While speaking, Pei Chen pushed open the gate of the castle and asked her to go out first.

The two walked shoulder to shoulder down the long stone steps and headed towards the school grounds.

Pei Chen did not return the book he was holding to Hermione, and Hermione seemed to be very at ease and let Pei Chen help her take it, without any respect from other professors and lecturers. The relationship between the two did not feel like a teacher or student at all, but was more like a pair of good friends with a relatively large age difference.
