Chapter 750 E-8 of New Bottle of Old Wine

At the beginning, after hard development, the Migoyang Design Bureau finally developed the light and flexible MiG-21 fighter jet. At the same time, the improvement of the MiG-21 fighter jet is also being carried out, and the e-8 verification aircraft project is the most in line with Andre's proposal!

Among all the improvements to the MiG-21 model, the e-8 is the most thorough. Although this was improved on the basis of the MiG-21p, the difference between it and other modifications is very obvious. Except for the wings, tail wings and landing gear that still retain the original ones, the rest of the parts have been redesigned. Even this verification aircraft is also planned to be awarded a new code name: MiG-, if it was not the popularity of variable sweep wing technology at that time, maybe the MiG- of the Soviet Union would be really this kind of aircraft!

The fuselage structure has been completely redesigned, and the nose intake duct was removed and moved to the cockpit. The air intake port is hexagonal in cross-section and is close to rectangular in appearance. The air intake channel is divided into two airways by partitions, and the well is integrated into one in front of the engine intake port. The intake air flow is adjusted by a three-wave vertical wedge block, and its adjustment mechanism is installed in the intake port partition. There is also a deflation valve on the side wall of the intake port.

At the same time, the nose is oval-conical. When it was designed, the "Sapphire-21" radar was pre-installed. At the same time, the aircraft was even more peculiar. The front flat tail was installed at the nose, but there was no control mechanism. When subsonic, the front flat tail was in a random deflection state; when supersonic, it was fixed in a neutral position. This device increased the lift coefficient and improved the maneuverability of the aircraft.

In fact, this is also to balance the weight brought by the nose. When the air intake is changed to the belly and the nose radar is increased, the center of gravity of the fighter will move forward. If the center of gravity of the fighter is restored, it is necessary to increase the lift in front.

At the same time, another feature of this aircraft is that it is equipped with large areas of ventral fins to improve direction stability. It also plays a role in assisting the vertical tail. When the aircraft lands, the ventral fins fold to the right to the horizontal state; and when the aircraft takes off and leaves the ground, the ventral fins return to normal vertical state. This design is very successful, and later it was used on the MiG-aircraft.

As the original designer of the e-8, Alexander knew the design of the aircraft. Now, helping Cheng Fei improve the J-7 is to bring out the e-8 solution and redesign it. The workload is not large. Moreover, Andrei means that this improvement is mainly to sell engines and avionics, and to explore new aircraft development plans.

For Migoyang Design Bureau, this is a job to do it, but for Cheng Fei, this project is of great importance. After all, Cheng Fei is responsible for his own profits and losses. The country will not pay a penny for this project. The Air Force's attention is also on MiG and will not allocate funds to Cheng Fei. It can be said that this project is related to Cheng Fei's development! Therefore, Cheng Fei's Tu Jida personally led the team, and a large number of teams rushed from China to Cairo.

For Egypt, this may be related to the main equipment of the Egyptian Air Force in the next few decades. In this era, Egypt has not yet imported the -16, and has not become the fourth largest overseas user of the -16. What will Egypt's main fighter jets look like in the future? Even Egypt's President Mubarak is very much looking forward to it.

In the conference room, a large group of people gathered, including Egyptian Air Force and senior officials of the Ministry of Defense, all sat aside and listened to the explanation of Mikoyan engineer Alexander.

"This is our solution. In order to adapt to the rd33 engine, the rear fuselage needs to be modified, and then the belly of the machine is intake to improve the performance of the large angle of attack. At the same time, there is a front flat tail at the front to improve the maneuverability." Alexander released the slides produced by Mikoyan Design Bureau, which almost looked like a vivid e-8.

"We have undergone long-term testing of this modified MiG-21. The engine was unqualified at the beginning. Now, with the rd33 engine, this fighter can easily achieve design performance, and the development cost will not be too high. We initially estimate that a development cost of 100 million rubles is enough."

At the beginning, the Migoyang Design Bureau had high hopes for this aircraft and built two prototypes and conducted test flights many times. The difficulties at the beginning can now be overcome, so it is not difficult to get this aircraft out. 100 million rubles is a bit more, but after the research and development is successful, the price will not be high in mass production and sharing costs.
