered an eternal sleep to escape the curse of the Naserel Empire and seal himself with the Naserel scroll."
The fifth mural depicts a blue dragon lich and his army of monsters descending into the ruins of the floating city of Azuma, who bombards the golem with dark power and throws it into the rifts of the sky.
There is a mark on the dragon's body and an inscription below it.
The name of the dragon lich is translated as: Kritzka.
The inscription reads: "The Sapphire Sentinel was destroyed in a terrifying battle with the dragon lich Kritzka."
…………
Seeing this, Brian completely understood the whole story of the whole incident.
He withdrew his gaze and signaled the waiting old dragon turtle to take him to see the amnesiac golem.
This is a tall and burly iron golem, which looks like it is carefully crafted from heavy metal.
It sat motionlessly on the ground, with a blurred light emitted from its eyes.
I don’t know if it was an illusion, but Brian actually saw inexplicable sadness in this blurred light.
"Who are you?" He looked at the sad golem, remained silent for a moment, and asked actively.
"Who am I?" Hearing his voice, the golem raised his head and a low and hoarse voice came from his mouth, "Who am I?..."
"I don't know who I am..." it scratched its head in confusion and whispered.
"The core of the soul has been corrupted by negative energy, resulting in the loss of memory." Herist, who was standing next to Brian, retracted his detection gaze and told him what he had checked.
Brian nodded slightly, thought for a moment, and said to the golem, "You can see that you are a constructed creature, but you look too strange because in my impression, constructed creatures do not have independent thinking."
In fact, ordinary constructed creatures do not have any thoughts, but the caster has a nine-ring spell called "Constructed Enlightenment" that allows them to truly gain life and independent thoughts.
However, in order to successfully release this spell, in addition to consuming a lot of energy (experience value) of the caster, it also requires a very special casting material: the brain of a humanoid creature who has died for no more than eight hours.
This kind of wisdom-enlightening technique will over time, and this constructed creature that is evoked with independent thoughts is also likely to recall the memory of the brain of this humanoid creature during its lifetime, and it is very likely that it will be completely awakened.
Through detecting magic, Brian could clearly feel that the golem in front of him did not obtain independent thoughts through this method.
From this we can see that the large section of the mural he saw with profound meaning was very likely to be true.
This reminded him of the higher creations recorded in the Sequin Scroll.
Could it be that this great arcane named Opus had been exposed to research on the creation of life, he thought to himself.
Otherwise, it would be difficult to explain clearly how these two golems awakened independent thoughts.
Brian felt a little incredible about his thoughts, after all, life creation is a existence that is regarded as a taboo by the Church of Gods.
"I... don't know why." The golem lowered his head, the light in his eyes dimmed a little, and a hint of sadness was revealed in his low and hoarse voice. "I feel like I have lost a lot of memories... many, many... memories... memories..."
"What about your master?" Brian's eyes flashed and he continued to ask.
"Master?" The golem suddenly raised his head, and then a hint of confusion and pain floated in his bright eyes, as if something he had clearly thought of just now suddenly disappeared.
"Is your master the great arcane Opus?" Brian said to the golem in a gentle tone, "Have he arranged a mission for you to protect the treasure house of all stars?"
He suddenly realized that this golem could have survived from the time of Naseril and had absolutely mastered some means of self-drawing energy.
For a moment, he actually had the urge to dismantle it and study it carefully.
However, he was soon suppressed again.
After all, no matter how you look at it, this golem is a complete living organism, and doing so is no different from dissecting a living humanoid creature.
Although he is also a spellcaster, he does not specialize in necromancer and blood secret techniques, so there will be instinctive repulsion for these operations.
"My master... do you know my master?..." Hearing Brian mention the name of the great arcane, the confusion in the golem's eyes disappeared, and drops of sad tears actually poured out from its eyes.
Seeing this, Brian was moved.
He thought for a moment and said to the golem in a sincere tone:
"Yes, I know your master. After all, I have read all the murals you left on the wall. From these messages, I know that you are actually the sapphire guard guarding the treasure house of the stars.
Unfortunately, you lost your memory in the battle with a blue dragon lich that invaded the treasure house. If you don't want your master to be disturbed by the invaders to the eternal sleep, take us to the ruins of the floating city of Azuma. We will help you drive away the blue dragon lich, and you continue to fulfill your mission of protecting your master."
Although his words were long, he deliberately spoke very slowly, trying to make the golem understand what they meant.
During the long silence of the golem, everyone cooperated to keep quiet.
I don't know how long it took, the golem suddenly raised his head, looked at Brian, and continued to say in a low and hoarse voice, "Sorry, I really don't remember what happened before, and I don't remember the location of Azuma, the floating city."
It stood up from the ground, took heavy steps, looked at the brightly colored paintings on the wall, unconsciously reached out and stroked the portrait of the great arcane, and said sadly:
"But... my subconscious mind told me that what you said is true. In fact, I can feel that there is a teleportation array hidden in my chest. Kind adventurers, if you believe me, I am willing to open the teleportation array and go to the unknown place together."
Brian saw that there was indeed a bright sapphire hidden in an 8-inch stone disc on the golem's chest.
The surface of the disc is engraved with blue circles, with eight golden lines on it, which are emitted from the circle like the sun's rays.
He looked at Herist, who nodded slightly, indicating that there was no problem.
"No problem, we are willing to take risks and help you fulfill your wishes." Brian's eyes met the confused golem and nodded.
"Thank you so much, kind adventurer."
The golem blurted out with excitement, and tears of joy gushed out of his eyes.
