Chapter 1510 decisive battle

The final decisive battle between the Kings and the Parliamentary Army was held in a small highland 1.5 miles from NAB. The Parliamentary Army continued to take the initiative to occupy the favorable terrain as always, and provoked the Kings and attacked them with the advantageous terrain.

In order to induce the King's Army to fight quickly, Cromwell's troops took the initiative to retreat slightly from the top of the highlands to create an illusion of the parliamentary army's escape at the battle.

This method of seducing enemies has its benefits, but it also has certain dangers.

"Progress!" This time, the King's Army seemed to be unable to hold back his patience, but instead began to slowly advance towards the high ground while the other party made a retreating trend.

Ten artillery from the east were roaring, and the King's Army and the Parliamentary Army were still posing typical arrays such as the central army as infantry and the left and right wings as mobile cavalry.

The infantry of the King's Army was divided into two lines. At the front were 3,000 Eastern soldiers and 1,000 soldiers trained by Sun Chuanting, and behind were ordinary militias.

The elite on the front line no longer used the farmers holding sickles and steel spears, but were pure musketeers. They lined up in three deep horizontal formations to ensure the firepower of frontal shooting.

Prince Rupert, Wilmot led the cavalry to prepare for the charge.

Sun Chuanting and others commanded the infantry to advance in the drum beats.

The parliamentary army was facing tremendous psychological pressure, and they did not expect that the king's army would be mobilized so easily.

"Everyone follows me!" The Earl of Manchester faced the active attack of the King's Army, and he needed to fight with the King's Army before morale collapsed.

The cavalry on both sides had already begun to trot and charge, and the infantry teams in the middle approached each other.

When the infantrymen on both sides were still 130 meters apart, what made the parliamentary officers and soldiers desperate was that the other party had already stopped and prepared to shoot.

"Impossible! How can such a long distance cause effective damage?" The Earl of Manchester saw that the opponent's infantry actually planned to perform the first round of volleys at a distance of 130 meters, which was simply incredible.

"Are the machine gunner in place? Report and prepare to shoot!" The messenger quickly passed the message in the team.

The front row musketeers had half-squatted down, and the three rows of musketeers held the most advanced Dresse rifle in their hands.

Two machine gun groups pushed the machine gun into the gap between the infantry line. The range of this machine gun is actually farther than that of the rifle, and is enough to be an infantry nightmare at a distance of 130 meters.

"Shoot!" The officer pulled out the command knife from his waist and pointed it straight ahead.

Three rows of musketeers pulled the trigger almost at the same time, and dense bullets pressed over like a wall. Many English militias on the opposite side were shot and fell to the ground.

Dada! Two machine guns that played a big role in the expedition to Egypt were also brought. This more lethal weapon brought a large number of casualties to the parliamentary army!

Metal shells kept jumping out and landing, and the sound of this metal made the scalp numb.

"Recharge and move forward!"

The King's Army's front continued to move forward after the first round of volleys.

The parliament fell dozens of people under the first round of volleys, which made many English militias shake the hearts of the army.

Even many noble officers of the parliamentary army were shocked by the firepower of the other party and their confidence was lost.

The distance between the two sides was closer. When the distance was only 70 meters, the King's army fired again, and more people fell from the parliamentary army.

Panic began to spread among the parliamentary forces. The English militia could not bear the pressure brought by the other party. They rushed and panickedly started their first round of volleys despite the officer's orders.

However, the gap between muskets exists, and the volleys of the parliamentary army at a distance of 70 meters did not seem to be much power.

The machine gun was pushed further ahead, and more and more standing English militias were fired and fell to the ground!

The fierce battle lasted for half an hour. This time, it was not that the parliamentary cavalry on both wings were defeated first, but that the central army composed of a large number of infantry could not withstand the firepower shooting of the Eastern Legion and the Royal Guards. The loading speed on the opposite side was much happier than that of the English militia using a melee gun. The continuous firepower shooting round after round made the English militia no longer able to withstand, and they fled backwards without obeying the officer's orders.

The two machine gun groups used up the bullets they brought not long after the battle started, and they could only remove the muskets and join the horizontal line.

Although machine guns are a good thing, they consume too much bullets. When they are intense, they can fire 200-400 bullets in one minute.

The Portsmouth garrison carried a limited number of metal bullets. As early as the expedition to Egypt and the dealing with pirates, most of the bullets were used, and they had never received supplies from the local area. When they participated in the British Civil War, the two machine guns had a combined bullets of less than 5,000 rounds. When all the metal bullets were used up, the machine gun was equivalent to scrap iron.

Even so, the strafing of 5,000 bullets has already made the opponent's English militia frightened! The musketeers on the three-row line line here are the main force. Every time they load, the volley is thousands of bullets falling on the opposite front like a meteor shower!

At the beginning, after two rounds of volleys at a distance of 130 meters and 70 meters, even the most strict officers could not continue to command the front line to carry out unified volleys. Instead, they turned into free shooting. The soldiers loaded bullets mechanically, then looked for targets to shoot, and then repeated the mechanical actions of pulling the bolt and loading the bullets again.

When the English militia in the front row of the parliamentary army fled backwards, their escape caused panic among the militia behind them. Before they even started fighting hand-to-hand, they retreated step by step under the opponent's firepower!

"Progress!" The commander on the front line saw signs of retreating from the parliamentary army, allowing the front line to continue to approach the parliamentary army.

The distance between the two sides was getting closer and closer. When Sun Chuanting saw that the horizontal formation on the opposite side was already in chaos, the retreating parliamentary army was obviously panicked.

This is a good time to seize the opportunity to decide the outcome in one fell swoop!

With a clang, Sun Chuanting drew out his sword: "All army advance!"

The King's Army's horizontal formation accelerated, and after the opponent began to collapse, he directly used a bayonet formation to defeat the central army of the parliamentary army!

Cromwell, Fairfax, and others, who were still on the left and right wings, had made temporary profits based on their advantage in the terrain and gained the upper hand in the battle with Prince Rupert and Wilmot, but when they found that the musketeers and spearmen who were the mainstay were defeated by the opponent's crossfire and bayonet charge, they began to panic.

The outcome of a war often depends on who can make a breakthrough in the battle first. The so-called defeat is not a war game that will last. Once there are signs of collapse, the cracks will open like a spider web!

The first time the Parliamentary Army's central infantry defeated so quickly since the Battle of Mount Edge and the Battle of Marston Wasteland!
