Chapter 1130 Blizzard
War is just an extreme means to achieve certain political goals, and these are ultimately for economic services. What Iraq needs is not to confront the United States, but to seize the past few years and continue to develop itself. The 1990s was an era of rapid economic progress! When Iraq, when the entire Arab world truly became an economic power, it would be easy to solve the Israeli issue.
Confronting the United States aroused the Arab world's strong resentment to the United States, labeled itself as an anti-American person, and was recognized by the Arab world. Kusai was unwilling to do such an action.
Disputes and cooperation coexist, and everything is moving forward, developing your own national economy and improving the industrial level of the entire Arab world are the most urgent problems they need to solve.
For Iraq, at this stage, the most important thing is to digest and integrate the precious wealth left by the collapse of the Soviet Union! Of course, these precious wealth does not refer to money, but to personnel and technology.
With the ease of conflicts with the United States and the increase in cooperation, Iraq ushered in another stage of rapid development. This period is a peak period of rapid development for the United States, and isn’t it the same for Iraq?
For Iraq, this change is absolutely no exaggeration to describe it as earth-shaking.
In March 1995, in southern Iraq, Arab Space Company.
Here, a large launch frame was newly built. Of course, this launch frame was not developed by the Arab Space Company itself. It was transferred from the Baikonur Space Center in Kazakhstan. However, before the transfer, this launch frame had never been used, just like the brand new one.
This launcher is specially made. Three such large launchers were created at the beginning. They were just used to launch something, which was the Blizzard space shuttle!
The Blizzard space shuttle is a masterpiece of the Soviet space program. Its birth is extremely brilliant, but its ending is on the verge of being almost abandoned, just like the Soviet Union that had broken the building.
In the history of human exploration of the universe, it is divided into two systems: unmanned spacecraft and manned spacecraft. The manned spacecraft technology is now mastered by the United States and Russia. The difference is that the United States is now using space shuttles, while Russia is still using spacecraft.
The two are equivalent to two generation differences. The spacecraft is sitting on the top of the launch vehicle. It is launched into space like a launch satellite, and after entering the atmosphere, it is recycled by parachutes like a return satellite. This method will not have too much load. For example, the Soyuz spacecraft is the working mechanism of the trio.
The space shuttle is different. The space shuttle is more like an airplane. It is a living space of seven people in front and a cargo hold in the middle. It can launch satellites or use a robotic arm to recycle the faulty satellite into the cargo hold. Then, after space maintenance, it will be launched in space. In this way, the faulty satellite will be resurrected, with a huge effect.
For example, the Hubble Space Telescope was discovered after it entered the sky, causing the huge space telescope to be unusable. The space shuttle used this method to successfully repair the telescope.
In this regard, Russia is behind, but Russia, which has inherited the Soviet legacy, is still at the forefront of the space station. The Mir space station has been wandering in space for more than ten years. Basically, each working group needs to stay on it for half a year. Several of the astronauts were Soviets before they entered the sky. After they came down, they were surprised to find that they had become Russians.
It is already very good that Russia can launch two spacecraft every year to maintain the normal operation of the Mir space station. It is simply impossible to invest more funds to continue the Soviet-era space shuttle project, namely the snowstorm project.
The Soviet Union was not later than the United States. Since the 1960s, there has been a spiral project to conduct pre-research on space aircraft. The MiG-105 verification aircraft developed by the Migoyan Design Bureau conducted multiple test flights, several ups and downs. Finally, in the mid-1970s, after the United States began to develop the space shuttle, the Soviet Union began the space shuttle development plan based on the policy that the United States had to have. They gathered some technicians engaged in the spiral project of the Migoyan Design Bureau, as well as some engineers from the design bureaus such as Mornia, Miyasishev, and formed the newly established Molnia Consortium, which was fully responsible for the development of the Blizzard space shuttle. The supporting launch vehicle was developed by the Southern Machinery Manufacturing Factory in Ukraine.
In order to transport this big guy, Antonov Design Bureau designed the largest transport aircraft on the earth, the An-225 Dream Transport aircraft, which can fly the Blizzard camel on its back.
Investing nearly 10 billion rubles, finally in 1988, the Blizzard space shuttle conducted its only unmanned test flight, achieving a successful success. After that, it was shelved in the deteriorating economy in the gradually turbulent politics of the Soviet Union.
The Blizzard space shuttle has a very similar appearance to the US space shuttle. Its fuselage is 40 meters long and 16 meters high, with a fuselage diameter of 5.6 meters, a wingspan of 24 meters, a payload cargo hold diameter of 4.7 meters and a 18.3 meters long. It can send 30 tons of load into low orbit, and can transport 20 tons of cargo. The crew compartment has a capacity of 70 cubic meters, which can be used by 2 to 4 astronauts. There are 6 seats for crew members. In addition to the captain and pilot, there are 2 satellite repair personnel, 1 robot operator, and 2 to 3 scientific researchers. The total take-off weight of the entire aircraft is 105 tons and the landing weight is 82 tons.
If such a thing is abandoned, it will eventually disappear from people's sight due to the collapse of the factory. Only the last one is left, which was bought by the Germans for exhibition. Its fate is very sad, and at the same time, it is something that Kusai doesn't want to see.
Therefore, when Russia is now in a hurry to lack funds, their space program has stopped. Last year, they could not even afford the Soyuz spacecraft. Therefore, the Mir space station had to be temporarily sealed and became an uninhabited heavenly palace.
Russia knew that in the past decade, their space program would not receive much funding, so it finally agreed to Iraq's request. Iraq invested $2 billion to fully take over the project, and the project was moved back to the Arab Space Company, including the technicians of the entire Molnia Consortium, and packaged it back to Iraq.
Everyone was happy with this transaction. For Russia, this 2 billion US dollars is definitely not a small number. It means that many of Yeliti's reform plans can be continued.
Now Yeliti has been shattered from his initial fantasy of the West. He already knows that if Russia wants to cheer up again, the West is not reliable, but can only rely on himself. It is not necessary to sell what is now, and if it is re-activated in the future, it is already outdated in exchange for the funds they urgently need.
Iraq has purchased a lot of things from Russia, such as Su-27K fighter jets, and ordered a batch of new ones, twenty-four ones. The Sukhoi Design Bureau has been operating normally. If it weren't for foreign arms sales, then Russia would have gone bankrupt long ago.
When the Soviet Union was developing this project, it had already invested 10 billion US dollars. Now Iraq only took over for 2 billion US dollars, which was completely a bargain. You must know that the value of this to Iraq's aerospace industry is immeasurable.
If Iraq wants to reach the sky in one step, it is absolutely impossible. It can only rely on external technology. At this time, taking over this stagnant snowstorm project will allow Iraq's aerospace industry to develop more rapidly.
Now, Iraq's aerospace project can launch near-Earth satellites. This is almost entirely the result of Iraq's independent development. The liquid rocket developed based on the Dongfeng-3, but its thrust is limited. Its role in Iraq is to allow them to complete the path from imitation to self-made. The experience accumulated in this area is a valuable asset that no one can give.
At the same time, based on the solid Rsd-10 pioneer missile, Iraq successfully obtained a solid intercontinental ballistic missile by increasing its range, which gave Iraq its own killer weapon. For Iraq, its significance is even more important. If it weren't for the emergence of this missile, it would not be able to effectively deal with the United States' nuclear deterrence.
Before the collapse of the Soviet Union, Iraq had only these two systems. However, after that, Iraq's technology made greater progress. They welcomed many rocket experts, almost all from the Southern Machinery Manufacturing Factory in Ukraine.
Southern Machinery Manufacturing Factory is a famous rocket base in the Soviet Union. The carrier rockets such as "Hurtington-2", "Hurdling-3", and "Zeon" were all produced by the factory. However, now the Soviet Union is gone, and the manufacturing of these rockets has become single-digit numbers, or even 0. This has led to the difficulty of survival of this manufacturer and the loss of a large number of technical personnel. Some of these experts, some of whom have arrived in China, were mostly poached by Iraq.
The scale of Arab Space Company has expanded dramatically. Now, they have finally ushered in their most important project, the first flight of the Blizzard space shuttle!
If we are fundamentally speaking, this aircraft is not entirely produced in Iraq. It is a few subsequent aircraft that were not completed in the Soviet era. (To be continued. Please search for Astronomy, novels are better, updated and faster!)
