Chapter 5021 Cunningham reorganizes the Atlantic Fleet

There are two names for US battleships, one refers to the hull number composed of letters and numbers in the organization; the other means the name of the ship.

The US military's large aircraft carriers are generally equipped with 2 to 3 different flight squadrons, and each squadron will be different due to their combat missions. For example: 'VT represents torpedo attack aircraft squadrons, VB represents dive bomber squadrons, VF represents fighter squadrons, and VC represents a hybrid squadron of various carrier-based aircraft.

However, except for a hybrid flight squadron, the US military's escort aircraft carrier does not have the powerful flight squadrons mentioned just now, and they are equipped for combat use.

Major General Robert Theobord, who was drawn from the Pacific Fleet commanded by General Chester Nimitz, was wiped out when he was fighting with Marshal Hithofen's aircraft carrier fleet, and was furious. For this reason, William Frederick Halsey, nicknamed "Bao Bull", wanted to lead the aircraft carrier fleet immediately to find Marshal Hithofen to calculate the battle.

If the Japanese army in the Pacific had not dragged it down, I'm afraid that this time would have appeared in the navy general in front of Eisenhower.

In addition to the "barbarian bull" Halsey, Rear Admiral Michel actually wanted to go to the Atlantic to decide the victory and defeat with the German Navy.

However, he was also stopped by General Chester Nimitz. There was no way that the Pacific Ocean lacked aircraft carrier fleets to deal with the Japanese army. Now if these two talents were also dispatched to the Atlantic and Mediterranean to deal with the German army, it would be a non-profitable deal for General Chester Nimitz, so he would never agree to let him go.

Although Admiral Chester Nimitz also suffered great pain in the loss of Rear Admiral Robert Theobord, as well as the 8th special mixed fleet led by him, namely two heavy cruisers, three light cruisers, nine destroyers, six submarines, and three cruise ship fleets.

This is not a small number of fleets. Even a backward and weak country cannot establish a fleet of such a size.

For this reason, the aircraft carrier fleet dispatched by the US military to the Atlantic Ocean was still handed over to Hewitt to command and fight with British Cunningham in the future.

When the German submarine group wiped out the British escort transport team code-named ‘OB-300’, Eisenhower had agreed to Cunningham’s suggestion to reorganize an Atlantic fleet to deal with the increasingly powerful aircraft carrier fleet of the German army.

This Atlantic fleet must have at least 16 aircraft carriers, including 8 heavy aircraft carriers, 8 light aircraft carriers, and four fully loaded fighter fleets.

As for battleships, there must be at least 40, and they also have a 16-inch main gun and the latest fire-air system. At least, there must be more aircraft carriers and battleships of the Third Fleet that Halsey is about to own.

Because now the US military has established the Third Fleet, the Seventh Fleet, the First Fleet, the Pacific Fleet, and the 5th Fleet, which is preparing for the Battle of Gilbert.

The 5th Fleet commanded by Lieutenant General Spruenz, there were about 230 ships of various types of ships put into operation against the Japanese army during the Battle of Gilbert, including 11 aircraft carriers, 18 escort aircraft carriers, 13 battleships, 14 cruisers, 58 destroyers, and more than 50 large landing ships. There were about 1,300 combat aircraft, including 920 carrier-based aircraft, and about 100 B-24 "Liberator" heavy bombers among the shore-based aircraft.

Moreover, the 2nd Marine Division and the 27th Army Infantry Division were transferred to the 5th Fleet to land and fight in the Gilbert Islands and attack the Japanese army.

The Seventh Fleet has about 50 to 60 warships and 350 fighter jets. The fleet is full of 60,000 people, including almost 40,000 naval officers and soldiers and more than 20,000 Marines. The total strength is about 20,000. The fleet commander is Lieutenant General Kincaid, who belongs to the Southwest Pacific Front commanded by General MacArthur.

However, the Seventh Fleet is still under rectification, and the above number of fleets has not yet been fully in place.

The Third Fleet merges part of the First Fleet and the Pacific Fleet into the Third Fleet, and its military strength is organized to govern 10 special mixed fleets, namely the 30th (Combat Force), the 31st (Command and Coordinating Force), the 32nd (Patrol Reconnaissance Force), the 333rd (Combat Support Force), the 34th (Submarine Force), the 35th (Surface Operations Force), the 36th (Ambient Force), the 38th (Canadian Sea Force), and the 39th (Landing Force).

During World War II, the Third Fleet was preparing to participate in the Guadalam Battle and land on the anti-Japanese war with Leight Island in the Philippines.

The later US Navy published six fleets in the online information, namely the Third Fleet, the Fourth Fleet, the Fifth Fleet, the Sixth Fleet, the Seventh Fleet, and the Tenth Fleet, all of which were commanded by Lieutenant Generals of the Three Stars, except for the Fourth Fleet, the Two Stars Major Generals.

The other six fleets are divided into mission-groups such as Atlantic Fleet, Pacific Fleet, European Fleet, Central X Central Command (only commanding the Fourth Fleet, which means that the Fourth Fleet has two layers of repeated command) and other tasks; these four mission commanders are all four-star generals.

Therefore, the current US fleet cannot compare and compare with the extremely powerful US Navy in later generations.

However, even so, the US Navy continued to develop and become stronger during World War II, and eventually became the most powerful naval overlord in the world.

Of course, this is the case in the original history, but after Chen Yanlong traveled and reborn, the US Navy could only become one of the largest navy in the world, not the overlord.

After Cunningham had selected the number of aircraft carrier fleets he had requested, he immediately dispatched 10 large battleships, 12 battlecruisers, 18 armored cruisers, 4 aircraft carriers, 45 light cruisers, 70 destroyers, 90 torpedo boats and 250 submarines to prepare to face the aircraft carrier fleet led by Dunitz himself.

"This is the most powerful naval battle we launched in the Mediterranean. This is also our last large-scale naval battle, because almost all our family assets are here, at least all the naval assets in 1943 are concentrated here!"

Eisenhower cried poorly as he watched Cunningham take so many of his aircraft carrier fleet at once.

"It seems that I have just drawn one-third of your fleet! And this time I have also personally come to fight Denitz's aircraft carrier fleet. Just take a look! Commander Eisenhower!"

Looking at Eisenhower's heartache, Cunningham twitched a few times and said unhappy.

There is no way to do this naval battle, but he personally took the initiative to command the battle. He doesn't know what the outcome, what life and death are, now he doesn't know.

But Cunningham knew that if he lost to the Germans in this naval battle, his morale of the Allied forces would definitely fall into an unprecedented trough.

"Sorry! We really can't afford to lose now! So I was too worried just now, so I will wish you a brilliant victory and a breakthrough in our fight against the fascist war!"

Eisenhower suddenly turned red and said incoherently incoherently.

"Well! Thank you! Thank you too, Commander Eisenhower!"

Seeing the other party's impoverished appearance, Cunningham also said the topic of changing things.

"Thanks!"

Seeing this, Eisenhower said very gratefully.

"Oh no, Commander Eisenhower! Our British escort transport team code-named ‘OB-300’ and several other transport fleets entering and leaving the Atlantic were also attacked by German submarine groups. Now they are all suffering heavy casualties, so we are urgently asking for help!"

Just as Eisenhower and Cunningham were organizing the aircraft carrier fleet at the Algiers command, a combat staff member hurriedly with several emergency telegrams in a cold sweat, hurriedly ran in and shouted loudly.
