Chapter 254 Black Sea Shipyard

On the Black Sea coast, the suburbs of Nikolayev, Nikolayev shipyard.

As the largest shipyard in the Soviet Union, Nikolayev shipyard has a unique advantage. Compared with St. Petersburg, it is not open here, which is conducive to confidentiality. The climate in the Black Sea area is relatively pleasant. Even in the coldest January, the temperature will not reach below zero, but the cold wind blowing from the north is a bit tough.

Since the first generation of Moscow-class helicopter aircraft carrier was built here, Nikolayev Shipyard has accumulated rich experience in the manufacturing of large warships. Now, with the construction of the second generation of 1143 anti-submarine cruisers, Nikolayev Shipyard has entered its most glorious era.

On July 21, 1970, the construction of the No. 01 ship "Kiev" started. On December 26, 1972, the "Kiev" was launched. On the same day, the Black Sea Shipyard began to build the No. 02 ship of the same level - the "Minsk".

In 1975, the Kiev started the sea trial, and after launching in 1975, the Minsk was able to complete the sea trial in 1977 and entered service in 1978.

But now, the situation has changed a lot. Due to the war in the Far East, the Minsk boarded the ship again and underwent an operation when the sea trial was almost over.

Feeling the cold wind from the north, Andrei, who came from Moscow, stood on the platform of the Black Sea Shipyard with Marshal Gorshkov and others.

At this time, it was already 78 years. Just after New Year's Day, Andre came here before he was about to take office in the Far East Military Region.

"Our experience in the Far East last year confirmed that the Jacques 36 could not meet the mission of our navy's maritime escort and seizing air supremacy." Gorshkov is now familiar with Andre as if he is a good friend. Although he is a few decades apart in age, when he thinks of his experience last year, Gorshkov is also extremely moved.

If Andrei had not been involved, then the Minsk would still be mainly equipped with the Jacques 36, and the No. 3 and No. 4 were also equipped with the same configuration.

Now, the facts have proved that Jacques 36 is purely useless. After many discussions, the Soviet carrier-based aviation finally ushered in a new era of ski jumping and taking off fixed-wing aircraft!

The Minsk in front of me can no longer be changed, so it is almost the same as the Kiev that Andre saw, but it has begun to rise at the first position of the oblique deck. Just like the jump deck that Andre fooled the Americans and deliberately used scaffolding, it is just that. This is a real jump deck made of special steel!

It looks even more inappropriate. The space in the first part has been wasted, and the huge anti-ship missile still exists. On the side, like the Invincible Class, a raised deck is extended.

"After we obtained the improvement suggestions from the Nevsky Design Bureau, we cut off a piece of the beveled deck of the aircraft carrier and re-welded it and jumped off the deck. At the same time, in order to withstand the impact of the landing of the carrier-based aircraft, we strengthened the entire flight deck." Yuri Ivanovich Makarov, chief engineer of the Black Sea Shipyard, introduced to the senior officials who came: "We can only modify this No. 2 ship in this way, and we have accumulated experience in improving the No. 1 ship when it was repaired. The upper floor of the No. 3 ship will be rebuilt."

Makarov! When he saw this somewhat obese chief engineer, Andre was still a little excited. In later generations, this guy's situation was very sad. The huge Soviet empire collapsed, and the Black Sea Shipyard became a motherless child from then on. In later generations, the entire shipyard became a rag. When this Makarov was dragged away, his heart died.

Now, the Soviets are still developing vigorously. In September 1976, Makarov was appointed as the chief engineer of the Black Sea Shipyard, and began his brilliant legendary life.

With his strong push, the Black Sea Shipyard adopted segmented construction, greatly accelerating the construction of warships and putting the Soviet aircraft carrier construction onto the fast lane.

Now, with Andre's intervention, the situation has changed again, and the Minsk has become different from the history. And when the upper level has not yet been installed, there are obviously more opportunities to re-model.

Ship No. 3? Looking at Ship No. 3 on the ship platform, Andre realized that it was indeed a big change. Unlike the oblique deck of this ship that acts as a leap deck, the bow of this ship No. 3 is upturned!

"According to the Nevsky Design Bureau's transformation documents, we have almost made major changes to the bow of the No. 3 ship. The bow of the No. 3 ship has a leap deck. At the same time, the departure area and the landing area will greatly facilitate deck operation." Makarov said: "This has a great impact on our construction progress, but we are working overtime to strive to complete the task as planned."

Compared to the No. 2 ship, which only renovated the angled deck, Andrei was obviously more interested in the No. 3 ship, so, accompanied by Marshal Gorshkov and others, Andrei stepped on the No. 3 ship.

The island is still very large, but all the messy things on the bow of the ship are gone. The flat deck at the back and the leap deck at the front give Andre the impression that this is the same as the later Indian sucker who picked up the Gorshkov aircraft carrier for nothing and then spent a sky-high price to modify it.

"This aircraft carrier is good!" Andrei said to Gorshkov: "Marson, our navy needs such an aircraft carrier! When our catapult is not yet in line, we temporarily adopt the method of ski jump takeoff, which is stronger than those Jacques-36s! But what is the opening below?"

After walking onto the deck, Andre discovered that there was an opening on the front deck. Although the steel plates were closely combined, you could still find something underneath.

"It's our anti-ship missile. In order to make room on the deck, we have placed the anti-ship missiles below." Makarov explained from the side.

Or anti-ship missiles! Andre was a little speechless in his heart. The most powerful force of an aircraft carrier is carrier-based aircraft! You have to free up every minute of space to load carrier-based aircraft! However, the Soviet Union held anti-ship missiles and refused to put them in. The space in front would definitely be wasted! If it was opened, it would be a hangar and it could be twice as many carrier-based aircraft!

However, anti-ship missiles are a tradition of the Soviet Navy. It takes time to make these people accept their views. Andrei knew that they were Marshal Gorshkov around him and was also a supporter of the missile.

After a few more wars, they will fully realize the powerful role of carrier-based aircraft, which will definitely change their views.

"If ship No. 1 and ship No. 2 are changed to ship No. 3, that would be the best!" Andrei sighed.

"That's more complicated than building a new aircraft carrier." Makarov instantly denied Andre's proposal.

Thinking of the later generations of Asan, Andrei knew that Makarov was right. The reason why Russia repeatedly raised the price was because modifications were really more complicated than new construction.
