Chapter 104 Duke Desai's New Secretary (...

After confirming that he could not board the "Seeker" merchant ship, Litisia could only turn around and walk back with her suitcase. What's even more unlucky is that the carriage she was riding in when she came was rented first by other passengers who refunded the ticket, which means that Litisia had to carry her bulky suitcase and walk at least three kilometers to return to the bustling city where the carriage was traveling.

But this was obviously not a good idea. Litisia decided to check around to see if there was another carriage coming. When she passed by the merchant ship's cable post, she accidentally found an acquaintance, Kasapa, the secretary of the Interior Official who had met in the Hruna Chamber of Commerce.

Anthony, the poor Italian, was squatting there, looking sad.

"Hello, Mr. Anthony. My name is Litisia, and my uncle is Sanlug, a member of the parliament of Barcelona." As part of the noble etiquette, Litisia took two steps forward and greeted him in Italian. Since leaving Madrid, she has used Litisia as her name, and has not given the noble surname "Deulkiho".

"Hello, Miss Litisia!" Anthony turned around, looked at it, and recognized the noble lady who greeted her. In front of the steps of the Hruna Chamber of Commerce, Anthony saw Sanluge and Litisia leaving in the same car, who also called the councillor uncle.

"Mr. Anthony, do you need my help?" The kind Litisia saw that the Italians were in a bad mood because on the dock, the dangerous behavior of sitting on the cable posts, usually only alcoholics and suicides, and Mr. Anthony obviously did not drink.

The Italian was stunned at first, then smiled bitterly, knowing that he had been misunderstood by the kind lady. His actions just now were just pondering a question, why did the people of the Hruna Chamber of Commerce fail to bring the three candidates for secretary. The only answer was that the guys like the Military Intelligence Bureau were making ghosts from it. In order not to be rude, Anthony chose to stand up and leave the cable post.

"You are going to Marseille too?" Anthony asked back.

"Yes, but an officer told me that the seeker number had been requisitioned by them, so..." Litisia nodded.

"I'm so sorry, Miss Litisia. This is indeed an order from the military, and I can do nothing, but you can take my carriage and return to the city together later." Anthony saw the big suitcase next to Litisia and replied with a thank you.

"Thank you so much!"

"You are so kind. If the order for the requisition was not from Grand Duke Hruna, I would have helped you get a seat."

"Grand Duke Hruna? Andrew Desai!" Litisia felt her heart moving, feeling that fate was so true. She asked, "So, Grand Duke Hruna is also on the searcher number?"

"Yes." Anthony had no need to deny. Miss Litisia's uncle, Sanluge, belonged to the powerful Catalan aristocrats whom Grand Duke Hruna tried hard to win over.

Litisia happily slapped her hands without the reserve of a noble lady. "So, kind-hearted Mr. Anthony! Can you help me with love and let the gatekeeper allow me to board the ship too?"

Anthony is no longer surprised by the girl's unexciting expression of happiness. The boss of his boss is not only young and rich, handsome, but also has a high position and a prominent identity. In any aspect, the Duke of Desai is the object that the noble ladies hope to meet by chance. Even though they know that Grand Duke Hruna is engaged, many powerful nobles in Catalonia still hope that their women, whether married or unmarried, can have some connection with the Duke of Desai. That was the latter's suggestion that Grand Duke Hruna's heirs will definitely have Catalan blood.

Although Anthony was unwilling to pour cold water on the kind Miss Litisia, he shook his head and said, "I'm so sorry, Miss Litisia. I am just a second-class attendant of the interim cabinet minister. The task is to choose a full-time secretary for Grand Duke Hruna. But now, because the task cannot be completed, it is a question whether my work can be saved."

"Full-time secretary?" Litisia murmured. Then, she threw away the suitcase, shouted and rushed to the Italians, pointed her beautiful face backwards, and said frankly, "I can choose me!"

"You?" Anthony asked in confusion.

"Yes, yes!" Litisia nodded excitedly. When the opportunity falls from the sky, she must not give up.

"But you are a lady?"

"Did Duke Hruna ask for the secretary's gender?"

"It seems that there isn't, but generally speaking..."

"That's it."

...

"The work is very hard and you need to follow the Duke at all times. You may not be able to buy a gorgeous long skirt for your monthly salary."

“None of these are the problems.”

"The Duke's full-time secretary must be proficient in listening, speaking and writing in multiple languages."

"Haha, I can learn French, Spanish, Catalan, Italian, and of course, Polish."

"The duke or general, the entourage you need must be able to go to the battlefield without fear of guns and death."

"This is even more OK. Litisia can ride horses and fencing, use pistols, and has killed several bad guys and robbers!"

"You are really sure, it's not a decision that gets hot for a moment?"

"Of course, Mr. Anthony, my uncle and I, Councillor Sanluge, and the whole family, will be grateful to you!"

It is undeniable that it was Litisia's last sentence and the last straw that ultimately moved Anthony. As a bankrupt businessman in Italy, he wanted to make a name for himself in the Dominion of Hruna. It was obviously not enough to rely solely on Anthony's own strength, hard work and loyalty, as well as the appreciation of the internal officials.

Since the establishment of the Dominion of Hruna, under the insistence of Desai and Sai, it has always pursued the theory of political tolerance, national compatibility and religious inclusiveness of the country, which has attracted a large number of talents from various Mediterranean countries, including unsuccessful scholars, poor technicians, bankrupt bankers and merchants, as well as many down-and-out nobles.

Although Anthony is already the second-class secretary of Professor Say and is highly appreciated, he has too many competitors around him, and everyone is ready to take one or half of the seat in the Hruna Cabinet, which will be established next year. Anthony believes that his identity is too low to attract the attention of the Duke of Desay, but with the strong support of the famous Catalonian family and the secret assistance of the Duke of Kruna, the situation will be very different, and at least it can improve his position in the minds of the Insider of Say.

Moreover, Miss Litisia is also a good candidate for civilian secretary. She has a good aristocratic education and is proficient in many languages. She seems petite and weak, but she can also skillfully fiddle with firearms. I believe Litisia meets the criteria for selecting secretary of the Duke of Desay. The only obstacle is that Litisia is a woman. For a long time, in the unspoken rules of countries in the European continent, aristocratic women can only serve as female officials in the court, not other positions. Unless...

Anthony finally made the decision, first picking up Littisia's big suitcase, then bent down to salute, and made a noble act of inviting.

"Well, you convinced me, the beautiful and brave Miss Littisia, and I hope you will keep your promise tonight in mind. And now, please follow me on the boat and give you a few advice."

...

Those who returned to France with the Duke of Desai, including the staff officer of the Desai Division who had already boarded the ship in advance, Major Simerci (a formerly captured French captain), who was recommended by Colonel Rusty to the Duke of Desai; the military physician Dr. Kava was named by Desai because the French Academy of Sciences had issued invitations to the famous Irish doctor several times; and the Jew Candiola, whose public identity was a senior official of the Trade Department of the Dominant Ghruna; and Captain Penduwas, the head of the Operations Department of the Military Intelligence Bureau, was responsible for commanding the guards of Grand Duke of Khruna and a special operations team lurking in secret.

After a brief conversation with the above people, Desai turned around and returned to his special cabin. The intelligence officer Lieutenant Koror ran over and told the duke about the news that the Italians brought him a secretary, who should be a noble lady.

Desai smiled and thought that Anthony, who was as stupid as a pig, finally got his idea. The purpose of his acquiescent intelligence agency to interfere with the Italians was because Desai was not satisfied with the secretary chosen by the civil servants.

Damn, the so-called candidates for secretary are either strong men of all sizes or polite male aristocrats. How many people do you need to choose from in Barcelona? How many people do you need to do your best to choose from?

What the Duke of Desay really needs is a beautiful female secret who sometimes does things and is pleasing to the eye. Of course, this cannot be made clear, because it violates the taboos of the aristocratic tradition, so that the subordinates can only understand it. Even if there is any problem later, they can be shirked to the relevant responsible person, the Italian "temporary worker" named Anthony.

"Oh, what's her name?" Desai asked casually.

"I just saw them passing the inspection of the guard before boarding the ship. Duke, according to internal security regulations, I must make routine inquiries and investigations for your personal entourage first." Lieutenant Koror reminded the Duke of Desay, whose coloring heart was beginning to spread, forcing the latter to dispel his happy behavior of seeing his new female secret immediately.

After escorting Miss Litisia on board, the Italian Anthony placed the latter in the conference room of the cabin. Then he returned to the dock alone, jumped into the carriage, and prepared to report to the institution officer who left Barcelona tomorrow and returned to the dominion.

Sitting in the small conference room of the cabin, Miss Lietisia looked a little impatient and restless under the dim light. Opposite him, the Polish nobleman who claimed to be the full-time intelligence officer of the Duke of Desay, Lieutenant Koror, despite his strong body and handsome appearance, was a guy who exuded a dangerous aura that made people unconsciously feel afraid and dared not approach. Especially the other party's blue eyes were extremely sharp, and there seemed to be a red flame burning, making people afraid to look at each other.

But over time, Litisia gradually recovered from calmness. She tried to keep herself calm and no longer feared the other party's hostile eyes. Gradually, Litisia no longer dodged. She looked up and looked back, relentlessly, and returned the sharp gaze like a sharp knife.

After staring at the other side for a while, Lieutenant Korol could not see the young girl retreating and surrendering, but instead aroused the latter's stubborn resistance. He felt a little disappointed and gave up his aggressive expression. Because the applicant's life experience, ability and courage were impeccable, the intelligence officer turned to ask: "Ms. Litisia, did you accept this job from the instructor of Councillor Sanluge?"

"No, it's my own decision!"

"Oh, it's admirable. You should know that you are challenging the traditions of aristocrats and not worry about your future life and family blame?"

"Don't worry, you will take on your own choice!"

"Please be careful..."
