Chapter 48 Parting

This time, my photography experience also left the only photo in my master's life.

When I left the basement, I heard the quarrel between Master and Grandpa Li coming from behind. I remember that Master seemed to want to steal Grandpa Li's camera at that time, but Grandpa Li looked like a dead pig that was not afraid of boiling water. Anyway, I have taken photos, and I just won't give it to you if you say anything.

It was not until I was about to graduate from junior high school that Grandpa Li mailed me the photos of his master. He learned about some rules of the Jihun Village. This photo was taken for me, in order to leave me a memory after my master's hundred years.

In the next two days, Grandpa Li and Liang Houzai lived in the hotel. Grandpa Li said that he came this time to temporarily entrust Liang Houzai to my master. He said that he was going to a very far place, and it was inconvenient to bring his apprentice. He also said that he would come back in a while.

When Grandpa Li said these words, he always spoke with a joking tone. I heard my master later say that Grandpa Li ran away this time to escape his enemies. My master gave him all the money he asked Senior Brother Zhuang to withdraw. His departure took as short as ten years to decades. Master also told me that during the period when Grandpa Li took refuge, I would treat Liang Houzai as much as my relatives.

As for Liang Houzai, he knew his master's character well. He hadn't spoken much for two days and had eaten very little. Grandpa Li never asked about this.

On the 23rd day of the twelfth lunar month in 1997, it was an unforgettable day for Liang Houzai. This day was the day when he and Grandpa Li separated.

I still clearly remember the scene at that time. That morning, before dawn broke out, Grandpa Li packed up his greetings and sent it to the bus station by my senior brother Zhuang. My master and I went to the station, and Liang Houzai followed.

Along the way, Grandpa Li and my master were talking and laughing, and the two agreed to have a New Year's Eve dinner together next year. It seemed that Grandpa Li would really come back in a year, but Liang Houzai didn't say anything.

When Grandpa Li walked towards the bus station with a bow on his back, Liang Houzai followed him silently, without saying a word, and just followed him silently.

He followed Grandpa Li through the crowd and came to the platform of the bus station. The earliest bus had arrived. Just when Grandpa Li got on the bus, Liang Houzai also grabbed the handle on the car door and wanted to follow.

Grandpa Li turned his head, pulled Liang Houzai's hand away, pushed him out of the car door, and said to Liang Houzai with a joke, "What are you doing? I'll be back soon. During this period, you will be at ease with your Grandpa Chai. Hey, this old guy is rich. If you want, let him buy it for you, haha."

After saying this, Grandpa Li didn't care about Liang Houzai anymore and got into the car without turning his head.

Liang Houzai looked at the car door without saying a word until around 6:30, when the car was about to leave, the car door slowly closed. At this time, Liang Houzai suddenly went crazy and squeezed into the car along the gap in the car door.

This scared the driver in the car and quickly opened the door for him, but Grandpa Li suddenly appeared in front of the car door, slapped Liang Houzai hard in the face, pointed at the place where my master and I were standing, and shouted at Liang Houzai: "Get out!"

My master and I hurried over and saw Liang Houzai looking at Grandpa Li with grievance, tears bursting out, and large swells of water came out.

The bus finally drove away. Liang Houzai squatted on the platform and cried loudly in his voice. I didn't know how to persuade him, but just stood beside him with his hands and feet tightly.

My master patted Liang Houzai's back and watched the bus gradually get farther and farther away.

When the bus was about to drive out of the bus station, I saw Grandpa Li rolling down the window and seemed to want to call my master, but he opened his mouth but couldn't say a word. Finally, he stretched out his hand and hugged my master and clasped his fists.

My master nodded to him and said softly: "Don't worry, go."

Grandpa Li may not be able to hear my master's words, but I think he will definitely know his master's intentions.

After Grandpa Li left, Liang Houzai felt like he was in a state of dismay. When my master carried him on his back, his eyes were dull.

After returning to the hotel, my master told me that Liang Houzai had no parents, and that his master raised him.

For him, his master is his biological parents.

After Grandpa Li left, we stayed in the local area for two more days. In those two days, Master and Senior Brother Zhuang rarely stayed in the hotel, and Master Xia and the others did not show up again.

Before the Chinese New Year, my master took Liang Houzai and me back to Shandong, and Senior Brother Feng set off a day earlier than us. My master said that Senior Brother Feng’s wife seemed to be about to give birth.

During the Spring Festival this year, my uncle also came to our house for the New Year. My master cooked a lot of good dishes. But Liang Houzai never seemed to have recovered from that parting. Even during the New Year, he rarely spoke.

On the ninth day of the first lunar month, Senior Brother Feng's son arrived in the delivery room of the county hospital. The master took Liang Houzai and me to celebrate Senior Brother Feng. Once I met Senior Brother Feng's wife, she was a woman with very beautiful eyes. When we arrived at the hospital, there was a hint of exhaustion in her face and she was asleep.

My senior brother Feng held the baby in his arms and kept giggling at us.

When I came out of the hospital, my master told me that my sister-in-law's parents were both teachers, and she was born in a scholarly family with a strong ink smell. Because of the nature of Senior Brother Feng's work, my sister-in-law has suffered a lot over the years, and even encountered criminals who came to seek revenge. But she never complained. She had been married to my Senior Brother Feng for ten years before she had her first child.

After talking about my sister-in-law, the master suddenly looked at me with a smirk and said, "Your Senior Brother Feng is a lucky person. In the future, you have to find someone like this."

Master said this inexplicably.

On the fifteenth day of the first lunar month, my master took me to the playground of Nanshijiao to worship the river god of Yaoyingzi River.

The Spring Festival in 1998 passed in the blink of an eye. After the fifteenth day of the first lunar month, school started soon. Senior Brother Feng asked someone to complete the admission procedures for Liang Houzai. Liang Houzai seemed to be younger than me, but he was the same age as me and was in the fourth grade, but he and I were not in the same class.

After winter, there is another round of four seasons, and life is still going on day by day.

At that time, in addition to practicing martial arts with my master, I was also worried about the endless homework every day like children of the same age. Fortunately, I now have two more partners. Whether I practice martial arts or do homework, Liang Houzai is with me, and Xian'er will come out from time to time and chat with me for a while.

Since the last time I stole money and was beaten by my master, Xian'er has become much more restrained and has never encouraged me to do bad things. I have gradually become accustomed to her existence. Sometimes, she will tell me some weird stories in the old forest in Northeast China. Although it is not as vivid as my master, I still like to listen to it very much.

My deskmate still nagged Liu Shangang all day long. Occasionally, he would come to my house to play when he had less homework on weekends. However, every time Liu Shangang came to me, Liang Houzai would hide in the house and not come out. He didn't like to deal with strangers and had no friends at school.

Before I went to junior high school, there was not much intersection between Liu Shangang and Liang Houzai.

From the beginning of 1998 to the middle of the year, nothing happened that made me remember deeply. I only remember one day my dad lost his wallet. Senior Brother Zhuang said before that our family would lose money this year. I thought my dad lost his wallet. Even if the money was broken, my dad didn't have much money in his wallet anyway.

But I only remember what Senior Brother Zhuang said, but I forgot the solemn expression on my master's face when he said this.

In the afternoon of mid-June, my dad secretly took the passbook at home and lost all the little savings left in the family that night.

It was only then that I realized that since May of that year, my dad got hooked on gambling!

I really don’t want to think about this experience again. During those days, my father and my mother, who had always been together, started to quarrel loudly every night. Sometimes, my father would not go home all night, and my mother would cry in the yard.

During that time, there were often some sluts in our family. Every time they came, they would take IOUs one by one, saying that it was a debt my dad owed outside.

I know why my dad went to bet. He has not made money over the years and was anxious. He just wanted to get rich overnight by gambling. But since he became obsessed with gambling, he kept losing money and owing debts. When I was a child, I didn’t understand it until I grew up and thought about it carefully that those sluts are creditors who are high-profit and loans.

My master saw this, but he never helped my father. It was only when someone came to ask for debts that my master would stay at our house for fear that something would happen to us.

The master said that this is a sin caused by my father. When will his father repent and when will he take action?

At that time, our family sold almost all the things that could be sold, including TV, furniture, and even the dowry brought by my mother, but it still couldn't block my dad's hole.

I originally didn't plan to write down some words, but given this experience, I must say one more thing: gambling is really a bottomless pit. Once you get stuck, it will be difficult to climb out again. I advise everyone not to be curious about gambling, and not to think about using this method to turn over overnight and cannot be turned over.

In fact, our family is pretty good. After all, my dad’s addiction to gambling was not his nature. On the last night of September, my dad, who had disappeared for a whole month, suddenly returned home and saw the dilapidated scene at home, squatting alone at the door of the house and crying.

This financial crisis came quickly and went quickly.
