Chapter 33 Qinhuai Bayan
Let’s talk about Wang Pu.
After leaving Suzhou, I walked through the water for three days and three nights and finally arrived in Nanjing.
Nanjing, also known as Jinling, is located in the tiger and dragon plate, and is majestic in the south of the Yangtze River.
The Eastern Wu, Eastern Jin, Song, Qi, Liang and Chen Zeng successively established their capitals here. This is the origin of the Six Dynasties among the "Six Dynasties Jinfen". If we add the later Southern Tang, Southern Song, Ming, and Republic of China, it will be the real ancient capital of the Ten Dynasties, which has a long history.
When it comes to Jinling, we must mention the Qinhuai River. When it comes to Qinhuai River, we must mention the Eight Beauty of Qinhuai River.
The so-called Eight Beauties of Qinhuai refer to the eight famous Nanqu socialites who lived in the Ming and Qing dynasties.
There were two types of prostitutes in Jiangnan in the late Ming Dynasty. One was a prostitute who specialized in flesh-and-skin business, which is the prostitute in the popular sense today, called Beiqu, and the other was a geisha who was not a person who was selling her skills, called Nanqu, or Old Qu. They were almost the female stars in the entertainment industry today, but they were definitely more talented than the female stars today.
The eight other beautiful prostitutes, including Liu Rushi, are such geishas. They can poetry, painting, singing and dancing, which is both outstanding in color and art.
In the Ming Dynasty, the Jiangnan Shilins had always regarded visiting prostitutes as a gentleman. When friends gathered, they often invited several famous Nanqu socialites to accompany them. The famous Nanqu socialites were also happy to make friends with the people in the Shilin, because the people in the Shilin could use their poems, paintings, articles and their own fame to advertise and promote them.
This is actually a transaction. The celebrities in the Nanqu used their laughter and talents to entertain the people in the Shilin to exchange for the praises from the people in the Shilin to them. Unfortunately, many celebrities in the Nanqu do not know this and often devote too much true feelings to the people in the Shilin to make friends, but the final result is often not satisfactory.
Most scholars in the late Ming Dynasty talked about the country and did not dare to take responsibility, but they liked to talk and gravitate towards each other. This was not an individual phenomenon, but a common phenomenon in that era. Under the dual stimulation of the distorted Cheng-Zhu Neo-Confucianism and the corrupt imperial examination system, the values and outlook on life of those Confucian scholars in the late Ming Dynasty were completely distorted.

Nanjing.
The six ministries, the Censorate, the Imperial College, the officials of all sizes of Yingtian Prefecture, and the great and small relatives of all sizes in Nanjing have gathered outside Chaoyang Gate and are lined up to welcome Wang Pu Desheng back. Emperor Chongzhen issued an order to welcome Wang Pu with the courtesy of an imperial envoy. Of course, officials of all sizes of Nanjing dare not neglect.
What is an imperial envoy?
Even if he is just a little groom, as long as he wears the title of "instruction envoy" on his head, he will immediately become the emperor's representative, which is equivalent to the emperor coming in person. Who dares not come to greet him?
The gentry and people in Nanjing who learned the news also rushed to Chaoyang Gate to see the style of Wang Pu, the general of Datong. Of course, they wanted to see if the Jiannunu chief Huang Taiji was really as rumored, three feet tall, big eyes as big as bells, and even a slit tiger and leopard.
In the folk, storytellers all describe Nurhaci and Huang Taiji as such.
At about noon, a large group of people finally appeared on the official road in the distance. The hundreds of thousands of Nanjing people waiting outside Chaoyang Gate suddenly cheered and shook the mountains and fields.
Wang Pu walked in front of the team first. When he saw the crowds of people outside Nanjing, he was shocked. Didn’t he catch Huang Taiji? As for how it was so grand?
In fact, Wang Pu didn't know that since the Battle of Sarhu, the Ming army had been defeated repeatedly, and the soldiers and civilians of the Ming Empire had reached the point of being scared when they heard about Jiannu. This time, Wang Pu broke through Shengjing in one fell swoop and captured Huang Taiji alive was like moving the huge rock on the chests of the Ming army and civilians. The joy that burst out after a long period of depression can only be described as madness.
This is also the entire reason why Wang Pu was so warmly welcomed on the way from Songshan Prefecture to Nanjing. Even Zhang San, a barefoot gangster who was rampant in Taihu Lake, sincerely believed that Wang Pu was a great hero!
Chang Yanling, Li Zushu intentionally lagged behind a few steps and gave his conspicuous position to Wang Pu and others. Zhen Youcai, who was riding a horse behind Wang Pu, Scarface, Xiaoqi and others were already trembling with excitement. Scarface even had his eyes red, and he whimpered to Wang Pu, "General, how great would it be if the bearded man and the others were there?"
Wang Pu nodded and said in a deep voice: "We will always remember the bearded man, and all the brothers who have not been able to return to the Ming Dynasty alive. Today's honor should belong to them, and they exchanged their lives for it!"
At this time, the Minister of Rites of Nanjing He Xiongxiang [the six ministries in the Ming Dynasty were ranked first, the Ministry of Personnel was ranked second, and the Ministry of War was ranked last]. The governor of Nanjing and the head of Xincheng Zhao Zhilong had already brought officials of all sizes and big and small. The honorary relatives came up. Wang Pu hurriedly turned over and dismounted and met with the main officials in the lead.
If Wang Pu is just a small general, he is not qualified to be with these six ministries. The senior officials of the Censorate and the senior officials of the Censorate and the imperial court are ranked in the order, and he is not qualified to let them wait outside Chaoyang Gate to welcome him. However, three days ago, Emperor Chongzhen sent an imperial edict and gave Wang Pu a title of "instructor". This identity is quite impressive.
With the support of two minor officials, He Xiongxiang, the Minister of Rites in Nanjing, walked up to Wang Pu in a pot of wine and said respectfully: "General Wang is like a god, and he will attack Huanglong to capture the slave chief alive, which will greatly enhance the morale of our Ming officers and soldiers. The subordinates are willing to respect General Wang for millions of people in Liudu."
A small official had already taken the wine glass and waited for He Xiongxiang to fill it and delivered it to Wang Pu.
Wang Pu took the wine glass, turned to face the northeast, looked in the direction of Liaodong, and said with a solemn expression: "I want to use this glass of wine from Mr. He to toast all the Ming soldiers who died in the Songshan front line. If it were not for the desperate battles of the thousands of Ming soldiers, they would have attracted all the Jiannu's army to the Songshan front line, I, Wang Pu, would have been impossible for me to break through Shengjing, and I would not have been able to capture the slave chief Huang Taiji alive!"
After saying that, Wang Pu turned his glass and solemnly sprinkled the wine on the ground.
He Xiongxiang filled Wang Pu's wine again, raised his glass to the cup of Belt and said solemnly: "This second glass of wine will eventually be toasted with billions of Ming people, including the millions of people in Liudu. If you hadn't saved money, snatched from your mouth, saved from your teeth, and paid for my border soldiers, the border soldiers would never have been like today!"
"Okay, well said!" He Xiongxiang was so excited that his old face trembled slightly, and he gasped, "General Wang was not arrogant because of his merits, and was not arrogant because of his nobleness. It is rare! I have been an official for fifty years, and although I have not made any achievements, I have never done anything wrong. This innocent body and confidence also means that I can get millions of people in Liudu. I will do this for the people of Liudu and the people of the world!"
After saying that, He Xiongxiang took the wine glass and drank it all.
There was a Ming Dynasty that was the most cruel dynasty in which ministers were persecuted by the emperor. But because the Ming Dynasty was a dynasty in which the Han people ruled, it was also the dynasty in which ministers dared to speak out for advice the most, and it was also a dynasty in which treacherous ministers and loyal ministers emerged at the same time. In short, the Ming Dynasty can be said to be the most complex and incomprehensible dynasty in China's thousands of years of feudal history!
Wang Puxian respected the fallen border soldiers and respected the people of the world, but deliberately disrespected Emperor Chongzhen in Beijing. He catered to the temper of the censors in Nanjing, who always advocated that "the people in the world are the most important, and the king is the least" and naturally won their favor.
"Okay, Mr. He is honest and honest, which is enough to represent all the people in the world."
Wang Pu took the lead in applauding, and they all followed. Wang Pu turned around and waved his hand. The two servants behind him made a comeback. The four teams of Jinyiwei had already escorted four prison vans with great might. The prison vans were naturally Huang Taiji, Dai Shan, Hai Lanzhu and Bumubutai.
The people of Nanjing, crowded outside Chaoyang Gate, suddenly cheered like a blowout.
Amid the sequels of shouts and cheers, He Xiongxiang said to Wang Pu: "General Wang, please!"
Wang Pu quickly replied with a stern hand: "Please please, Mr. He, please, sir."
He Xiongxiang and Zhao Zhilong accompanied Wang Pu on the left and right, and the rest of the officials from all over the world followed him, walking one after another on the red felt, followed by four prison vans.
The people of Nanjing, crowded on both sides of the official road, were like crazy, smashing things, eggs, tomatoes on the prison cart, and smashing whatever they could with their hands. If it weren't for the two teams of Jinyiwei standing by the road to stop them, perhaps these people who were out of control would have rushed up and swallowed Huang Taiji and bitten them alive.
In the afternoon of the same day, officials including He Xiongxiang and other big and small held a banquet at the Ministry of Rites to welcome Wang Pu.
