There are many folk legends about the invention of fireworks. Among them, the story of Li Ting, the "firecracker ancestor", is the most widely circulated. "History of Tang Dynasty" records: Li Ting, a native of Shangli Mashishi, Yuanzhou Prefecture, West Road, Jiangnan. He was born on April 18th in the fourth year of Wude in the Tang Dynasty (621 AD). Emperor Li Shimin, the Emperor of Tang Dynasty, was entangled by mountain ghosts and was ineffective for a long time. He then issued an edict to seek medical treatment. Li Ting, a 24-year-old hunter, responded to the imperial edict and announced the list. He used the principle of using earth guns to carry out hunting and used bamboo tubes to load the nitrous oxide.

He drove out the evil spirit of the mountain mandrill and restored the emperor's dragon body, so he appointed Li Qi as the ancestor of firecrackers. The people of Shangli have always worshipped Li Qi. As early as the third year of Hongwu (1370 AD), the great ancestor of the Ming Dynasty (1370 AD), the "Divine Pose of the ancestor of firecrackers Li Qi" was established in the Yousheng Temple in the Shangli South Street, which was built in the ninth year of the Eastern Jin Dynasty (354 AD). Every April 18th, people engaged in the firecrackers came here to mourn the ancestors and continued to this day.
