Chapter 10 First Practice

Coach John Thompson III graduated from Princeton in 1988. He has been a main member of the Tigers for four years at the school. Seven years after graduation, he returned to this Ivy-covered campus and successively followed the great Pete Carter.

Coach Riel and Coach Bill Carmody studied together and became the senior coach just two years ago.

The head coach of the Tigers could still rely on the relatively good results of some veterans in the first two years, but this year, except for Patrice, he can no longer find a competitive player on the team;

He spent a lot of time collecting new players, but who would have thought that Patrice would bring him such a monster today!

"Powerful point guard? Barron Davis?" Thompson muttered in a low voice. He had already made a decision. Even with Lu Qiujian's strength, he had to fight for him to stay. He looked up and saw Patrice.

Craning his neck furtively to look at the physical test results in his hand, Thompson stretched out his fist and pounded his chest, "Hey, what kind of skill is your friend best at?"

"Well, his shooting is very good! Even better than Ray Allen and Stojakovic!" Patrice dodged Thompson's fist and came over to ask, "Dear JT3, what are Lu's grades?

Like?" JT3 is Thompson's nickname. He usually doesn't put on any airs in training, and the players also like to make harmless jokes with him.

"This has nothing to do with you!" Thompson stuffed the report card back into his pocket, "Go and call your friends over, let's test fixed-point shooting!" Generally speaking, the stronger the player, the more average the shooting touch. Lu Qiujian said.

With the body of a point guard but the strength of a power forward, how can his shooting percentage be so high!

"Sir, please call me!" Lu Qiujian walked to Coach Thompson and asked.

"Go to that basket and shoot five balls at each of the five marked points. Patrice pick up the ball for him!" Coach Thompson pointed to the opposite basket, two bases outside the three-point line.

The two 45-degree angles and the position facing the basket were each marked with a red dot. After saying that, he patted his shoulder and said, "Go ahead and give poor Thompson a surprise!"

"Man, do you want to make a bet? Bet five dollars, if Lu misses more than three goals, I lose?" Patrice picked up the basketball and whispered to Spencer Grogel beside him.

.

"No, I won't bet with you!" Spencer, who had always been keen on betting with him, rejected his proposal.

"Why?" Patrice scratched his head depressedly, "Should I not let you take another shot? If I miss two, I lose?"

"Man, have you forgotten what my major is? With the psychology knowledge I learned in class, I can easily tell from your current facial expressions that you have an extraordinary grasp of this bet. If that's the case,

,Why should I give you money?" Spencer shrugged and looked at him innocently.

"Shit! So every time I bet before, you made the bet because you saw that I didn't have confidence?" You guys with high IQs are so bad! Patrice threw the basketball to Lu Qiujian in anger.

, "Lu, give them some color and see!"

The guys on the Princeton basketball team are really interesting! Lu Qiujian held back his laughter and took the basketball. His body assumed a shooting posture like a conditioned reflex. He jumped up slightly, pressed his wrist to pull out the basketball, and the net opened with a swipe.

A white wave.

"All five from the left corner!", the assistant coach couldn't help but say out loud.

"The forty-five degree angle is perfect again! He can participate in the three-point contest!"

"Three-pointers, John, what's the record for the three-point contest?"

"Oh, what a pity, I finally missed one!"

"Twenty-three out of twenty-five shots, a hit rate of 92%! Although it is only in training, this number is not something that ordinary marksmen can achieve!" Blake exclaimed, if he knew that he missed the shot

The two balls were deliberately made by Lu Qiujian to avoid being too scary. I’m afraid he might lose his glasses!

"Excellent strength, too slow speed, accurate shooting, and only a height of 1.86 meters. Blake, tell me which position a person like this should play?" Coach Thompson touched his bald head in distress.

"Well!" Blake thought for a while, "Why don't we let him participate in an intra-team match first! We can observe and observe based on the course of the match."

"Let's do it!" Thompson clapped his hands and gathered the players scattered throughout the basketball hall, and quickly divided the teams into teams. In order to take care of Lu Qiujian, he assigned Patrice to Lu Qiujian's team.

"Lu, catch the ball!" Patrice on the inside used his strong body to squeeze past Spencer and grab the offensive rebound and quickly passed it to Lu Qiujian on the outside. Lu Qiujian quickly took action and scored a three-pointer.

"I also maintained a good shooting rhythm during the game!" Black said softly.

As a result, Lu Qiujian quickly gave his opponent two free throw opportunities due to blocking fouls during the defense. When he turned back to attack, he didn't know how to move. He just looked for opportunities around the three-point line. Patrice caught the ball.

Afterwards, he couldn't find a route to pass to him, so he had to attack by himself, and the basketball bounced out of the frame.

Ten minutes later, Lu Qiujian came off the court because of five fouls. His score was six points on two of three shots, two rebounds, and five fouls.

"It seems that he is a newbie, but after a period of training, he may bring us surprises!" Black concluded.

"Did you notice? There were a few times when he retreated from defense that his speed was not as slow as the physical fitness test numbers, and his movements when dribbling the ball were also very smooth. It seems that we need to formulate a detailed training plan!",

Thompson was experienced and quickly spotted the loopholes that Lu Qiujian accidentally leaked during the game.

"You want him to be a point guard?" Black asked.

"Why not? His power will make the point guards of other teams in the Ivy League cry for their mothers!" Thompson's eyes flashed with excitement.

"Patrice, is your physical performance really ranked among the top in the history of the Tigers?" After a day of training, Lu Qiujian also discovered that these players are similar to those players when he first watched the NBA.

The performance is very different.

"Of course!" Patrice said firmly, "Honest Patrice will never lie!"

"Oh my God!" Lu Qiujian held his forehead in distress. It seems that the history of this team is really sad. "I think the Princeton Tigers' honor roll must be like a collection of German humorous jokes and Italy's victory.
