Chapter six hundred and sixty-one threat

Half a month after the Manila Merchant Uprising, Liu Wang from the Jiuzhou Army came to Manila under the escort of two sail frigates.

The Manila colonial authorities were facing a great enemy. The warships anchored in Manila and the armed merchant ships came out in full swing and confronted Liu Wang and the others at the port. When they learned about Liu Wang's purpose, they breathed a sigh of relief. Fortunately, the other party was not here to fight.

Liu Wang carried a cloak, and behind him were several soldiers of Jiuzhou Army with a tiger back and a bear waist. They went down to the port to see the Spanish soldiers who were guarding against him.

These Jiuzhou soldiers came from the north and were Liu Wang's guards, and were no less physical than the colonization of some Nordic mercenaries.

A colonial official brought Spanish soldiers over and saw the soldiers of the Jiuzhou Army who were alone in Manila. He didn't know whether they were brave or too confident in their strength, but since the other party dared to go to the meeting alone, it was enough to show a lot of things.

"I am Viscount Castle. Our Governor is not here, and we will give me full authority to negotiate." The leading colonial official asked, "I don't know who you are from the Eastern Empire?"

"I am a general of the Jiuzhou Army. You can call me General Liu, the person sent by the Nanyang Fleet to negotiate with you." Liu Wang said.

"I don't know what you want to negotiate? Last time, almost all of our strongholds in eastern Yizhou were removed by you, just because you claimed that your land was temporarily. But the Manila we occupied is not your land in China." Castle said.

"Although Manila is not our land, the people who make a living on the land are our people. We need to ensure their safety." Liu Wang said.

"They lived here hundreds of years ago, paying taxes to the indigenous kingdoms here, and have nothing to do with you. Why do you come over and make things difficult for us for them?" Castle heard Liu Wang's tone, roughly for the arrested Manila merchants.

"If you are a Chinese for a day, you will be a Chinese for a lifetime! As long as they admit that they are Chinese businessmen, I will ensure their safety." Liu Wang did not show any weakness!

Castle sweated coldly on his forehead, thinking that the Jiuzhou Army was too domineering, and he actually dared to come over with great fanfare and directly claimed to protect the Manila Chinese businessmen here.

For a moment, the two sides were at odds, and a tense atmosphere spread across the port, and some colonial soldiers had taken the combs from behind.

"We Han people have a saying that we are from afar, so are we just standing on the dock and talking?" Liu Wang said again.

He really doesn't regard himself as an outsider! In order to show his gentlemanly demeanor, Castle had to say to Liu Wang: "Come with me, let's talk to the Governor's Mansion."

Castle led Liu Wang and the others to the Governor's Mansion. The stone wall destroyed by shells opposite the Governor's Mansion has not been cleaned yet, and there are scratches on the ground. It seems that because there are blood stains that are difficult to clean, they are forced to scrape them off with iron or sand.

In Manila, there are still some places where the city was burned by flames. It shows that a fierce battle broke out here not long ago.

"What have you deal with those dead soldiers?" Liu Wang asked.

"They are all rebels. They beheaded according to our actions against the rebels. They were afraid of causing plague a few days ago, so they were buried." Castle said.

"Where is the captured businessman?" Liu Wang asked again.

"All the guards must be detained and the rebels must be found in order to release them." Castle said.

"Half a month has passed, and you don't plan to release them yet. When will you track them down?" Liu Wang said.

"At least they have to confess that the rebels who have participated in the rebellion and have to escape come out of the mountains and forests to surrender." Castle said.

"Hmph, do you know how much damage does Manila merchants cause to our Jiuzhou Army every day detained?" Liu Wang snorted coldly.

"What does it have to do with the Jiuzhou Army when we arrest the merchants in Manila?" Castle couldn't help but feel depressed.

"First, Manila merchants trade the most with our southeast coast and the Jiaozhi Governor. After they were arrested, many of our originally ordered goods were delayed in trading, and many merchants had already asked us for help. Second, if even the Chinese merchants in Manila could not protect them, our merchants would be in panic and unable to trade with peace of mind, which would be a huge harm to our merchants' enthusiasm! Third, many merchants in Manila were not overseas Chinese, but merchants who came to Luzon to trade normally on the southeast coast. They were stranded here and arrested by you as rebels. This is not to catch the wrong person or what is it." Liu Wang blamed.

After hearing Liu Wang's accusations, Castle couldn't help but sweat and could not refute it. Liu Wang was completely on the standpoint of Chinese businessmen in China. He seemed to have not defended the Chinese businessmen in Manila, but he pointed the contradiction directly at the uprising of Manila's businessmen. The general meaning is that you must let others go, otherwise it will cause great trouble to us Chinese businessmen.

"General Liu, what if we decide not to let anyone go? These rebels suddenly attacked the Governor's Mansion half a month ago and set fire in the city, causing us huge casualties. The house collapsed countless times, 31 soldiers died, and more than 100 injured people. They must pay the price for their betrayal." Castle said.

"According to me, I know that the rebels have been basically suppressed by you. The only rebels who escaped were only a small team, fleeing to the mountainous areas where the natives were. If you insist on annihilation, I will not object at all. But the Chinese merchants in the city are innocent, and you must release them immediately, otherwise you will face revenge from our Jiuzhou Army." Liu Wang sat at the negotiating table and said coldly to Castle.

"Revenge? How about revenge?" Castle asked cautiously.

"We will declare war on Manila. On the one hand, like you, we will seize all Spanish merchants in our territory under our control, and order all Chinese merchants not to sell porcelain, tea, silk and other goods to the Spanish fleet. On the other hand, we will form a huge fleet, come to Manila to pick up our merchants, and destroy Manila by the way." Liu Wang crossed his hands in front of his chest and said calmly.

"You..." Castle's tone became trembling when he saw Liu Wang threatening.

The Jiuzhou Army imposed economic and military sanctions! But the Spanish Empire's invincible fleet was taught several times by Great Britain and was trapped in the quagmire of war in Europe. They really could not bear the heavy consequences of losing the market in the Far East.
