Chapter 1005 Yao Qisheng

In the 18th year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi, Liu Guoxuan, Wu Shu, He You and others occupied Ouxitou of Guotang and were preparing to destroy Jiangdong Bridge to capture Changtai.

Yao Qisheng and Laita, Yang Jie and Governor Wu Xingzuo worked together to chase and annihilate Zheng Jin's army, and surrendered more than 400 officials and more than 14,000 soldiers.

In May, Liu Guoxuan, Wu Shu and others led more than 10,000 people to capture Jiangdong Bridge, Liushan Village, Yao Qisheng Tonglai Tower, Shi Tusheng defeated him, and went to Taiping Bridge, Chaogou, and killed more than a thousand enemies.

In February of the 19th year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi, Yao Qisheng and Laita, Yang Jie and Shi Diaosheng supervised the troops to attack Haicheng County, and the admiral Wan Zhengse conquered Haitan. Yao Qisheng and Lai and general Zhao Deshou and Huang Dalai divided their troops into seven groups to attack and defeated the enemy's 19 camps.

He also sent troops to cross the sea, captured Kinmen and Xiamen, and surrendered puppet generals Zhu Tiangui, Yang Biao and others. He restored his merits in Changtai and other counties and was appointed as the Minister of War and the Prince Taibao.

Just as Yao Qisheng reached the peak of his life, some of his actions also aroused the dissatisfaction of court officials.

Xu Yuanwen, who was the censor of the Left Capital at the time, wrote a memorial to impeach Yao Qisheng, saying that he "has heard the filthy achievements and was alone in the army, so he took military achievements and used impersonation as a practical matter, and committed suicide by doing nothing for himself."

Xu Yuanwen was impeaching Yao Qisheng for his rewards, embezzling other people's property for himself, and then taking it out to make capital for his military merits.

Because before Yao Qisheng became famous, he was just a low-level criminal who fled repeatedly and was dismissed. He had no money to recruit soldiers and also had a huge guard (historical records say that when Yao Qisheng was the governor, he had more than 3,000 personal guards).

In addition, Xu Yuanwen also accused Yao Qisheng of his private life and demolishing residential buildings, with thousands of servants and countless dancers and singers.

He was nearly 60 years old and forced the granddaughter of the Changtai County gentry Dai Ji as his concubine. Finally, Xu Yuanwen gave a summary suggestion:

It is not a blessing for the people of Fujian to entrust the border. I beg the Ministry to investigate and discuss it strictly, thinking that the ministers are treacherous and private.

Xu Yuanwen's accusations are not groundless. Yao Qisheng does have many problems himself, and his character remains to be discussed.

But it is very outstanding in terms of ability, and this period is a critical moment when Kangxi regains Taiwan.

Therefore, he gave Yao Qisheng the opportunity to defend himself and was awarded the position of the hereditary cavalry commander and the Yiyun cavalry commander.

In August of the 22nd year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi, Shi Lang conquered Taiwan and Yao Qisheng returned troops to Fuzhou.

In the process of regaining Taiwan, Yao Qisheng's contributions were unquestionable, even greater than Shi Lang.

When Yao Qisheng was about to recover Taiwan, Kangxi sent Shi Lang to the main attack.

This is equivalent to a disguised overthrow. After capturing Taiwan, all the credit was taken away by Shi Lang, and the early preparation was also very important.

But the court and history ignored this and attributed all the credit to Shi Lang.

However, Shi Lang was recommended by Yao Qisheng himself. I am afraid that only Yao Qisheng knows the various feelings in his heart.

After returning to Fuzhou, Yao Qisheng was depressed. Soon after, his old illness relapsed and died of illness in Fuzhou at the age of 60.

This is actually a "fight" between Kangxi as the ruler and Yao Qisheng as the subject.

Kangxi must have slashed Yao Qisheng's arrogance before he would airborne a general without warning and rob the credit that should have belonged to Yao Qisheng.

However, as smart as Yao Qisheng, he also saw through this point and his life was just a pawn in the hands of the emperor.

Even if you have the Qing Dynasty and the world, you can't escape the ending of being at the mercy of others.

In this battle with the emperor, I was defeated. But who has ever come to the forefront of history?

When Shi Lang came to Beijing to meet Kangxi and was named the Marquis of Jinghai, who was hereditary, Yao Qisheng had already passed away at the age of 60.

According to convention, after the death of a magistrate, the court will make some statements, not to be promoted to a higher position, give a suitable posthumous title, etc.

Yao Qisheng was different from the general governor. After all, he made military achievements. However, Kangxi did not grant funerals or posthumous titles as usual, and there was no official summary tribute.

This shows that Kangxi did not make a final decision on Yao Qisheng's conscience, and he was generally still negative.

In fact, Yao Qisheng's image is also very ordinary in the minds of the people of Fujian.

Although Wu Xingzuo, the governor of Fujian at the same time, was not praised by Kangxi, the local officials and people supported him after his death and called on him to be a good official sacrifice. However, Yao Qisheng was not.

Shortly after Yao Qisheng's death, the Censor of the Court pursued him for building ships, and his military deficit was 47,000 taels of silver, and requested Kangxi to deal with it seriously.

Kangxi thought of Yao Qisheng's hard work during his lifetime and was spared from the pursuit, which gave Yao Qisheng some face.

As the emperor and the ruler of an empire, Kangxi did not like Yao Qisheng's character, and he did not fully accept this minister who worked hard and made great contributions.

Because Kangxi understands better than anyone else that although Yao Qisheng is grateful for his kindness and admires his talent and strategy, he actually does not accept himself and cannot stand the hypocrisy and cunning in the officialdom.

Looking at Yao Qisheng's life, we can summarize it by the word "pride". Kangxi can be described as "love and hate" to him.

He did not obey Kangxi like Li Guangdi, nor did he contradict him like Zhou Peigong.

Instead, there was some rebellion in obedience, some rebellious in admiration, and a clever tongue, which mocked the officials in the court to the point of being ironic.

The so-called deep love and high responsibility, and his love and sense of responsibility for this country made him extremely critical, just to bring a hint of breeze to the dirty officialdom at that time.

Although his personal efforts are like a mayfly shaking a big tree in the face of the general environment, his character is worthy of admiration for future generations.

In order to make up for the losses caused by the ban on the sea and blocking Taiwan to the coastal residents, Kangxi ordered that all residents who moved to the land could get land and silver, but the actual silver that the people received was far less than what they should get.

Yao Qisheng knew in his heart that this was the result of being detained by officials at all levels, but he was still powerless in the face of the blame.

He said that he hated these borers to death, but in order to complete the maritime ban, he had to do so.

This helplessness is the conscience of the officials, the true compassion for the people, and the soberness and negativity of seeing through the world.

In fact, when it comes to Yao Qisheng's character, he really doesn't exist. No matter how others comment on him, Yao Qisheng is a traitor in Zhu Youjian's heart.

Although this man was very capable, he took the initiative to surrender and helped the east to encircle and suppress the Ming army, which was unforgivable by Zhu Youjian.

But that is history, and now Zhu Youjian has changed history.

Now Yao Qisheng has no chance to surrender to the Eastern Capitol, and the Eastern Capitol has long been destroyed.

Zhu Youjian could not think that Yao Qisheng would kill him inexplicably in the later generations.

So Zhu Youjian fell into deep thought for a while, and he could not find a reason to punish Yao Qisheng for the time being.

Also, this person is of some use. At least he is performing well and loves the people very much.

Forget it, let’s see the situation in the future. I wanted to have a good talk with Yao Qisheng.

But thinking that Yao Qisheng was also a traitor in history, Zhu Youjian suddenly lost that interest.
