Chapter 40 The old lord's integrity

On a clear evening, next to the central square of the Klumber-Hesson factory, Weiss was wearing brown work clothes as usual, holding his hands in front of him, staring at the shift workers with a calm and kind look. Major Foral, the Norman officer in charge of factory security, held his head up and his hands behind his back, looking at the workers moving in his sight with a completely different cold look.

At the end of the shift change, the Norman soldiers closed the factory gate as usual, but soon after, they quickly opened the door. A car painted in yellow and green camouflage into the factory area and went straight to the central square. Before the car could stop, Major Foral had changed his arrogant attitude and faced the car in a standard military posture.

After the car stopped, Ze's orderly officer came out of the passenger seat, walked quickly to Major Foral, and explained to him in Norman language. The lame major nodded reluctantly. The orderly officer said to Weiss: "Get on the car!"

Weiss came to the car without being happy or sad, and slowly opened the car door and sat in the empty back seat.

As the car left the factory, Ze's orderly turned back from the passenger seat: "The Governor has already gone to Klumber-Heisen Castle first."

Weiss nodded without responding. Since returning to Somsonas, he has been bound to the Klumber-Hisson factory. Ze has not come to the factory again, and he has a phone call with Weiss every three or five days, but the conversation is mostly about official business, and only occasionally mentions the situation of his family. Today is the Lord's fifty-fifth birthday. Ze has informed him in advance and will allow him to leave the factory to reunite with his family.

When the car was driving on the mountain road leading to the Klumber-Hesen factory, a biplane flew from the northeast. Weiss narrowed his eyes and saw that it was indeed a fighter jet of the Federal Army, and it was obviously a weapon with great power. The upper limit of the attack power was comparable to that of the second-class patrol ship!

The biplane lightly swept across the city of Somsonas, threw the sparse anti-aircraft artillery fire behind him, and then wandered around the city, which was obviously reconnaissance of the Norman army's deployment. Before the plane could approach, Ze's orderly man asked the driver to drive the car to the side of the road. The rocks here are rugged, the vegetation is sparse, and occasionally there are a few trees and bushes, which are not enough to cover the traces of the car.

The orderlyman pulled his pistol out of his holster and shouted at Weis in Ulster, "Get out of the car and lie down on the ground!"

Weiss could identify the enemy and enemy of the fighter. The fighter pilot would not know that there were his own people in the car. Maybe he saw that the car was like the Norman officer's car and dropped a bomb. So he quickly got out of the car and ran for more than ten meters with the driver and the orderly lie down. He only heard the roar of the plane's engine getting closer and closer. When he looked up, the white fighter passed by at a low altitude and did not fire for the first time. After a moment, it returned. This time he used a machine gun to strafuse the glass of the car.

Under the deterrence of the Federal Army fighter jets, the driver and the orderly soldiers lay tightly on the ground, not daring to move. With Weiss' battlefield experience and melee ability, this was originally a good opportunity to kill the gun, otherwise he could have taken the opportunity to slip away, but he hesitated for a moment and did not take action.

A car that the crew had fled was obviously not very attractive to the Federal Army fighter pilot. After the strafing, it did not turn around and instead shot back at Somsonas. After about two minutes, a loud explosion came from the direction of the city.

The Federal Army fighter jets quickly flew out of sight. Weiss climbed up calmly, and the sparse sound of anti-aircraft guns had stopped. In the sunset, a stream of black smoke rose up. Judging from the direction, even if the bomb was not at the Klumber-Hesen factory, it was not far from it. There were Norman air defense positions deployed near the factory, as well as a barracks and training grounds, which were optional bombing targets for the Federal Army fighter jets.

"Can the car still work?" the orderlyman asked the driver in Norman language.

Of course Weiss can understand it.

The driver got in the car and tried it, and the car could be activated. Weiss walked closer and saw that in addition to the front windshield, the roof and left door were also hit by bullets. The aesthetics and the function of sheltering the wind and rain were affected, but it should not be a big problem to repair.

The car was barely useful, and the orderly man seemed to breathe a sigh of relief. He turned around and looked at Weis, retracting the pistol into the holster. He seemed to be satisfied that Weis did not escape in the chaos. He spoke with a clear tone: "Please get in the car!"

Weiss sat in the car without saying a word, and his thoughts shifted from his yearning to what had just happened. The Federal Army fighter jet was equipped with a powerful bomb and stayed near Somsonas for a long time, which meant that its flight distance from the airport to here would not be too far. The front line of the Federal Army might have advanced into Lorraine!

"Since the Ulster fleet was annihilated by us, we have been able to fight against us by relying on these simple aircraft. What's the point? This is the era when the flying fleet is king!" the driver muttered in Norman's words.

The orderly soldier was still sitting in the passenger seat. He turned his head and looked at Weiss, and then responded in Norman: "Don't underestimate these aircraft. They do not need star source stones, and they are not limited by the production of star source stones. As long as there is sufficient steel and wood, they can produce as much as they want. These things have poor attack power, but when there are many, they can threaten our warships."

"They just dare not fight us upright!" The driver's words were full of disdain.

In contrast, the orderly idea is much more pragmatic: "Come on! The upright battle only exists in the story of the knight. As long as you can win, who cares about what method it is!"

When the car arrived at Klumber-Hisen Castle, the sunset was as bright as fire. For those who had not experienced the hardships of war, this natural landscape was beautiful and spectacular, but for those who had participated in the battle and had seen many bloody scenes, this scene inevitably evoked memories that they did not want to touch.

The crystal chandeliers in the castle hall were already on. Although there was no music, the air was filled with the tempting aroma of food and the faint sound of speech. Suddenly, I felt the smell of home, and Weiss's nose felt sour: If there was no separation, if there was no war, everything would be the same as before. What a happy thing!

Before Weis could enter the castle, a figure that was not familiar appeared at the entrance of the hall.

"Are you attacked by enemy planes on the way?" This was Ze's voice, as calm as ever, and it seemed that there was no sense of worry.

"Sorry, to me, it is not an enemy plane, but a combat plane for our own people." Weiss corrected without hesitation.

Ze was led by a military force and was speechless. The Norman Orders following Weiss quickly reported in Norman: "Baron of the Sword - Lord Governor of Lorraine, we were indeed attacked by enemy planes on the way we came. The car was hit by bullets, the glass was broken, and the top and door were broken. Fortunately, we got out of the car and hidden, and the person was not injured."

"This reminds us that the war continues and we must not relax our vigilance at any time." Ze said in a tone of inspiration.

"Yes, follow your instructions!" the orderly force responded.

"You are here to stand by. Without my call, you are not allowed to enter without permission." Ze left this command, turned around, and walked into the hall door with Weiss.

Compared to the last time Weiss came to meet Ze alone, the decoration of the castle hall did not seem to change, but it felt very different - at this moment, their family was sitting on the sofa in the hall: the Lord and the Couple and Bella!

The separation with the Lord and his wife was just this month, and the last meeting with Bella can be traced back to the fall of the secret camp on the 4th more than a month ago. The family reunion did not have any scenes of crying or crying, they just walked together silently, hugging silently, and were reluctant to part for a long time.

"Okay, you're all hungry! Dinner is ready, go to the restaurant!" The Lordesha took the lead in breaking the silence.

So Weiss and Bella helped the Lord to walk towards the restaurant one by one, and Ze was left behind by them, but he was not alone. The Lordewiss held his arm tightly, fearing that the eldest son would lose again. For the mother, no position is important, and the health of the children is better than everything.

The five of them came to the dining table and sat down according to their usual locations. Weiss then realized that Ze's seat had been kept for him.

The strange servant brought them hot food, and the dishes were similar to those of Weiss who had been late here in the past. Ze unscrewed the bottle and poured wine for everyone himself, and said, "Tonight, we have no distinction between camps, identity, and no discussion about outside things. We are an ordinary family, having an ordinary dinner."

No one responded to this, but no one raised objections.

"Today is your birthday, my beloved father." Ze raised his glass, "I know that no gift can change your view of me, and you will not accept it no matter how the gift comes, so... I have to give you a special birthday gift - a promise: no matter what happens, as long as possible, I will try my best to preserve the Klumber-Hisen factory and allow your lifelong efforts to survive."

The Lord did not look at him at the sight, but snorted coldly. In the old gentleman's concept, the honor of the family is inseparable from loyalty to the country. For hundreds of years, the Klumber Heisen family has been serving Ulster. Even if Lorraine fell, they would rather close the factory and seal the machine than compromise with the enemy. This time Ze not only betrayed Ulster, but also became an invader and occupier. With the Lord's temperament, he could let him enter the door and allow him to sit at the dining table, probably because of the Lord's dear son.

Not pleased by the Lord, Ze had no temper at all. He drank a glass of himself, poured wine for himself, and raised his glass again: "No matter what, it is really not easy for our family to sit together today. No one can predict what will happen in the future. Just tonight, at this moment, let us raise our glasses together, not for anything else, just for us to be a family."

However, no one raised his glass at the dining table, and even the Lord's wife was just staring at the Lord.
