Chapter 976 The Red Square Incident (1)

In the workshop, there was a busy scene, and the huge antenna was slowly being hoisted. The most expensive components in the entire early warning machine, besides the central computer, are probably this antenna.

Inside the radome, there are three t/r antenna arrays that have been installed, each responsible for their own 120-degree regional targets.

Watching the antenna slowly lifting and finally stabilized on the base, then on weekdays, the staff began to tighten the bolts on it and connect various circuits.

"We have conducted a complete wind tunnel experiment. After the radome is installed, the impact on the aircraft's flight performance is very small." said the engineer in charge of the assembly of Saber.

The Iraqi person in charge nodded and said, "Yes, I also believe that it will fly smoothly. Our radome, which uses liquid cooling method, is also a very correct choice."

Because the radar antenna has a large transmit power, the thermal power is also very high. Since the Ericsson Eye is a balance beam, it is made into a hollow bamboo pole. During the flight, air-cooling can be used. However, the number of t/r components of the Ericsson Eye is three times that of the balance beam, and the power is also quite high. It must be liquid-cooled.

The Soviets were helpless about Iraq's use of the Il-76 as a platform to modify the early warning aircraft. Because the Soviet A-50 early warning aircraft was advanced at this time and they had just equipped the troops, it was definitely strictly prohibited from exporting equipment. However, Iraq did not look down on the Tu-126 early warning aircraft. The Soviet Union defaulted on Iraq's modification of the transport aircraft, but did not provide any form of technical support. All improvements were required to be carried out by themselves.

After the antenna was hoisted, the internal equipment was also being installed one after another. Ericsson successfully developed active phased array radar technology, but he was not familiar with the processing of later signals, especially on-board arrangements. If there is no skillful signal processing method, the signal measured by the Red Square Event (I) may be submerged in clutter. In this regard, it is the strength of British Aerospace. The internal main computers, consoles and other equipment were developed by Aerospace and Ousheng. At this time, Ousheng had rich experience in the research and development of electronics. The latest LCD monitor produced by Ousheng was also used on the internal control console. In addition to these equipment, there is also a meteorological radar installed in front, a radar used for navigation and map surveying and mapping under the head of the aircraft, as well as data links, electronic warfare equipment, etc. All system integration work was carried out at Saab.

Iraq's advanced early warning aircraft finally began to be ready. Conservatively estimated that after two or three years of test flights, various problems such as electromagnetic compatibility could be overcome, and in the early 1990s, Iraq would enter the Iraqi Air Force for service. At that time, Iraq would need to be equipped with at least six to ten large early warning aircraft such as this.

In later generations, due to the lack of installed objects, the Ericsson Eye project progressed slowly. It was not until the mid-1990s that it entered Brazil in South America and finally achieved its goal. Now, the early warning machine for this situation has entered its peak period in advance. In this regard, Iraq has even surpassed the United States.

As Iraq's early warning aircraft project is progressing smoothly, other cooperation projects between Iraq and Sweden are also underway, the most important of which is the Active Sky Flash Missile and AIP System.

Active Sky Flash means changing the seeker of Iraq's current sky flash missile to an active radar seeker. Compared with the current passive seeker, its seeker can emit radar waves. Therefore, it does not require radar illumination of the carrier aircraft and can also attack the target. Although it is limited by the antenna size of the radar, the power is very small and can only be guided at a distance of about 20 kilometers, this can also allow the carrier aircraft to leave the battlefield early in the final stage or turn to attack the next batch of targets, which is very practical. Now, this missile has entered the stage of live-fire target shooting. After experiments have exposed the problems and improved, it can be successfully finalized and entered small batch production. Moreover, on this basis, Saber Company proposed a new active missile project with a ramjet to increase the range to 100 kilometers, which has attracted the attention of Iraq.

On the other hand, the AIP system technology has begun to mature. After further investigation, Iraqi naval personnel decided to order a system like this and install it on an Iraqi Tr-1700 submarine. The modification was carried out in Iraq's own shipyard. The submarine was cut and the AIP system section was added. After the trial sailing of six to one year, the effect was evaluated, and then the other three were modified in the same way. Consider, if it was fully applicable and safe, purchase a new specially designed AIP system from Sweden, and the Swedes named them the Gotland class.

When designing this system in Sweden, it can be used to modify existing diesel-electric submarines. Due to the high-strength use, the batteries of the first two tr-1700 submarines have become a bit aging. This time, the batteries can be replaced by the modification. This time, the modification has also been helped by German experts.

In 1987, the world was still moving forward in the rolling historical trend. In areas not affected by the butterfly effect of Kusai traveling, everything was still developing according to the original historical trajectory.

The sky is clear and cloudless, and it is a good weather to fly. At the Helsinki Airport in Finland, a 19-year-old Federal Germany boy, amateur flight enthusiast, Mathias Rust, is making the final preparations before taking off.

Rust loves flying and is a member of the Hamburg Aviation Club in the Federal Germany. This time, he followed the club from the Hamburg Port in the Federal Germany to the Icelandic capital Reykjavik, and then to Bergen, Norway and Helsinki, the capital of Finland. So far, his flight record time is less than 40 hours.

Rust has liked the blue sky since he was a child. He learned to fly planes when he was very young. This is thanks to his father, because his father is an aircraft dealer, and his main product is the "Cessna" light single-engine sports aircraft. He has been exposed to various knowledge about flights since he was a child. However, according to his current experience, he can only be a rookie among the rookies.

However, Rust's ambition was very great. When he was a child, he wanted to do some feats to make the whole world remember his name. Therefore, flying a plane through the Arc de Triomphe in Paris or landing on Red Square was his two goals. However, the plane through the Arc de Triomphe has been taken first by others. Therefore, if you want to make him famous, then the latter approach is a very constructive idea.

During the Cold War, the East and West were in a serious confrontation. At this time, flying a plane and becoming the first person to land on the Red Square will definitely attract the attention of the whole world. Of course, the purpose of his doing this was to bring the friendship between the Western Europeans to the Soviets.

For this flight, Rust made a lot of preparations. His plane was just a single-engine small sport aircraft. The air time was limited and the range was not enough. So he did it himself and removed all unnecessary equipment to reduce the weight of the plane. He also removed only one of the seats inside.

This type of aircraft has a range of 1,000 kilometers at an altitude of 2,500 meters, but most of the altitude of his flight this time will be around 30 meters, so the fuel is definitely not enough. He deliberately added an additional set of fuel tanks to meet the needs of this flight.

Today, the opportunity finally comes.

"Helsinki, novices 172 requested to take off." Rust shouted in the radio, novices 172, which is his radio code.

"You can go to the speed, I wish you good luck, a rookie." The sound of the tower came from the radio.

Rookie? His name will soon be heard all over the world. Rust performed sixteen actions according to the training requirements and started the engine.

The propeller in front was turning faster and faster. Finally, it was running normally. He turned off the stop brake in front, and then the small Cessna plane began to slide on the runway.

This aircraft is simple to operate, easy to use, and has stable flight performance. It is used by many aviation schools as a junior trainer to train pilots.

The plane was like a light swallow, slid to one-third of the runway, and had already pulled up the nose and flew into the air.

Looking down at the earth from the air, all the scenery is so beautiful. This is also the reason why many people like to fly.

This was just an ordinary training flight by a rookie pilot. The traffic control personnel on the tower glanced at the light spot and stopped caring about him.

But who knew that the plane had only been flying for a few minutes and then the highlights of the plane quickly disappeared.

"Rookie 172, please answer when you receive it."

"Rookie 172, please answer when you receive it."

There was no reply, and no call for help was received.

Oops, this rookie must have fallen into the sea by flying alone. According to the principle of emergency search and rescue, they immediately contacted the military. The military urgently sent 3 helicopters, 4 warships and 17 divers to search and rescue the sea with oil traces, but found nothing.

This young man might have been eaten by a shark.

The news came back to Rust's home. His parents were heartbroken. Just last night, they received a call from Rust. The flight training ended the day after tomorrow and they were able to return home. However, unexpectedly, something unexpected happened!!!
