Chapter 9 Blow up and burn up, never leave it to the little devil

On the eve of the war that the Japanese Kwantung Army was about to launch, Zhang Cheng, the Consul General of the Tang Dynasty in China, called Zhang Xueliang in Peking, and followed Zhang Meng's special instructions and kindly reminded Zhang Xueliang to pay attention to strengthening the defense work of Northeast China against Japan. The Japanese Kwantung Army is very likely to suddenly launch a military operation against Fengtian in recent days.

If Zhang Xueliang had ignored the so-called "Tang Empire" a month ago, a place the size of sesame and green beans, let alone he would not take it seriously, even a mayor Fengtian would not take the Tang Empire seriously.

But such a small country as big as a sesame and mung beans was able to completely wipe out the fleet of Ono Shisan Dian, which made many people like Zhang Xueliang who looked down on the Tang Empire suddenly reflect on what was wrong and also changed their attitude towards the Tang Dynasty.

Therefore, Zhang Xueliang thanked the Tang Dynasty for his concern for him and the Northeast Army. He claimed that although the Japanese army's provocation against the Northeast Army has been escalating and intensifying recently, Japan is going to war with the Tang Dynasty. He believed that the focus of the Japanese army was on the direction of the Tang Dynasty. He in turn reminded the Tang Empire to be careful of the Japanese Navy Combined Fleet because their main fleet is about to expedition to the Tang Dynasty.

In fact, as the highest commander of the Northeast Army, how could Zhang Xueliang not know what the Japanese think?

Unfortunately, after ten years of rapid development, the military academies of the Army, Navy and Air Forces trained tens of thousands of talents for the Northeast Army. However, these talents are only suitable for command and combat at the grassroots level. Zhang Xueliang lacks independent generals and senior staff talents. Especially in the Middle East Road incident in 1929, the grassroots combat effectiveness of the Northeast Army is remarkable, but the lack of command minds of senior officers eventually led to a crushing defeat against the Soviet Union and suffered heavy losses. So he knew very well that if he fought with the Japanese who were more powerful (influenced by the Russo-Japanese War), the Northeast Army could not defeat others at all. Therefore, Zhang Xueliang, who was also warlord-minded, had to order the Northeast Army not to resist in order to preserve his strength.

Zhang Meng reminded Zhang Xueliang that he would do his best to be kind and righteous.

Next, Zhang Meng ordered Zhang Cheng to quickly prepare for the task of receiving the defeated troops of the Northeast Army and transfer back to the Blue Fox Special Service from Japan. After assassinating Yuyuki Hamaguchi, the Japanese military had begun to militarize control of the entire Japan, and the effect of the terrorist attack was no longer effective, and if he stayed there, there was a risk of being surrounded and eliminated by the Japanese army.

All special forces under the Blue Fox Special Service Team were transferred to Fengtian to protect the Northeast military talents prepared to go to the Tang Empire and the reserve talents trained by major military academies. On the other hand, more than three-quarters of the industrial bases in the Northeast were concentrated around Fengtian. Their mission was to carry out blow-up tasks before the Japanese army when the Northeast army evacuated, and resolutely not leave them to the Japanese.

Since the Meiji Restoration in Japan, Japan has been adhering to the principle of military priority and has trained a large number of professional soldiers. After the Washington Conference in 1921, Japan began to disarmament on a large scale. By 1930, Japan's military expenditure had been cut to less than 430 million yen, and the severance was reduced by more than 50%.

The large-scale disarmament aroused strong dissatisfaction within the Japanese army. Dissatisfied soldiers began to gather secretly. Tojo Hideki, Okamura Yasuji, Ishihara Kanir, etc., secretly organized the Tianjian Party, Sakura Society, and One-Sun Club, among them.

When the world economic crisis affected Japan and put Japan in an extremely difficult situation, launching a war against China to divert the attention of the people at home and ease class contradictions became the solution for the Japanese military.

However, the Japanese military faced a huge obstacle. The Japanese cabinet headed by Yuyuki Hamaguchi firmly opposed the premature invasion of China, and believed that once it invaded China, it would fall into a protracted quagmire of war, which would waste Japan's national strength and make it unable to cope with the threat from the Soviet Union and the United States.

So Yuyuki Hamaguchi became an obstacle that the Japanese military was eager to clear.

As early as the day when the Kwantung Army killed Zhang Zuolin in 1928, the Japanese Army had already been on the verge of the string to prepare for a showdown with the Northeast Army. Unfortunately, it was stopped by Hamaguchi Yuki. Hamaguchi Yuki was killed by the first assassination of the Japanese military, but he survived by chance.

Yuyuki Hamaguchi should have been assassinated by the Japanese military again on August 26, and then the Japanese Kwantung Army dared to take advantage of the chaos in Japan to launch the September 18th Incident. However, Zhang Meng's appearance made Yuyuki Hamaguchi's death half a month ahead of the death, which indirectly led to the September 18th Incident being more than a month ahead of the September 18th Incident.

On the night of August 15, 1931, the 3rd Company of the 2nd Battalion of the Japanese Kwantung Army, the 3rd Company of the 2nd Battalion of the garrison, left the former garrison of Hushitai Barracks and marched south along the South Manchurian Railway. At around 22:20 pm, a small team led by Lieutenant Kawamamoto, the captain of the Liutou Lake detachment of the Japanese Kwantung Army Railway, led by Lieutenant Kawamamoto, was in the name of patrolling the railway. On the Liutou Hunan Manchurian Railway section about 7.5 kilometers north of Fengtian, about 800 meters from Beidaying, the Northeast Army's garrison was detonated, and a small section of the railway was destroyed. Three Chinese bodies in the costumes of Northeast Army soldiers were placed on the scene as evidence of the Northeast Army's destruction of the railway, falsely claimed that the Chinese army destroyed the railway and attacked the Japanese garrison.

The captain of Kawashima, who was about four kilometers north of the railway blasting point, immediately led his troops south and began to attack Beidaying. The Japanese troops stationed in Shenyang City divided into two routes, north and south, and attacked Beidaying, the Chinese army stationed in the north and south.

That night, the Lieutenant General Chief of Staff of the Northeast Frontier Defense Forces Commander-General Rong Zhen, based on Zhang Xueliang's order, once again emphasized that the Northeast Army's units "are not allowed to resist or move, put the guns in the warehouse, stand up and die, and everyone will be virtuous and sacrifice for the country."

The local authorities in the Northeast, led by Zhang Xueliang, adopted a non-resistance policy towards the Japanese attack after the incident. Therefore, that night, the 7th Brigade of the Northeast Army stationed in Beidaying was unprepared and caught off guard. Zhang Xueliang had ordered the Northeast Army not to resist before, and the garrison troops did not make a fierce counterattack. Two of the three regiments of the 7th Brigade retreated as instructed, and only Wang Tiehan's 620th Regiment did not receive the order to retreat in time and was forced to defend himself.

Fengtian's police forces took on an important role in resisting the Japanese invasion. Together with many patriotic soldiers who were unwilling to retreat, they repelled wave after wave of attacks by the Japanese army, forcing the Japanese army to mobilize the Second Division of the Kwantung Army from Liaoyang in the early morning to come for reinforcements.

It is precisely because these patriotic police and soldiers fought back that many aspiring people in Northeast China who were unwilling to become slaves of the country were able to hurriedly leave Fengtian and evacuate into the pass with their families.

At the same time, the Blue Fox Special Service Team was given plenty of time to blow up key military reserve facilities such as the Fengtian Arsenal, steel plant, etc. of the Northeast Army, such as heavy industrial factories, granaries, armories, ammunition depots, etc., without leaving a single shot or ammunition to the Japanese.

The Longyan Commando even entered the Fengtian Northeast Army General Command before the Japanese army, and took away most of the military deployment information from the three northeastern provinces. The rest of the remaining ones could not be taken away were burned out, which greatly delayed the time when the Japanese army controlled the entire three northeastern provinces.

What Zhang Meng was most concerned about was the Northeast Army’s air force base in Dongta. For this reason, Zhang Cheng personally led the guards of the Tang Dynasty’s Consulate in Fengtian to Dongta Airport.

That night, the sudden attack of the Japanese army immediately aroused the anger of the Northeast Air Force. More than 300 elite pilots of the Northeast Air Force, including Zhao Wenyi, Gao Zhihang, Wan Xianzhang, etc., rushed to Dongta Airport overnight, demanding that fighters and bombers be taken off immediately to fight against Japan.

Chen Haihua, the general flight instructor of Dongta Air Force Base, immediately asked Zhang Xueliang for instructions, but the reply he received was that he was not allowed to resist and all the staff were disbanded.

This immediately aroused the strong anger of all the air force pilots and ground crews at the base. Just as they were about to disobey the order and forcefully take off the fighter plane, Zhang Tao, the military police command, who had already surrendered to the enemy, rushed into the base with more than 30 gun-army soldiers. He had originally arrested everyone, but Chen Haihua was all Northeast comrades to persuade him to let them go. Zhang Tao did not want to kill his own people, so he agreed to let all the pilots and ground crews go, but they were not allowed to take anything from the base.

At this moment, a cold gun rang out and Zhang Tao was shot dead.

Zhang Cheng led the guards to rush into the Dongta Air Base and quickly subdued Zhang Tao's subordinates.

"Heroes, I know you all want to kill the Japanese and defend their country immediately. I don't stop you. I just want to tell you that all the Northeast army will retreat and the Japanese army will arrive here at dawn. You can't defend here."

"Even if we can't keep here, we will die with Japan. Do you think so?"

"That's right! What's the point of living without a family? Just have a hard fight with the Japanese, kill one enough to make a profit of two!"

Looking at these young people who are generally around 20 years old, Zhang Cheng admires their blood, but does not support their reckless actions.

"I said you are so stupid! Why? How can you exchange your precious lives with the Japanese devils? They are all beasts, and their lives are not as good as yours. If you fight with them, you will lose your life."

Zhang Cheng's words made everyone laugh, but soon they stopped smiling because they heard the sound of cannons coming closer.

"Instructor Chen, I know you understand what I mean."

Chen Haihua had already made an agreement with Zhang Cheng that if one day Zhang Xueliang really gave up on the Northeast, then Chen Haihua would cut off Zhang Xueliang's robe and be willing to join the Tang Empire.

Chen Haihua thought that it was impossible, but now he had just finished the phone call with Zhang Xueliang, and he was really disappointed with Zhang Xueliang.

Therefore, Chen Haihua publicly praised the Tang Empire's determination to resist Japan and called on everyone to serve the Tang Empire. In the future, the Tang Empire will definitely help them fight back to their hometown in Northeast China to drive away the Japanese.

"After all, we are the Northeast Army. Although Young Marshal Zhang said he would not resist and let us retreat, I think Young Marshal will take us back in the future."

Many people were still hesitating, and Zhang Meng had guessed this a long time ago, so he told Zhang Cheng how to answer them in advance.

"I can guarantee you! Within five years, if your Shaoshou Zhang wants to fight back to the Northeast, then our Tang Empire will not only allow you to return to the Northeast Army, but also give you ten times the compensation? As long as the Shaoshou Zhang wants to fight back to the Northeast, you can come back immediately. Our Tang Dynasty will never stop you. Don't worry now."

"Why do we have to go to your Tang Empire?"

"That's a good question!" Zhang Cheng explained: "First of all, the people in our Tang Empire were all Chinese, and there were quite a few people in the Northeast, so we have the same clan and origin. Secondly, the treatment of our Tang Air Force is more than ten times higher than that of your Northeast Army. After you go, you will be treated the same as our Air Force, and you will also be given a house and a car. Thirdly, you should know that a month ago, our Tang Empire destroyed a powerful Japanese naval fleet. I can tell you that it was our Air Force. So, after you arrive in our Tang Dynasty, what you are waiting for is generous treatment, flying the most advanced plane in the world, and the most important thing is that Tang Ri is going to fight. You can kill the Japanese as much as you can. We will not resist like your young marshal!"

In the last sentence, Zhang Cheng's words directly hit everyone's most painful point like a knife.

"Go with you!"
