Chapter 1530: Plundering the Imperial City

Qin Zuoming led the army of the East India Company to Agra, the imperial city of the Mughal Empire. Agra was filled with fleeing princes, ministers and civilians, who wanted to leave from this city that began to become dangerous.

After the defeat of the eldest prince Dalahiko, he fled to the northwest. The third prince Aurangzebu fled south to his base camp Deccan Plateau. The Indian princes who met were scattered in groups of birds and beasts. After they knew that they could not defeat the terrible enemy, they thought they could return to their fiefdom and keep their own one acre of three-point land. Even the eldest prince and the third prince ran away, who else could defend the imperial city?

Qin Zuoming set up checkpoints at various city gates in Agra and arranged a team to guard them. All princes and ministers who escaped from Agra must keep their money, otherwise they will be executed on the spot.

In addition to the small troops guarding the city gate, Qin Zuoming led the main troops to loot the residences of princes and ministers in the city. Their magnificent luxury mansions contained a large amount of gold, silver and treasures.

The Bengal cavalry led by Qasim was jealous of the East India Company's looting of the Mughal Imperial City outside the city. The Bengal cavalry under his command were even more jealous.

This is the imperial city of the Mughal Empire. A large amount of wealth from all over the country has been accumulated here, and every prince and minister here is rich! If you can plunder the wealth in the city, it is hard to imagine how many millions of rupees of gold, silver and jewelry you can get!

The Bangladesh cavalry plundered a lot of spoils in the battle, but this spoil was a drop in the bucket compared to the accumulated wealth in Agra City and was not worth mentioning.

Of course, Qasim also wanted to participate in the looting of the imperial city.

However, he took the initiative to apply to the East India Company to annex the land of Bihar from the Mughal Empire, and promised not to participate in the division of Agra, and all Agra's property belonged to the East India Company.

"His Majesty the King, why can the Chinese enter the city to plunder wealth, and we can only clean the battlefield outside the city to obtain some leftovers of vegetables?"

The Bengal cavalry, who were still searching for gold, silver and jewelry on the battlefield, complained to their king, Qasim.

Almost everyone knows that there are a large number of wealth in Agra City that princes have not had time to transport away, and even the treasury of the Mughal Empire is in the city! That is the real mountain of gold and silver!

"I will obtain land with a population of millions of people in Bihar after this expedition, and I will collect a large amount of land rent every year. I will give you half of these lands, my most loyal servants! Do you want one-time trophy or land that your descendants can rely on for their lives?" said Kasim.

In order to achieve domination and control of this elite cavalry unit, Qasim was determined to give away half of the land he would receive in Bihar to his generals.

When the Bengal cavalry heard that their king intended to distribute half of the newly acquired territory to them, they were grateful and less jealous of the troops of the East India Company could enter the city to rob the princes and ministers.

It is good to obtain a large amount of gold, silver and jewelry at one time from Agra, but they value land more. If they own land, they can obtain stable land rent income from the land every year.

"Execute all these wealth-guarding slaves." Qin Zuoming led his soldiers to search the residences of Mughal officials from house to house, and found a lot of gold, silver and jewelry from their mansions.

Some Mughal ministers were desperately trying to protect their property. What awaited them was the muskets that held their chests, either handing over the property or being dead!

Boxes of gold, silver and jewelry were transported out of the residence of the Mughal ministers and shipped to a carriage.

Regardless of the main purpose of this expedition was to split the Mughal Empire, which might pose a threat in the future, the gold, silver and jewelry they obtained now could make up for the cost of sending troops and make profits.

The real wealth is not in the homes of these Mughal ministers, but in the city of Agra Red Fort - the residence of the Mughal emperor!

Emperor Mughal was the largest landlord and richest man in the South Asian subcontinent. His Red Fort accumulated the most treasures!

The outer periphery of this huge castle is surrounded by red sand and gravel walls twelve meters high, and is generally semicircular, with the highest wall twenty meters high.

Qin Zuoming looked from his location and under the sunlight, the Red Fort emitted a dazzling red color.

Many servants in the palace took advantage of the chaos to try to secretly bring out the treasures in the palace. They were blocked by Qin Zuoming's troops, and these treasures naturally became their spoils.

Qin Zuoming and the others sealed the entrances and exits of the Red Fort, and then he personally brought people into the Red Fort.

There are more than 500 buildings in the Red Fort, and its luxury shocked Qin Zuoming, almost second only to the palace complex in the Forbidden City.

"All the treasures here are now ours." Qin Zuoming couldn't help but reveal a hint of fanaticism.

A large amount of wealth from the Mughal Empire gathered here. This is an astronomical figure. Do you know how much rupees are worth of these gold, silver and treasures together? 10 million? 100 million?

Qin Zuoming couldn't help swallowing when he thought of the incredible treasures in the Red Fort Palace group.

If all such a large amount of wealth was transported back to the local area, his military achievements in the military headquarters would be unimaginable!

Now the Ministry of Revenue, the Ministry of Works, the Ministry of Military Affairs, and the Ministry of War are short of money. This wealth plundered from the Mughal Empire will alleviate local financial tensions. As the commander of this expedition, he may become a general in the future when he returns to the local area.

He is still just an infantry lieutenant colonel in the Army Department, and becoming a general is something that every officer dreams of!

"Carely search all the treasures in the castle and don't damage them easily. Many things are priceless. Maybe many rich people will rush to collect them. If one is damaged, they will lose a lot!" Qin Zuoming ordered when he was plundering the treasures.

The Red Fort is too big. Qin Zuoming expects it will take at least 7 days to rob the treasures inside!

I don’t know if I can find a good thing to offer to the military leader. Qin Zuoming muttered.

He had already told the soldiers in advance that they must report any particularly valuable things, and they might be able to submit them to Chu Yun.

The 12th Legion directly sent the Queen of Aceh. When he fought in the Mughal Empire, he should also need one or two special treasures to show his achievements to the capital.

"Sir, we found a good thing!"

Soon a soldier searching for treasures reported to Qin Zuoming.

"What treasure?"

"The throne of the Mughal Emperor - the throne of the peacock!"
