Chapter 606 The Kurds
If any nation wants to establish its own country just because it has established its own country in history, then the world will be in chaos! The entire world pattern has been formed, and in the existing pattern, it will only lead to more wars and deaths!
Israel has succeeded, and their success is based on the support of the entire Western world, on repeated wars, and on countless corpses!
And the Kurds have always been fantasizing about building their country!
The Kurds are mainly distributed in the Zagros Mountains and the Toros Mountains. They belong to Türkiye, Iran, Iraq and Syria, and a few are scattered in Lebanon, Afghanistan, Jordan and other countries.
The terrain here is steep, easy to defend and difficult to attack. As one of the oldest indigenous peoples in West Asia, the Kurds are strong and good at fighting. Although they have been failing, they are always in the struggle. They want to establish their own country, Kurdistan.
Kurdistan means "the home of the Kurds", but unfortunately, this is just their ideal. Since the 8th century, the Kurds have been slaughtered by the Turks, Persians and Arabs in turn. In the 19th century, Kurdistan was divided into two, most of which were incorporated into the Ottoman Empire, and the rest were returned to Persia. In the early 20th century, Kurdistan was divided into five parts, belonging to Turkey, Iran, British Iraq, French Syria and the Soviet Union.
This situation has led to more complexity in the region. For example, countries with conflicts with each other will support reactionary forces in the other side. Simply put, Iraq and Iran are supporting Kurds in the other side and causing trouble for the other side.
During the Iran-Iran War, this support reached its climax. Even in Iraq, an army specially composed of Kurds in Iran was established to launch an attack on the Iranians under the leadership of Iraq.
All of this became a thing of the past because of the slump of the Iran-Iran War. Under the mediation of the Soviet Union, Iraq and Iran stopped supporting the Kurds in each other's territory, and the Kurds lie dormant again.
The Iraqi Kurds are the largest ethnic minority in Iraq. They live in four northern Iraq provinces with a population of more than 4 million, accounting for about one-fifth of the total population. Iraq is also quite troublesome for these people.
Historically, in order to oppose the "Anglo-Iran Treaty" and the rule of the old dynasty, the Kurds carried out 11 armed uprisings. And just after the founding of the Iraqi Republic, armed conflicts continued.
The northern part of Iraq has a dangerous terrain, rich oil resources, and self-sufficiency in agriculture and animal husbandry products. Therefore, for the Kurds, if they occupy this place and establish their own country, they can live a very comfortable life. Unfortunately, their behavior of splitting the country will naturally be ruthlessly hit! Only after the Gulf War in later generations, with the support of Western forces, a no-fly zone was established in northern Iraq, which made Saddam lose control of the north. After the United States launched a war arbitrarily and completely overthrew Saddam's rule, the Kurds no longer split, because the entire Iraqi country was under their control, and the Iraqi president was the Kurds!
This also fully demonstrates the Kurds' job of separatist, to be simple, two words, power.
Now, during Saddam's rule, the Iraqi regime was very tough, and the Kurds could not make trouble at all. Unfortunately, with the beginning of the war, Iraq transferred large numbers of troops from the north to participate in the war in the south, which provided the Kurds with an opportunity.
Especially now, with the help of the US military, the Kurds' ideals for hundreds of years are about to be realized!
Standing on the Mosul Municipal Government Building, Jalar Talabani was in high spirits.
Jalar was born in the northeastern Kurdish region in 33. As early as 46, at the age of 13, he secretly organized the Kurdish student union and began to engage in the Kurdish liberation movement. It can be said that his life was fought for the liberation of the Kurds. Later, he joined the Kurdish Democratic Party. In 51, 18-year-old Jalar was elected as a member of the party's central committee.
In 1961, Jalar participated in an armed uprising launched by the Kurds and fought in northern Iraq, and was later suppressed.
In 1964, the Kurdish Democratic Party split, and Jalar, one of the members of the Kurdish Democratic Party, chose to quit the party. After the 75-year-old Erd uprising failed again, Jalar formed the Kurdistan Patriotic Alliance.
As a staunch revolutionary, he spent his entire life engaged in anti-government activities. Unfortunately, after Saddam ruled Iraq, the government's strength was greatly strengthened, and he was even less able to lead the Kurdish uprising. Seeing his career decline day by day, he was very anxious.
So, when the Americans came up, he agreed without any consideration. It is impossible for the Kurds to build their own country with their own strength, so they must find a strong foreign aid! And now, what foreign aid is more suitable than the United States?
Before the US military was about to arrive, Jalar launched another uprising. This time, he directly chose Mosul, the third largest city in Iraq!
There are only more than one thousand garrisons in Mosul! After the Kurdish armed forces in Jalal surrounded the local garrison, the local garrison surrendered without much resistance. The elite troops have been transferred away, leaving behind a group of mobs.
At the same time, it was also because of the help of the United States! Just when they launched the uprising, a US advance force, Delta Special Forces, cooperated with their operations, attacked the command organs, cut off communications, and seized the government building. Everything went very smoothly.
Mosul, the largest city in the north! After taking this place, with a loud shout, millions of Kurds will respond! The establishment of Kurdistan is right in front of you!
"Mr. Jalar, congratulations." At this moment, a voice sounded in Jalar's ears.
Jalar turned his head and said, Hitern, an agent of the CIA and the head of the Middle East. This time he came to negotiate with Jalar in person, which led to the cooperation between the two sides.
"We also need a lot of weapons, we need to form our own army," said Jalar. "I hope you can fulfill your commitment."
The United States promises to provide the Kurds with weapons to form their own army! Although they also have armed forces now, they are the level of guerrillas. They need to reach the level of regular troops, not only light weapons, but also aircraft, cannons, tanks, and these all require the support of the United States! (To be continued.)
