224 Antong County(1/2)

Antong County is located in the upper reaches of the Wujiang River. When the giant ship arrived, it was already early the next morning.

The White Lotus Cultivators put down the boat board, and Qin Yuesheng walked down. He was going to come here to investigate the reason why the team of people in the Seven Stars Cultivators disappeared inexplicably. He did not expect that the White Lotus Cultivators would find the Big Buddha Cave on the way.

Seeing this group of people in white clothes coming, the people of Antong County were curious and poked their heads out of the doors and windows of their own homes and looked at them.

"You can do it yourself, don't follow me. You have to return to the boat before noon. If anyone dares to delay, I will take off his head." Qin Yuesheng said.

"Yes!" Everyone quickly disbanded on the spot, and soon Qin Yuesheng was left on the street.

After walking dozens of feet forward, Qin Yuesheng thought about it and then walked in.

"What do you want to be?" a young man asked, standing behind the counter.

Qin Yuesheng looked at him. This person had a sick look, his face was scary, and his eyes were even dark and purple, just like he had been beaten.

"I want to ask you for some information."

"We are pawnshops, where did we get the news?"

Qin Yuesheng took out a silver ingot and patted it on the counter. Suddenly, the entire silver ingot fell into the table and printed a pit directly on the table.

"What I want to ask is not confidential information. Not long ago, did you have a group of people from other places come to your town?"

When the young man saw the silver ingots given by Qin Yuesheng and saw Qin Yuesheng's move, his mouth became honest and he hurriedly said: "Customer, there are people from other places coming by our Antong County. If you ask this, I can't explain it clearly."

Qin Yuesheng thought that the last time Zuo Zonghao and his group came from Chang'an to Qingyang City, they were all wearing government offices, and the group of seven-star supervisors sent to Antong County to investigate should not be exceptional.

Qin Yuesheng said: "It's a group of foreign officials, all wearing official uniforms."

"Oh, I remembered it as soon as you said this. There was indeed a group of officials who came to our town not long ago." The young man nodded dullly.

"Do you know where they went later?" Qin Yuesheng asked.

"I don't know very well. I only know that an official came to ask me about someone who had met a water ghost at home in our county. He seemed to be looking at him."

Qin Yuesheng's eyes lit up. This was a breakthrough news.

"There are some of them, tell me, forget it, just write it down."

At Qin Yuesheng's request, the young man had to bring paper and pen and write down the information he knew.

After he stopped writing, the paper was filled with words, such as the Zhang family, the Li family, and the Wang family.

"Do you often have water ghosts?"

"I can't tell you, I don't know what's going on. Those things often crawl out of the Wujiang River at night. Every household in our evening had to close the doors and windows, otherwise if they were accidentally broken in by those things, the whole family's life would be lost."

Seeing that the young man didn't even dare to mention the word "water ghost" and just replaced it with those things, Qin Yuesheng said nothing and took the paper and left the pawnshop.

Speaking of Antong County, it is also strange. Everyone on the road was either wearing an umbrella or a hat, with each of them listless and unanimous.

Qin Yuesheng couldn't help but worry about the situation of the water ghost here. What a terrifying water ghost that could scare the people of a county so much.

The center of the county town is a square paved with stone bricks. A thick tree stands in the center of the square. The dense branches and leaves grow extremely densely, like a canopy.

Several children with braids were squatting under the big tree and playing crickets. Qin Yuesheng was thinking that he didn't know the situation in Antong County. Even if he had the piece of paper in his hand, he could not accurately find the person recorded above.

So Qin Yuesheng walked towards the big tree, wanting to ask a child to be a guide to lead the way for him.

"Bite it, bite it."

Two crickets confronted each other in the bamboo bowl, jumped out from time to time and collided with each other, and the battle was quite fierce.

When Qin Yuesheng came over, a child raised his head and looked at Qin Yuesheng with confusion.

"Child, are you interested in making money?" Qin Yuesheng took out a silver ingot: "With this money, wouldn't it be more interesting to play with dogs and cocks?"

"Dog fight?"

"cockfighting?"

But I had never heard of this kind of gameplay. Several children immediately expressed their interest and stood up and asked, "What is dog fighting and cock fighting?"

Qin Yuesheng said: "One of you raises a dog and a chicken. When they grow up, they will be locked together and fight together. They will be almost the same as fighting crickets, but it will be even more intense."

The child nodded repeatedly: "Okay, okay! I want to make money, I want to play dogs and cockfights."

Qin Yuesheng handed him the silver ingot: "I just came to your Antong County and am not very familiar with the terrain. You can take me to these places, and the money is yours."

As he said that, Qin Yuesheng said the names of the residents recorded on the paper.

"Miss Wang's house, I know, I'll take you there."

"I also know the homes of Grandpa Li and Widow Zhao, as well as Grandma Zhang and Uncle Zheng."

"I know……"

"I know……"

Seeing these children speaking enthusiastically, Qin Yuesheng touched one of them and said, "Don't be anxious, let's come one by one, go to the first family first."

When Qin Yuesheng withdrew his hand, he saw several strands of hair inexplicably between his fingers. He couldn't help but wonder: "Does children now start to lose their hair so early? I didn't use much force."

The children picked up the windmill next to them and immediately ran out of the shadow under the tree happily and headed towards an alley in the distance.

"It's so innocent." Qin Yuesheng said intimately and immediately followed.

As these children walked all the streets, Qin Yuesheng came to an old house in a short while. He saw that the roof of the house was messy and the window frames were ragged, which looked like a house that had been unoccupied for a long time.

"Auntie Wang! Auntie Wang! There is an older brother coming to find you." The child knocked on the door and shouted.

However, there was no response, and no one came out to open the door.

Qin Yuesheng said: "You guys wait here first, I'll go in and take a look."

He jumped up and jumped onto the roof easily, jumping into the broken hole in the roof.

The whole house was filled with a musty smell, such as tables, chairs, bowls, chopsticks, and basins. However, there was a lot of dust on it. It was obvious that no one had lived here for a long time.

Qin Yuesheng walked to the backyard and opened the door. The backyard was surrounded by mud walls. A small piece of vegetables in the vegetable field were yellow and black on the ground. Several dried fish and ribs strung with iron hooks were hung on the bamboo hanging pole next to it. They were already smelly and rotten, and many flies were buzzing around the fish.

"Well..." Qin Yuesheng pondered, then turned out the room again.

"Brother, is Aunt Wang not here?" a child asked with his head raised.

"Well, we're not here, let's go to the next place to take a look." Qin Yuesheng nodded and responded.

At this moment, he suddenly noticed the long-lived lock on the child's neck. He saw that several cracks were clearly visible on the lock surface, and some black solid remained in the crack.

Before Qin Yuesheng could see more, the group of children ran towards the next family, still looking happy.

After checking several households, they all turned out to be the same. The house was empty and dust was everywhere.

According to the pawn shop youth, these places were the places where the Seven Star Criminal officials would go to check before. First, the Seven Star Criminal officials disappeared. Now they have found that all the residents who had encountered water ghosts have disappeared.

Suddenly, a layer of suspicion was shrouded in Qin Yuesheng's heart.

Will there be any relationship between the two?

When the last place on the paper was found, Qin Yuesheng had no choice but to stuff the paper into his arms and said to the children: "Thank you for your hard work, let you run for so long."

"Brother, these uncles, aunts and mother-in-laws are not at home. You shouldn't have to go back for this money, right?" the child asked reluctantly with the silver ingots in his hand.

"Don't worry, the money is still yours. Now do me your last favor and take me to your county government office in Antong County. Then you can leave." Qin Yuesheng said.

Since the only clue in his hand is useless, Qin Yuesheng had to go to meet with the local county magistrate first, and maybe he could learn from him about the officials of the Seven Stars Supervision.

Whenever members of the Seven Stars Supervision go to a local area to do business, they will go to the local government office first and ask local officials to cooperate with each other. This is a decisive rule. Bai Hao and Zuo Zonghao did this at the beginning.

The group of Seven Stars Supervisors who came here to investigate had no reason not to visit the county magistrate here.

Under the leadership of this group of children, Qin Yuesheng soon came outside the Antong County Government.

The dilapidated drums of injustice are all fallen leaves on the ground, and two listless guards, the entire Antong County Government revealed a dilapidated atmosphere.

As soon as Qin Yuesheng walked over, a yamen runner immediately stretched out his wooden stick and stopped him: "What are you doing? Go and beat the drum in advance."

"I'm not here to make a fuss. I'll meet your county magistrate."

"You can see the county magistrate as soon as you say you can see it? What is your identity?"

"Go to report to you, and just say that an official from Qingyang City is here." Qin Yuesheng took out a tael of silver and handed it over.

For Qin Yuesheng, things that can be solved with money are the best. There is no need to be arrogant with such a lower class and cause any disputes to waste time.

Sure enough, everyone was jealous of money. When they saw Qin Yuesheng handing over the silver, the man immediately reached out to take it, and even his tone became polite: "It's okay to say it, little brother, please wait first, I'll report to the county magistrate now."

Seeing his face full of surprise, from his cold and disdain to humble and flattering expression, he wanted to exchange for himself by smiling respectfully and giving him more silver. Qin Yuesheng couldn't help but nodded with a smile. The happiness of rich people is often so simple and boring.

Soon, the man ran out quickly, nodded and smiled, "Sir, please come in."

After learning that Qin Yuesheng was an official from Qingyang City, even his verbal title changed. Qin Yuesheng walked directly into the yamen and led him to the side hall. At this time, a big man with an ordinary appearance was sitting behind the desk. When he saw Qin Yuesheng coming in, he immediately stood up and asked, "Is it uncle Ning Hou Bo, the county magistrate of Xia'antong County, I wonder if he is?"

Qin Yuesheng took out his own bronze toad official order and held it in front of him. Originally, Qin Yuesheng had two bronze toad official orders, but in order to get the pill, he put the piece that Zuo Zonghao gave him to him in Xu Chang's place before he could redeem it.

"Is this?" Uncle Ning was stunned, with a confused look on his face.

"Don't you recognize this official order?"

"I am sorry that I am superficial and I don't know if I can explain this official order."

I thought that all officials in the Tang Dynasty knew about the Seven Star Prison, but I didn’t expect that the county magistrate in front of me would not know. Then Qin Yuesheng could not take the Seven Star Prison to show his identity, so I had to say helplessly: “I am the adjutant of Xun Sheng, the prefect of Qingyang City, Lord Xun, Qin Yuesheng.”

"It turns out that it is Lord Qin, and the officials have been admired for a long time." Uncle Ning Hou hurriedly bowed his hand and said.
