Chapter 20 Narrative
Professor Charles stood behind his back. He didn't want to stay here for a moment. He used his superpowers, and his heart like waves trembled and attacked Magneto and Li Ang.
However, before Professor X's mental detection took effect, Li Ang and Magneto had already rotated the magnetic field, and the majestic and powerful magnetic field enveloped the two of them, blocking the stormy spiritual waves.
"Don't be impatient, Professor Charles, I don't want to face the X-Men," Li Ang reached out and patted Charles on the shoulder and said calmly: "You made a request first and negotiated with us, so now you'd better calm down and listen patiently to me finish my words."
The X-Men who came from behind saw Charles being held hostage and was about to rescue him, but when they heard the sound, the mutant fraternity people who arrived stopped him.
Kuaiyin in the cleaner's uniform, Scarlet Witch holding a bucket, and Fire Man in latex gloves, although these past opponents looked a little funny, their superpowers were not fake.
The scene was a bit stalemate for a while, and Professor Charles's face was gloomy. Even though he was generous and gentle, he took a lot of effort to suppress his anger and said coldly: "You talk, I'm listening."
"Very good." Li Ang nodded and began a peaceful narrative.
"A few days ago, I was invited by Magneto to the Brotherhood's base in the city. There he told me that he wanted me to develop a hydroponic meat that can stimulate the invisible genes of ordinary people, with the purpose of expanding the mutant population."
Charles' heart moved, his face was silent, but he silently recorded this matter in his heart.
Leon ignored the X-Men with different expressions and continued on his own: "But during the research, I accidentally discovered the mysterious characteristics of the mutant gene."
"It is well known that up to 8% of the sequences in the human genome are derived from retroviruses.
In most cases, these retroviral sequences are non-coding sequences, but at some point, it will actually encode proteins.”
Professor Charles nodded. As a member of the mutant, he once devoted a lot of his time and energy to the genetic field, and was naturally familiar with this kind of problem.
The so-called retrovirus refers to a type of virus that first converts RNA into cDNA under the action of reverse transcriptase, and then replicates, transcribes and translates into amplified under the action of protease.
In short, a retrovirus is a foreign body that is parasitic in a gene sequence.
Li Ang said with jokingly: "There are 99% non-coding sequences in the human genome. It doesn't matter if the results of one or two retroviruses occasionally appear, and it will even be beneficial to humans at some point."
He pushed Professor Charles' wheelchair and walked in the central passage of the laboratory. He picked up an experimental report and handed it to the old man to read.
"In 2010, Nature Genetics published an article in the journal Nature Genetics, which tells the story of the expression of three embryonic stem cell regulatory proteins, OCT4, NANOG and CTCF, which will change under the influence of embedded viruses. Tracing the root cause, the syncytial protein required by the subclass of the real beast was originally a viral protein. In other words, the world's first placenta was brought by the virus."
On the other side of the report handed over by Li Ang, there was a strange simple drawing printed on it. The picture was probably a curled baby lying among the seeds of the plant.
Professor Charles knew that this painting was a manuscript by Leonardo da Vinci, an all-out man of the Renaissance, which tells his magnificent imagination of the origin of mankind.
"Virus and cells have been in love and killing each other for hundreds of millions of years, to a certain extent, is a major reason for the prosperous life on Earth today.
But then I think, if the virus we think is not an ignorant protein, but has something of existence, for example..."
Li Ang stopped and spit out a cold word from the gap of his lips: "Weapon."
For no reason, Professor Charles felt that the temperature around him dropped a little, and he turned his eyes to Magneto behind him. However, the confidant and friend who had been with him for many years was just solemn and didn't say a word.
"Virus is a weapon, and it is also a way of regulation."
Li Ang whispered: "After comparing the genetic diagram of ancient humans, I found that humans had undergone a huge change about a million years ago."
He handed another report to Professor Charles, which printed the genetic comparison between ancient humans and modern humans.
Professor Charles couldn't understand the cumbersome genetic data of those heavenly books. Fortunately, after turning a page, it was printed with a more simple and easy-to-understand comparison illustration.
On the DNA double helix like the tower of Babel, hundreds of ATGC chains were drawn in red circles, marking the differences.
"Whether it is the ancient humans in Africa, Europe, and North and South America, their genetic sequences were embedded in a row of virus copies a million years ago."
Li Ang's smile became more and more strange. It was more of an interesting smile than a mockery.
"This copy is in a region closely related to gene expression regulation and will be activated after being affected by external and internal factors."
Professor Charles guessed something, and his teeth began to tremble uncontrollably.
However, Li Ang made a comment indifferently as if he had not seen the old man's struggle: "And this kind of activation is actually the awakening of the mutant."
Professor Charles glared wide, unable to pick up his reserve and gentleness, and roared violently: "Impossible!"
Li Ang stretched out his hands, pressed them on his shoulder, stuffed the old man back into his wheelchair, and said calmly: "The variant genes appear in humans all over the world overnight.
On one night that million years ago, countless ancient humans raised their heads, looked at the vast galaxy, stretched their arms, and released their superpowers.
Tell me, what did you think of?"
Professor Charles seemed to be trying to bite his teeth, staring at the form on his knees with his hatred eyes, without saying a word.
Li Ang said gently: "The ignorant virus is absolutely impossible to do this level. There is only one force that can sow the seeds of superpowers to humans all over the world in a very short period of time - God."
"God, or super civilization, visited the earth millions of years ago, used viruses as a regulatory means to embed human genetic sequences, tampered with human genetic sequences in a rough and harsh way, distorted the path of human evolution, and created mutants."
"In other words, mutants are not the choice of natural evolution, they are never noble, nor are they the result of natural evolution of human beings."
"You are products that have trademarked labels inserted into gene sequences, and are low-key laboratory creations."
"You are man-made."
