Chapter 16 Eat Soft Rice

Subtitle of this chapter: Three great events in the life of a master: A book made a name for a dead wife

As a master's degree in economics in the 21st century, Yuan Yanshu, who has memorized the history of economics in the 20th century, naturally knew that the mainstream economics community is currently engaged in a debate about whether a socialist economy is a socialist or capitalist. At that time, well-known economists were involved in this debate on whether a planned economy under socialist public ownership is feasible.

Needless to say, as a master of neoclassical liberalism, can Master Mises sing praises for the planned economy? Just look at the "Edler (Edler is aristocrat in literally, usually given to Jews."" and "Von" in the middle of his name. As a nobleman and a Jewish upper class, he certainly opposed socialism.

PR Misera, who is also an economic adviser in the Austrian government, published an article titled "Economic Calculation under the Socialist System" this spring, denied that socialism has the possibility of implementing economic calculations and rationally allocating resources.

A person with a good level can say simple things and complex things are simple.

Yuan Yanshu was still a bit skillful. He knew that Mises's main argument for denying the planned economy was that the capitalist market was so complex that it could not be artificially imitated, so the planned economy could not allocate resources as effectively as this invisible hand.

In fact, this statement is not completely fine. First, whether the capitalist market can really allocate resources effectively. Second, whether the efficient allocation of resources is equivalent to allocating resources in line with the actual situation of each economy.

The former, in nine years, you will understand when everyone watches milk pouring into the Hudson River; the latter, and the latter, the Soviet Revisit and TG, which violate the laws of the market economy and concentrate resources on heavy industry and infrastructure projects that are long-term and have little returns, are they considered "effective"?

However, it is not yet the Great Depression of 1929, and the capitalist world has not yet fallen to the point of waiting for Keynes and the Beard to save it. This matter is still a bit unreasonable. In 1920, when liberalism was in power, it was naturally more than enough to exchange Mises' "Socialism" for a Ph.D. in political economy.

The problem is that Yuan Yanshu knew that once he threw out this book, it would be equivalent to being self-discriminated from the party, state and people. There is more than one party, state, and the people here are not just referring to 400 million Chinese people. Not to mention that the storm and big and small figures in the international communist movement that will be prosperous for more than half a century in the future cannot tolerate him. In fact, even Sun Tiequan, who can't live for a few years and Jiang Beilu, who has only been thirty years, can't tolerate him. Don't think that if both of them are doctors in the United States, they will really go to the capitalist free market economy.

If Yuan Yanshu still makes a living in the economic circle in the future, his treatment will not be much better than Mises. Unless in the 1970s, neoclassical liberalism finally ushers in a second spring, he will not only be able to counterattack Keynesianism, but also transform into Thatcher-Reaganism, which dominates the two major powers of Britain and the United States. Fortunately, at the same time, "a vain-loving fool" (Mrs. Thatcher's comment) became the General Secretary of the Soviet Communist Party.

In fact, when Comrade Gorbachev came to power, Yuan Yanshu was only 85 years old... It's not a joke, but it's not a 80-year-old master at all; there is no disrespect at all. Some masters are over 90 years old and even ask for a bride in forty years old.

Imagine that 85-year-old myself (if I get it alive) walked onto the Nobel Prize podium tremblingly... or I would have bought a diploma from Clayton University and returned to China to go to the local master to eat and wait for death. If it really doesn't work, I'll go to the bank opened by my father-in-law and have a soft meal.

The problem is that this soft rice is not that delicious, because his wife, to be precise, is that her fiancée is dead.

There was a man named Zhou in their hometown who opened an iron shop in Shanghai to make a fortune. He also organized a small bank with his fellow villagers, called "Dianjin Bank", and he was honored as a manager. He remembered the idiom of returning home in glory. One year, he took the Qingming Festival to go back to the county to worship the temple and visit the tombs and meet local people. Yuan Yanshu's father was the hope of the village, and Manager Zhou was forced to visit him, so he became a friend and became a relative of his family. He was still in high school, so he became engaged with his family.

Of course, like most masters of the Republic of China, he also resisted this arranged marriage. However, Yuan Yan was weak and gave up after being scolded by his father.

So he started studying Schopenhauer very early and often said to his classmates cleverly: "Where is love in the world? It's just a reproductive impulse."

After graduating from high school, Yuan Yanshu went to Shanghai Hujiang University (the predecessor of Shanghai Science and Technology) to continue his further studies. In a blink of an eye, it was the fourth year of university, and he was just waiting for graduation and getting married next year. One day, his father sent a letter, saying: "I got the telegram from your father-in-law and scared that Shuying (his fiancée's boudoir name) was typhoid fever, and was mistaken by Western medicine. So he passed away at four o'clock in the afternoon of the 13th of this month, which is very regretful. When you pass by, you have good things to do, and you have no blessings."

As a Western doctor, Yuan Yanshu's father wrote a letter to his son that his wife, who could get a real estate certificate without even adding a name, was unfortunately killed by Western magic because of her slap. This only means that his son is not lucky, and a well-educated and well-off family like the old Yuan family will not be a doctor.

After the letter, he added a few more words: "How can you know that it is not a blessing if you lose your horse? If you get married three years ago, then your family will spend money this time. However, if your family has accumulated virtue, if the marriage is completed early, your wife may be able to escape from disaster and prolong your life. If the marriage is settled before the marriage, you should not be sad. But your father-in-law should send a letter to mourn him."

His father also knew the chaos theory, so he wrote at the end of the letter: It may not be a bad thing for an old driver to get out of a car because he lost his horse. What if he caught the crackdown? If you got married three years ago, my family would have a heavy bleeding this time. However, if the marriage was done three years ago, your wife might not have to die because of the butterfly effect. You don’t have to think too much about this matter, but you should write a condolence letter to your father-in-law.

In fact, Yuan Yanshu saw the joy of being pardoned by a prisoner, but he was a little sympathetic to the short-lived girl. She enjoyed the joy of freedom and was willing to reduce the sorrow of others, so she sent a long letter of condolence to the father-in-law of the family. When Manager Zhou received the letter, he felt that the child knew the etiquette, so he paid the replies to Director Wang of the Library Department in the Bank. When the director of the Library Department saw the original letter, he praised the boss for his good literary and calligraphy, and he was deeply in love with the deceased. He wanted to see that his nature was very strong, so he must be a tool that was far away. (Note 1)
