Chapter 365~366 The critical point of war(1/2)

Chapter 365~366 Two updates on the critical point of war

The Storm-class battleship destroyer is only one of the various military equipment innovations of the Chinese Empire. Entering the eleventh year of Guanghua, the Chinese Empire is carrying out a new military reform plan for the three navy, army and air force.

In addition to continuing to develop and build Song-class battleships equipped with 16-inch main guns, the Navy set off a global arms race in 1911 and continued to be in the leading position of the world's navy.

In addition, after more than three years of testing, the relevant technical demonstration work has been completed. With the four modified aircraft carriers, Fuboshan CV-2, Xiangtrus Hill CV-3, Caidieshan CV-4, and Danxiashan CV-5, as test platforms, the Navy accumulated relevant experience, the first newly designed domestic aircraft carrier Huangshan class was officially started construction at the Guam Naval Base Shipyard on March 5, 1909, and was completed at the end of June 1911. After five months of sea trials, it was officially put into service at the end of 1911.

The reason why the Imperial Chinese Navy chose to build an aircraft carrier in Guam was mainly because the Imperial Chinese Navy prevented the detection of spies from being detected by other countries. The choice to build on an isolated Pacific island that is rarely visited, which can not only avoid foreign spies from approaching the reconnaissance, but also facilitate direct access to the depths of the Pacific Ocean for sea trials.

Two aircraft carriers of Huangshan class were built, the Huangshan CV-6 and the Lushan CV-7 were named after the famous Chinese mountains Huangshan and Lushan.

As a completely newly built aircraft carrier at the first level, the Huangshan class directly chose the right angle oblique flight deck layout method, integrating takeoff, landing, standby, and lifting operations. The island is concentrated on the starboard side, and the three chimneys are merged into a large oval chimney. The middle and upper part of the island is a regular octagonal bridge command room, integrating combat command, personnel dispatch, and tower functions, making it convenient to view the takeoff and landing operations of aircraft carriers and carrier-based aircraft from any direction.

This was 40 years earlier than the similar layout of European and American aircraft carriers in history, allowing the aircraft carriers of the Imperial Chinese Navy to realize the development model of modern aircraft carriers from the very beginning.

The standard displacement of Huangshan-class aircraft carrier is 25,300 tons, full load displacement of 36,500 tons, 203 meters long, 40.5 meters wide, and 8.5 meters draft. The flight deck is 195 meters long and 66 meters wide, and can carry 120 Mao Yao carrier-based aircraft.

There are six hangars, each hangar can store 15 aircraft, and 30 are placed on the flight deck on the open air. There are 4 elevators, 2 take-off area platforms on the port side of the island, and 2 are located at the end point of the landing area behind the island.

The main engine is 12 oil-fired boilers and 4 sets of Parsons gear-driven steam turbine units of Beiyang Power Company, with a total power of 1200 million horsepower, a maximum speed of 30 knots, and a range of 12,000 nautical miles and 20 knots.

In terms of the structure of the ship island, it is smaller than the island of any first-class 30,000-ton warship of the Chinese Empire, and is closer to the tail. The overall structure of the ship is more reasonable. From the bottom to the bridge is about 18 floors high. Below the flight deck is divided into 10 floors, with 1-4 floors being fuel compartment, freshwater compartment, ammunition compartment and engine compartment. The 5 and 6 floors are sailor compartment, food compartment, restaurant and administrative office. The 7 and 8 floors are carrier-based aircraft maintenance rooms, maintenance personnel and radar personnel compartment; the 9 and 10 floors are hangars, combat duty rooms and pilots dining rooms. The island-style superstructure above the deck is divided into 8 floors, from bottom to top: fire fighting, medical, combat personnel compartment, tools, communications and electrical materials library, bridge captain, officer room, tower flight command personnel, communication studio, etc.

There are 2 steam catapults on the right angle and oblique decks, mainly used to eject bombers to help the bombers fly safely, while fighters can take off without the help of catapults. There are 4 blocking cables and 1 blocking net on the oblique deck; the ship is divided into 10 combat departments, namely: combat, aviation, navigation, weapons, turbines, medical, communication, supply, safety and aircraft maintenance. Each department has several teams, with a total of 2,480 people in the entire ship, including 1,130 crew members and 1,350 air crew members.

Since the Navy of the Empire of China still uses battleships as fleet flagships, there is no Fleet Command department on the aircraft carrier. The aircraft carrier is used as a fleet naval aviation take-off and landing platform and follows the fleet.

As the emperor of the Chinese Empire, Wang Chenhao did not interfere with this arrangement. After all, in this era, giant ships and cannonism was still in an absolute leadership position. Only after several naval battles involving aircraft carriers will the Navy truly realize the power of aircraft carriers.

Since the aircraft carriers follow the fleet to fight, the offshore defense work is only responsible for other combat ships of the fleet. In order to reduce weight, the aircraft carrier itself is only equipped with 22 dual-mounted 102mm rapid-fire guns, all of which are high-level dual-purpose models.

The improvement of carrier-based aircraft is naturally indispensable to the construction of aircraft carrier platforms.

The performance of the Mao Yao carrier-based aircraft three years ago has been greatly upgraded. In addition to shortening the wingspan and folding, it is more suitable for naval carrier-based aircraft. The speed, ammunition load capacity and range have been improved accordingly.

The Mao Yao carrier-based fighter has added a hook under the belly of the aircraft, which can carry two 300 kilogram aviation bombs or a 600 kilogram black sorgold charge red-headed torpedo, with a combat radius of up to 400 kilometers.

After the completion of the two Huangshan-class aircraft carriers, they have been conducting live-fire tests in the waters near the Marshall Islands. The Mao Yao carrier-based aircraft is loaded with bombs or torpedoes and rushed to target target ships hundreds of kilometers away to carry out bombing.

The bomb roared from the air and landed onto the target ship. After a blast, it exploded, and a fiery red mushroom cloud rose. The torpedo dropped from the sea hundreds of meters away and rushed towards the target ship at high speed. After the collision was successful, a bolt from the blue suddenly erupted, causing huge waves hundreds of meters high...

On the sea more than ten kilometers away, the battleship of the Pacific Fleet flagship Han Wudi was anchored here. Above the island more than 20 meters high, a group of officers from the Pacific Fleet Command used telescopes to observe the live-fire exercises of the naval aviation.

Half an hour later, the remote control target ship was sunk in a violent explosion.

"It's sunk! It's sunk!" The officers shouted excitedly.

Li Dingxin smiled and said, "The power of the aircraft carrier cannot be underestimated! It sank the target target ship so quickly!"

Lin Jianzhang snorted and said, "It's just sinking an old armored cruiser. This bombing effect is useless for the main battleship."

Due to the limited weight of the bomb carrying bombs by the Cat Demon carrier aircraft, the destructive power of the 300 kilogram bomb can only deal with ordinary light cruisers, hunting ships, or ships with armor less than 50 mm. The power of the 600 kilogram red-headed torpedo is considerable, but unfortunately, the aircraft throws the torpedo into the sea from the air, and the accuracy is too poor. The torpedo is either too far away from the target ship or the wrong direction and cannot hit the opponent. Or when encountering a fast warship, the opponent avoids it in time, which also makes it difficult for the torpedo attack to succeed.

These reasons all lead to the fact that the combat capability of the aircraft carrier is not enough to compete with the main battleship. Once the position of the aircraft carrier is locked by the enemy's main battleship, a Huangshan-class aircraft carrier costing 9 million yuan in dragon coins will be reimbursed immediately.

Li Dingxin nodded and said, "Although the current aircraft carriers cannot pose a threat to the super god bow main ship, the combat concept of the aircraft carrier has revolutionized the direction of future naval battles. Twenty years ago, we thought the Dingyuan-class ironclad ship was an invincible existence. Now it seems that the Tang-class battleship we are building can sink it with one shot. This progress speed is amazing. Similarly, our aircraft cannot carry weapons that can sank the Super God Bow battleship, but it is foreseeable that in the future, our aircraft's range and bomb load will be greatly increased. As long as we can carry more than 1 ton of aviation bombs, it is enough to threaten our battleships."

Lin Jianzhang looked up at the sky and couldn't help but sigh, saying, "You're right! The future war may be determined by the sky, but that may be something decades later. We should all retire at that time, so let the next generation go to this problem! At present, our main opponents are fighting for the Super God Bow Battleship. Our focus should not be on the out of reach planes, but should face reality."

In any case, Lin Jianzhang always believed that giant ships and cannons were symbols of the power of the Imperial Navy, and aircraft carriers always relied on air force aircraft. The three navy and army armies competed with each other. If the aircraft carriers were allowed to exert their strong combat power, most of the navy's contributions would be stolen by the Air Force.

Li Dingxin could feel Lin Jianzhang's mentality, and he thought so in his heart, so he nodded and said, "Yes, let the next generation worry."

Lin Jianzhang suddenly asked: "How is our new ship progressing?"

Li Dingxin replied: "I just called the Navy in the morning and the additional budget for the Song-class battleship has been approved by Congress. This time, Congress is generous and approved our navy to build eight Song-class battleships at one time."

Lin Jianzhang snorted and said, "Will they be so happy? Isn't it because they castrated our battlecruiser plan?"

Li Dingxin nodded and said, "Yes, Congress has cut off our plan for Yuan-class battlecruisers. However, the designed speed of our Song-class battleship has reached 29 knots and is already competent for the task of battleships. The Naval Ship Administration calls it a fast battleship. We no longer need to build a new type of battleship that exceeds the Sui-class battleship. It is enough to use fast battleships at sea."

Lin Jianzhang said: "Our battle patrol has made great contributions to the empire, and I still have great feelings for them. In fact, I once imagined that if the battle patrol is involved in the battle when the main ship is fighting, the speed will be better than the opponent's two quarters."

Li Dingxin said in surprise: "You actually have this idea? This is because His Majesty explicitly prohibits the use of the battle patrol to fight against the main battleship."

Lin Jianzhang smiled and said, "Yes, Your Majesty explicitly prohibits it. It is because His Majesty's imperial edict is stuck that I am very curious. We have no experience in fighting with battleships. Why do you think that our battleship cannot defeat the enemy's battleship? In fact, I compared it. If the battleship of the same caliber battleship and the battleship are at a loss. But if we use our Sui-class battleship to attack the early St. Vincent-class battleships of the United Kingdom or the early Delaware-class battleships of the United States, the armor of both sides is similar, and our main gun caliber and speed are absolutely advantageous. If we fight our battleships."

Li Dingxin smiled and said, "It's just that. You have to be clear that the enemy also knows the reason for Tian Ji's horse racing. They will not send old warships to the mouths of the opponent's new warships. Besides, in naval battles, the main ships will fight to the decisive battleships. If our battle patrol attacks the enemy's old battleships, then the enemy's battle patrol will also attack our old battleships. The chances are equal to both sides, and you cannot take this risk."

Lin Jianzhang smiled and said, "Your Majesty's imperial edict is pressing on his head like Mount Tai. Do you think I have that courage?"

Li Dingxin smiled and said, "You'd better not be blinded by the military achievements. How many people are staring at your position!"

Lin Jianzhang smiled and said, "You must be there!"

Li Dingxin laughed a few times, not saying anything.

In order to deal with the Navy Expansion Act passed by the U.S. Navy in March 1911, the bill stipulates that the U.S. Navy will build five Tennessee-class battleships (bb-40 New Mexico, bb-41 Mississippi, bb-42 Idaho, bb-43 Tennessee, bb-44 California) and four Atlanta-class battlecruisers (Atlanta, Nashville, Columbus, and Pittsburgh) within the next two years. The Chinese Empire approved the construction of eight Song-class battleships in June of Guanghua's 11th.

The reason for building eight Song-class battleships in one go was not only to deal with the US's new nine battleships (five battleships and four battleships), but also because the British Navy also started construction of nine Revenge-class battleships in May 1911 (no battleship plans).

The five Tennessee-class battleships of the US Navy adopt a new keel design. The underwater protection of the hull is greatly improved compared with the old battleships in the past. They are divided into multiple layers of compartments and strengthened horizontal deck protection. This class of ships adopts the same electrical propulsion power system as the Pennsylvania-class battleships. Its 14-inch caliber main gun and secondary gun are equipped with fire control systems, and a large mast building is installed on its front and rear main masts to install fire control facilities (some battleships built in the early stage have also implemented this modification). And its main gun can be raised to 30 degrees, while the previous battleships can only reach 15 degrees, which increases its range by 10,000 yards, and the landing point can be determined by equipped seaplanes.

At this time, the US Navy already knew that the Imperial Chinese Navy had planned to build a Tang-class battleship and Sui-class battlecruiser. As a confrontation, the US Navy originally planned to install 15-inch main guns on Tennessee-class battleships and Atlanta-class battlecruisers. However, the US Navy's Department of Engineering has been delayed by the previous development of 13-inch and 14-inch main guns. At this moment, the US Navy's artillery technology finally could not keep up with the pace of the Imperial Chinese Navy's naval artillery technology. The 15-inch main gun could not be delivered to the US Navy on time, and could not catch up with the launch of the Tennessee-class battleships and Atlanta-class battlecruisers.

For this reason, the US Navy had no choice but to improve the caliber of the existing 14-inch 45-fold main gun and increase the caliber of the main gun to 50-fold. In this way, the shear force of the 356-mm shell fired will not be much worse than the shear force of the shell fired by the 381-mm 45-fold main gun of the Chinese Empire.

At the same time, the US Navy started construction of nine Revenge-class battleships the second year after learning that the British Navy, the Queen Elizabeth-class battleship, had started construction of nine Revenge-class battleships, and the main gun caliber of the equipment was still 45 times extended by 381 mm. The US Navy believed that Britain had not upgraded a larger caliber main gun (16-inch), and must have believed that the 15-inch main gun had reached its limit. Another reason was that the possibility of a war breaking out between Britain and Germany was expanding. The British Navy felt that the war with Germany was imminent, so it stopped building an immature 16-inch main gun, and chose an in-depth 15-inch main gun as the main combat weapon.

The US Navy believed that the Chinese Empire built 18 main warships in one go, which was a signal of war. After the construction was completed, the Chinese Empire launched a war against Britain. The US politics, military, and the people were basically 100% sure that a war would break out in Europe. The US Navy believed that the Chinese Empire, as a global force, would inevitably not be involved in the war. The US Navy believed that the Chinese Empire would not be indifferent to the large-scale expansion of Britain. They must be worried that the British would seek revenge on the Chinese Empire one day, so they speculated that the Chinese Empire would soon build a batch of main warships as a defense. Therefore, out of concerns about the maritime power of the Chinese Empire, the US Navy's awareness of land defense under the serious crisis forced the US Navy to urgently need to expand the main warships on a large scale.

In this way, both the U.S. government and the Navy require nine main battleships to be completed within the next two years in order to balance potential maritime pressure across the Atlantic and the Pacific.

Time is tight, and the US Navy has to fly first, so it can't wait for the 15-inch main gun or a more powerful 16-inch main gun to be successfully developed. It has to carry 14-inch main guns on Tennessee-class battleships and Atlanta-class battlecruisers, but it has to extend to 50 times, narrowing the power gap between the 15-inch main guns of China, Britain and Germany as much as possible.

The Tennessee-class battleship design standard displacement is 32,600 tons, and the full load will reach 35,190 tons. The power uses two Westinghouse steam wheels ("California" ge-type) and 2 generators produced by the United States, 8 Babcock-Wilcox-type oil-fuel boilers, with a power of 27,200 horsepower and a speed of 21 knots.

In comparison, the boiler system and steam turbine system developed by the United States itself are still very different from the relevant technology between the Chinese Empire and the United Kingdom, and the speed of the battleships' 21 knots is seriously outdated.

Since the Chinese Empire prohibited the export of advanced diesel boilers, the US Navy was temporarily unable to imitate it, so it could only use heavy oil, a total of 4,656 tons, and a cruising capacity of 8,000 nautical miles. Using heavy oil will often block the fuel injector nozzle, causing frequent boiler failures, which will aggravate this defect during long-term combat.

Except for the main gun being doubled to 50 times, other layout methods are the same as the Pennsylvania-class battleships. The only thing worth talking about is that the US Navy used a small catapulted seaplane for the first time on this class battleship, which was used for bounce-point reconnaissance during wartime. This was inspired by the intelligence intercepted by US spies from the Chinese Empire's naval community. In fact, the Chinese Empire's navy has long been trying, but it has been strictly confidential. As the news leaked, European and American countries have begun to use seaplanes as high-altitude reconnaissance eyes for bounce-point reconnaissance.

Similarly, the four Atlanta-class battlecruisers approved by the U.S. Navy in 1911 were basically the same as the previous Birmingham-class battlecruisers, but their speeds were slightly improved, and between 26.5 and 27 knots, they were seriously behind the Sui-class battlecruisers of the Chinese Empire (34 knots) and the British prestige battlecruisers (31 knots).

But no matter what, the US Navy started construction of nine main battleships in 1911, and the UK started construction of nine Revenge-class battleships (simple improved version of Queen Elizabeth-class), which in turn had to stimulate the Chinese Empire Navy.

The Imperial Chinese Navy originally planned to build four Song-class battleships and four Yuan-class battlecruisers, but the Diesel diesel boiler system and Parsons steam turbine system of Beiyang Power Group were further improved, greatly reducing weight and volume. At the same time, the combustion efficiency and actual output power were greatly improved, which has always plagued the Imperial Government's decision on whether to cancel the battlecruiser project.

As we all know, battle cruisers have to significantly increase the number of boilers and turbines because they require exceeding the speed. The fuel consumption is huge, resulting in the fuel tanks requiring more fuel to reserve more fuel and occupy too much space and weight. In this way, the cost and maintenance of a battle cruiser has become far more than that of the same level.

Congress has been clamoring to cut off the battlecruiser project, mainly because the construction cost and maintenance cost are too high. Now Congress has an excuse. After Beiyang Power Company's actual test of new oil-fueled boilers and steam turbine units, the results show that the newly designed Yuan-class battlecruiser must reach a speed of more than 34 knots. It used to be equipped with 33 oil-fueled boilers and at least 4 steam turbine units. Now it only needs to be equipped with 18 oil-fueled boilers and 2 steam turbine units to meet the requirements. The newly designed Song-class battleship only requires 15 new oil-fueled boilers and 2 new steam turbine units to achieve a speed of 29 knots. The space and weight of the hull occupied by the power system do not affect its installation of the 16-inch main gun system and corresponding armor protection.

In this way, the Song-class battleship with a speed of 29 knots already has the ability to cruise and fight, and does not need the role of Yuan-class battleship. Therefore, the armored Yuan-class battleship plan was cut off by Congress, but considering that the United States added 9 main battleships, the United Kingdom also claimed to build 9 Revenge-class battleships, the domestic media of the Chinese Empire said that Britain was ready to avenge the Chinese Empire. Under pressure from domestic public opinion, in order to appease the imperial citizens, Congress approved the construction of eight Song-class battleships.

Of course, there is another reason, that is, the General Staff of the Chinese Empire judged that wars would break out in the near future, because the British conflict had already reached a critical point, and Britain did not want to engage in an endless large-scale naval arms race, because the huge naval shipbuilding and maintenance costs had put the British finance on the verge of collapse. If the competition continues, the British economy will be dragged down. Therefore, the British senior management already had the idea to end the competition in a war situation (George V tried to peacefully resolve the competition with William II but failed, so the only way was to fight).

Britain started construction of nine Revenge-class battleships in one go, and fully suppressed the German Navy. This is a signal of war, which is the same as the Chinese Empire's sudden construction of 18 God-Bow-type battleships prepared to fight against Britain.

Emperor Chen Hao of the Chinese Empire keenly felt that the European war was about to break out. Therefore, when Congress cut off four Yuan-class battlecruisers, he instructed Congress to approve the additional four Song-class battleships. The reason was that the Chinese Empire's armed forces would not be idle during the outbreak in Europe. In addition to suppressing the US Navy, the rise of the Japanese naval force and the relationship between the Japan-US quasi-alliance was also Wang Chenhao's concern. He wanted to take advantage of the time when European countries had no time to take care of Asia, to drive the footprints of European powers out of Asia, defeat Japan, and finally establish a Greater China Co-prosperity Circle in Asia, and establish a dominant position in the world in politics, economy, military, science and technology and culture centered on Beijing in the East.

To achieve this goal, the European and American colonies in Southeast Asia will obviously not sit still and wait for death, and Japan will not obediently bow down. The US-owned Philippines will definitely need a Sino-US war to decide who to go with. When going to war with the United States, Wang Chenhao has to make preparations in all aspects. After all, under the huge industrial capacity of the United States, God knows how great the war potential he has. Wang Chenhao's strategy has always been to either not fight. If he wants to fight, he must hit the target with one blow and not give the other party a chance to turn the tables.

Under the influence of this international and domestic atmosphere, eight Song-class battleships of the Chinese Empire were started construction, and were built by eight of the most powerful shipbuilding companies in China. The bidding price of a single ship has soared to 25 million yuan in dragon coins.

The Song-class battleships were named after the eight emperors of the Song Dynasty. The first ship, the Song Taizu Zhao Kuangyin, was built by Shanghai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry. The other seven shipyards were built by Song Taizong Zhao Guangyi, the Song Zhenzong Zhao Huan, the Song Zhenzong, the Song Zhenzong, the Song Zhenzong, the Song Zhenzong, the Song Zhenzong, the Song Zhenzong, the Song Shu, the Song Yingzong, the Song Shu, the Song Shu, the Song Shenzong, the Song Xu, the Song Xu, the Song Zhezong, the Song Xu, the Song Zhengji, the Song Zheng, the Song Zheng, the Song Zheng, the Song Zheng, the Song Shu, the Song Shu, the Song Shenzong, the Song Xu, the Song Xu, the Song Zheng, the Song Zheng, the Song Zheng, the Song Zheng, the Song Ji, the Song.

In order to carry 16-inch giant cannons, it must maintain more than 15-inch armor, and a speed of 29 knots is required. The standard displacement of Song-class battleships when designed was more than 37,200 tons, and the full load displacement exceeds 40,000 tons, reaching 47,300 tons.

The firepower system adopts 12 16-inch (406 mm) caliber, 45-fold extension main gun, 4 triple turrets, two front and two rear, and a back-mounted layout, with a maximum elevation angle of 40 degrees. The secondary gun adopts 16 single-mounted 152 mm 50-fold extension rapid-fire guns, with a turret-type design, and the two sides of the ship are evenly arranged. 32 88 mm 55-fold extension high-level dual-purpose rapid-fire guns, and 16 double-mounted turrets. Two Cat-Demon Seaplanes, two sets of anti-submarine bombers, and two slide rails.

The island is as high as 25 meters. For the first time, it was designed according to the island layout of the Huangshan-class aircraft carrier. Three chimney pipes were connected together to form an extremely huge oval chimney. This made the island more compact and the structural layout of the entire warship more reasonable.

The fly-scissor bow, a slender hull of 211 meters, a square stern, a four-axis propulsion system, a regular hexagonal bridge and mainmast, a strong geometric arrangement, and a silver-gray metallic aesthetic paint constitute the most eye-catching symbol of the Chinese Empire naval warships during this period.

On the surface, the Chinese Empire's islands are arranged to be unique among the naval warships of all countries around the world and highlight the characteristics of the Chinese Empire's navy. The advertising effect is very obvious, and people can tell at a glance that it is a warship of the Chinese Empire.

However, only a very small number of professionals knew in their hearts that this layout was entirely out of military considerations.

The reason why the island chose a regular hexagonal arrangement is mainly because the regular hexagon is composed of geometrically regular triangles. The Chinese Empire's artillery experts believe that the inclined armor layout can effectively bounce off or reduce the invasion and destruction force of shells when hit. At the same time, the inclined armor protection can reduce the thickness of the armor, thereby reducing the total weight of the armor. For example, the cross-section of 100 mm is 100 mm thick. When the inclined at a certain angle, the cross-section armor thickness will increase to 120 mm. In this way, the 100 mm vertical armor will be changed to a regular hexagonal inclined armor layout, which can effectively increase the protection ability.

In terms of armor protection, the main armor belt is still 15-inch Chinese special steel, with key parts such as the front of the main gun turret, the front of the commander tower, the ammunition depot and other key parts are all 406 mm. Since the sight and fire control systems of Song-class battleships can already fire at 20 kilometers, the elevation angle of the shells is increased to 40 degrees, and the ballistic curve is more curved. It is no longer a horizontal direct strike method during the Sino-British War, nor is it a low-arc strike method during the Sino-British War, but a real parabolic strike method.

In this way, the shells hit the battleships in a parabolic manner in a higher airspace. The waterline armor is no longer the main defense position, and the horizontal armor deck must be thickened. Therefore, the Song-class battleships arranged five layers of protective armor on the horizontal armor deck for the first time, each layer of 40 mm of Chinese special steel, to withstand the damage of 16-inch shells.

At the same time, the main warships of European and American countries had very thin horizontal armor, and most of them were only 3 layers, totaling about 90 mm. Once they were hit by this parabolic long-range cannon, their destructive power would be amazing.

It can be said that the Song-class battleships of the Chinese Empire are one generation ahead of the navies of European and American countries in design concepts.

Similarly, with more than ten years of strong support from the Chinese Empire, Tesla, Marconi, Xu Jianyin and others completed the development of the wireless telephone system in April 1911, realizing the first wireless telephone communication in human history.

The successful development of the wireless telephone system was due to the fact that Tesla and Marconi developed key circuit components and systems related technologies such as vacuum transistors from the radio call system of the Jiaolong of Emperor Chenhao of the Chinese Empire. They developed a wireless telephone system based on these electronic components and circuit-related technologies. (4 years earlier than the world's earliest wireless telephone)

The trans-ocean radiotelephone communications studied by the Beiyang Science and Technology of the Chinese Empire use short-wave radio wave energy to refract from the ionosphere to return to the ground. Marconi and Xu Jianyin came out in 1910. By testing the Jiaolong radio call system, ultra-short waves were accidentally discovered. Tesla then discovered microwaves. Neither ultra-short wave nor microwaves could reflect from the ionosphere, and had the characteristic of linear propagation and could pass through the ionosphere. They could only propagate at a line of sight distance on the ground. Tesla and Marconi used this characteristic to develop multi-channel wireless relay communications. Ultra-short wave relay communications can transmit wireless telephones below 30 channels, and microwave relay communications can transmit thousands of telephones. The so-called relay communications is to set up a relay station within the straight line of sight range (about 50 kilometers in the plains of the ground) for reception and forwarding. The longer the communication distance, the more relay stations are set up.

Because the radio call system developed by Tesla and others is still very primitive, although it can achieve trans-ocean communication, the equipment is bloated and huge and cannot be civilized. However, the Chinese Empire's super god bow battleship has a ship island of up to 25 meters. The Navy Department has installed this radio call system on the main battleship island for this purpose.

In the past, the Chinese Empire Navy Fleet Command could only contact each ship through radio telegram. Now, the fleet commander can directly use a radio dedicated channel to directly talk to the commanders of each squadron and warships to convey orders. For battleships with a combat radius of more than 20 kilometers, this radio call system can help the fleet commander adjust the tactical formation in a timely and effective manner.

Apart from the Huangshan-class aircraft carrier and Song-class super battleship, the Navy has not made much progress in light cruisers. The main reason is that the light cruiser sank at the gun of the main battleship, so it has withdrawn from the decisive battle of the main ship and becomes a maritime escort warship. To this end, the Fengxian-class light cruiser of the Imperial Navy is still competent for this. Subsequent Fengxian-class light cruisers have successively installed advanced oil-fired boilers and steam turbine systems, with a speed of 32 knots. The earlier Fengxian-class light cruisers have also been upgraded and modified one after another, and the speed has also been increased from 28.8 knots to 30 knots. They can be promoted to the task of escort, inspection and swearing out territorial waters sovereignty.

In terms of hunting ships, the Chinese Empire Navy reduced the torpedo launch device to two dual-mounted 21-inch torpedo launch tubes on the design blueprint of the Storm-class battleship destroyer, and the space freed up was used to add a new main gun system and change it to a rainstorm-class hunting ship.

After this modification, the new destroyer's standard displacement is 1,367 tons, full load is 1,828 tons, and the main scale is 122.5 meters, 11.2 meters and 3.1 meters. The power system uses 2 Parsons 10 gear brake steam turbines and 3 Diesel high-efficiency diesel special boilers, with an output power of 38,000 horsepower, a designed speed of 35 knots, and a cruising capacity of 8,000 nautical miles and 18 knots.
