Chapter 22 Attack on Incheon Port

[Today's first update, the climax is coming, please recommend votes, please collect it!]

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Starting from October 25, the Beiyang Navy Office issued a ban on the three seas of Bohai Bay, Luda and Weihaiwei. The Beiyang Navy ships began large-scale operations in the waters around the Lushun and Weihaiwei Naval Base to drive away all ships.
There are many powerful countries among them, but in order not to give Japanese spy ships an opportunity, Wang Chenhao convinced Li Hongzhang to offend the powerful people this time.
At the same time, Wang Chenhao drove the Jiaolong to Incheon Port every other day to investigate and find out the situation in Incheon Port.
At this time, Wang Chenhao is no longer an ordinary military enthusiast. He shoulders greater responsibilities, which concerns the life and death of the Beiyang water teachers.
Before leaving, Ding Ruchang and Yang Shixiang always gave Wang Chenhao a systematic military theory course, and explained a series of details that needed to be paid attention to during this trip to Wang Chenhao. Ding Ruchang was afraid that Wang Chenhao would forget it, so he wrote it down for him.
As a commander, you must not only have outstanding military aspects, but also consider all aspects such as astronomy, geography, social sciences, and humanities. Ordinary people without these foundations cannot become excellent commanders.
Fortunately, Wang Chenhao has a wide range of knowledge and a solid foundation. He quickly gained a glimpse of the command science path and basically met the requirements of Ding Ruchang and Yang Shixiang, so he was relieved to go to Incheon.
Incheon Port is located in the middle of the west coast of North Korea, only 32 kilometers away from Seoul. The biggest feature is the large tide drop, with the largest drop of 10 meters, ranking second in the world. Moreover, the tide time of Incheon Port is also the most special in the world, with only one period every month (full date), and the full tide time is only three hours each night and the next morning.
Due to the large tide drop, if the two giant ships in Dingzhen participate in shelling Incheon Port, they must enter at high tide and leave before the tide the next day, otherwise they will fall into the boundless quagmire of Incheon Port and wait until the tide next month before they come out.
The Beiyang Navy's lightning strike fleet is used to attack the anchored Japanese warships, but the shore docks are piled with military supplies needed for Japan to invade China, and these have to be destroyed by the artillery of the Beiyang Navy's main battleship. Therefore, if the two armored iron battleships in Dingzhen are missing, the effect will definitely be greatly reduced, so Ding Ruchang chose to let the two ships participate in the operation.
This requires studying the astronomy and geography of Incheon Port.
The tide times after September in Incheon Port are September 15, October 13, November 5 and December 4 respectively. After research, Ding Ruchang decided to launch a raid and retreat from the two tides from the night of November 4 to the morning of the 5th.
The time must be pinched very accurately, otherwise the Beiyang Navy's warship would be in danger of being stranded, which also made Wang Chenhao's mission extremely heavy, but it greatly trained his abilities.
In the following days, Wang Chenhao drove the Jiaolong to draw a fixed mine defense map around Incheon Port. He marked all mine locations, depths and mine sizes. In addition, the reefs and shallows were detected one by one by ultrasonic, so that the Beiyang Navy fleet could safely approach the coast of Incheon Port. The rest of the work was to wait until the night of the operation and eliminate the small amount of mines randomly arranged by the Japanese army on the main channel that day.
Then, Wang Chenhao traveled twice in Incheon Port, recorded the number, model and parking position of Japanese naval warships, troops, and then left Incheon Port.
The main channel of Incheon Port is called Feiyu Gorge, which is 90 kilometers long. There is only one of the main channel. The Japanese Navy does not think that the Beiyang Navy dares to raid Incheon Port easily because the front line is too long and the nearby sea silt area is more than 120 kilometers, so it accidentally falls into it.
Wang Chenhao poked out that the Japanese army would temporarily arrange 8 to 14 random mines every night. After Wang Chenhao observed, he found that the channel was 2 kilometers wide and the water depth was 10 to 18 meters. As long as a warship was sunk by the artillery shells from the Yuewei Island Fort, the entire channel would be blocked.
Therefore, the Yuewei Island Fort guarding the waterway is crucial. Wang Chenhao then took a few laps near Yuewei Island, observed the daily schedule, patrol location and number of times, etc., and recorded them one by one. At the same time, he observed some Japanese patrol blind spots before returning.
With these records, Ding Ruchang can arrange a commando to attack the Japanese guards of Yuewei Island. Once they occupy Yuewei Island, it will be equivalent to solving the second major raid problem.
In the following days, Wang Chenhao conducted several reviews and finally helped the Beiyang Navy solve all the problems and solutions for the raid on Incheon Port.
On November 2, the Zhenyuan ship was repaired and opened the dock and reorganized into the main fleet. Before this, Wang Chenhao led the mine fleet to remove all the mines placed outside the Japanese ships outside the Port of Lushun.
On November 3, Weihaiwei and Lushun were lifted and no one was allowed to enter and exit. The Telegraph Bureau was closed and prohibited from sending newspapers for any reason. Even electricity was not allowed, and no bird could be released.
It was Wang Chenhao's idea to be so strict, because only Wang Chenhao knew that Japanese spies lurked in China in the world, and some began to lurk in China since their grandfathers. The victory and defeat of most wars in the world were actually determined by intelligence personnel. In the Qing and Japanese Sino-Japanese War, the family background and command intelligence system of the Qing Empire were known clearly by the Japanese Empire.
At 4 pm, Ding Ruchang summoned all the officers and soldiers of the Beiyang Navy to give a pre-war mobilization. At the mobilization meeting, in addition to being in charge of the mine fleet, Wang Chenhao was promoted to the admiral of the Navy Central Army and became the deputy commander-in-chief of the operation.
This is the first time that Wang Chenhao appeared in front of all the officers and soldiers of the Beiyang Navy, the base garrison, and was watched by tens of thousands of people. He was so thumping.
At 7 o'clock in the evening, the sky in the north was already dark, and the Beiyang Navy sailed away from Lushun Port under the cover of night.
Among them, most of the 26 torpedo boats were carried by the Beiyang Navy's main battleship. The remaining several torpedo boats were carried forward with the six ships of Wang Chenhao's mine fleet, including "Quick Horse", "Sea Horse", "Rock Thunder", "Guarding Thunder", "Down Thunder", and "Passing Thunder" and other tugboats, including the Beiyang Navy's auxiliary ships "Sea Mirror", "Meiyun", "Chaohai Zhao", "Jieshun", "Iron Dragon", "Flying Dragon", "Quishun", "Yishun", and "Lishun". The ships were carried forward. There were also communication ships "Fei Ting", "Fei Fu" to investigate along the way, as well as two coal transport ships and ammunition ships, including "Liyun", "Tao Raft", followed.
This operation dispatched almost all the Beiyang Navy and some of the Nanyang Navy's assets, which was very powerful.
Such a huge fleet was dispatched in full swing, Ding Ruchang did not dare to walk along the near sea, and could only advance along the distant sea and the middle line of the Yellow Sea, quickly not in the cold night.
At noon on the 4th, the entire Beiyang Navy fleet arrived in the depths of the Yellow Sea, 150 kilometers south of Incheon Port, waiting for the night to come.
During this period, Wang Chenhao drove the Jiaolong submarine to patrol the surrounding area, using the radar system inside to help the Beiyang navy guard the ships in the surrounding waters. If a ship approaches, the Beiyang navy must immediately transfer.
Perhaps because of war, there were very few ships in the Yellow Sea, and only two fleets passed by until dark. During this period, Japanese ships patrolled, and the Beiyang Navy successfully avoided it under the warning of the Jiaolong and was not discovered by the Japanese ship.
After dark, the Beiyang Navy dared to approach the waters in the direction of Incheon Port. Because at this time the long black smoke columns emerged from the warships had merged into the night, and the Beiyang Navy ships were painted with gray warship outfits that had exceeded 10 years in advance, it was difficult for the enemy to spot them in the night.
The high tide time on November 4 is from 10 to 12 pm. The Beiyang Navy will rush into Incheon Port during this period and destroy the Japanese warships and troop transport ships anchored inside.
Before this, Wang Chenhao drove the Jiaolong to command the mine fleet, "fast horse", "sea horse", "pole thunder", "guarding thunder", "under thunder", and "patrol thunder" and six minesweeping boats, began to quietly clean up the mines on the main channel.
Wang Chenhao drove the Jiaolong to lift the thunder anchor from the underwater. The officers and soldiers of the Mine Battalion separated the iron chain from the mine without much effort, and then gently pulled the mine away, leaving the main channel and stranded it on the shore.
At the same time, a commando team of 500 people sent by Ding Ruchang quietly landed on the island on the west side of Yuewei Island. It was the best landing point after Wang Chenhao's observation and it was also a blind spot for Japanese troops to patrol.
Then, according to the Japanese patrol schedule provided by Wang Chenhao, the commando team took advantage of the opportunity of about 10 minutes of patrol loopholes during their handover and quietly touched and killed the rotating guards in a silent killing manner. Then, the commando team touched several sentries on the periphery and successively killed the Japanese sentries arranged by the Japanese on Yuewei Island.
After dealing with the enemy outside, in less than an hour, the remaining 100 Japanese devils in the dormitory were silently wiped, and they went to find their Aunt Amaterasu in their dreams.
After the commando controlled the Tsukio Island, in case of precaution, they stuffed eight fortress cannons with gunpowder. Once the battle started, they immediately exploded the fortress cannons.
After Yuewei Island succeeded, Ding Ruchang breathed a sigh of relief and immediately ordered each ship to unload all 26 torpedo boats, unload the torpedoes from the ammunition ship and fill them all.
Since the torpedo boat troops are the main force in the first wave, Ding Ruchang ordered all torpedo boat officers and soldiers to first install the torpedo tube, and then they can bring an extra torpedo on the torpedo boat to spare, thereby increasing the attack success rate.
After all the preparations were made, we were waiting for Wang Chenhao and his mine fleet to complete the cleaning of the main channel.
Since the main channel is 90 kilometers long and the tide time is only about three hours, Wang Chenhao must clean up the main channel before 10 o'clock.
Fortunately, the Japanese army was preparing for the ships needed to land the landing troops. In order to hurry up, the Japanese mine-burning boats quickly left Incheon Port, and the number of mines was reduced. At the same time, they did not think that the Beiyang Navy dared to come, so they only arranged a small number of temporary mines on the main channel at night, and only 12 were arranged tonight.
The Japanese army was not stupid, and they also thought that the Beiyang Navy might come to attack Incheon Port. However, in their opinion, with the Beiyang Navy's mine clearance ability, it would be impossible to remove these twelve mines randomly placed on the 90-kilometer waterway at least to dawn.
However, they never expected that Wang Chenhao's Jiaolong could not only explode the chrysanthemums of their warships, but also easily detect the location of each mine, and easily remove it.
At 9:30 pm, Wang Chenhao's mine fleet cleared the main channel and placed a channel buoy to guide the fleet forward.
