Chapter 1224 Defence Zone Division

There is a small village two kilometers away, and the headquarters of the Guards Division is located in the original village Soviet house. Outside this house made of logs, several jeeps and trucks are parked, all covered with green camouflage nets.
There were sentries standing guard at the door. When he saw a convoy parked in front of the house and several officers came out of the second jeep, one of whom was a major general and the other was a colonel, he quickly shouted into the open door: "Comrade Lieutenant, please come out."
As he shouted, a second lieutenant in a brand new military uniform appeared at the door. Seeing Sokov and Koida standing next to the car, he hurriedly stepped forward and raised his hand to salute, and then asked, "Two commanders, comrades, don't know which part of you are?"
"Comrade Second Lieutenant, please report to your division commander: the commander of the 188th Division of the 27th Army has arrived."
When the second lieutenant heard the post reported by Sokov, hesitated for a moment, and then said, "Comrade Commander is very busy at this moment, I'm afraid I can't come out to greet you. Please come with me."
When he walked into the command center, Sokov saw a bald general standing by the table with two colonels, bent down to study something. The lieutenant who led the way quickly stepped forward to report: "Report to the commander of the division, the commander of the 188th Infantry Division is here."
The bald general heard the lieutenant's voice and turned his head to look back. After seeing Sokov and Koida standing not far away, he asked casually: "How many people are there in your troops, and when will they enter the defensive position?"
Koida's face changed suddenly when he was about to go forward to argue, but Sokov was pulled by him. Seeing Sokov shook his head gently at him, he obediently closed his mouth.
Sokov took a step forward and said neither humbly nor arrogantly: "Comrade General, I brought more than 8,000 infantry divisions, who are well-trained and well-equipped. Before deploying them into the defensive position, I must first figure out what kind of enemy I will face in the next battle."
The reason why the bald general gave orders to Sokov like his superiors was entirely because he saw that the other party was too young. According to his idea, although he and the other party were both major generals, he was the commander of the Guard Division, and the other party was just the commander of an ordinary infantry division, so he should obey his command.
He said impatiently: "After my division fought yesterday, there were only less than three thousand men left. I plan to transfer the 233rd and 235th Guards to the position of the 238th Regiment, and your troops will take over the defense of the positions they have vacant. How about it, are there any difficulties?"
Sokov walked to the table, looked down at the map on the table, and found that if the Guards Division had contracted all its forces, the front of the defense he took over would be seven kilometers wide, while the area where the opponent was defending was less than two kilometers. Koida also discovered this problem and couldn't help but look angry on his face.
"Comrade General," Sokov continued to ask, "I would like to ask, are there solid fortifications in the defensive area you gave up, and is it a complete defense system?"
"There must be a defensive position," said the bald general in an uncertain tone. "But I don't know what the specific situation there is. You know, my troops are only two hours earlier than you, and I don't have time to understand the situation there."
"General Sokov," just as Sokov was about to ask the bald general if he could send someone as a guide and take him there for a field survey, a surprise voice came from behind him: "Why are you here?"
When Sokov turned around, he saw clearly that the liaison officer sent by Klitschko, and replied with a smile: "Comrade Liaison officer, I am worried that the enemy's offensive will be very fierce today, so I came here to take a look."
"Contact Officer," the bald general couldn't help but ask curiously: "Who is he?"
"General Malankin," he heard the bald general's question, and the contact officer showed an unexpected expression on his face. He asked in surprise: "Don't you know that this is Major General Sokov, the commander of the 27th Army?"
"What, is he Major General Sokov, commander of the 27th Army?" After learning of Sokov's identity, the bald general was startled. He quickly straightened his body and saluted Sokov: "Hello, Comrade Commander, I am Major General Malankin, the commander of the 81st Division of the Guards. Please forgive me for not recognizing you just now."
"Comrade General," Sokov knew that he was young, and as long as he did not indicate his identity, it was common to be looked down upon by others. He did not take it to heart, but instead asked Malankin politely: "I wonder if you can send someone to guide Colonel Koida and take him there to see the terrain?"
"Okay, Comrade Commander." Malankin turned to his chief of staff, the colonel with a little gray hair standing beside him: "Chief of staff, find two staff members familiar with the terrain as guides and take Colonel Koida to check the terrain."
"Comrade Commander," said the Chief of Staff cautiously: "I think I'd better go there myself, and I will supervise the handover of defense."
"Comrade Chief of Staff, this is not possible. You still need to stay here to assist the division commander in the work." Another colonel smiled and said, "I think it's better to leave this matter to me, the political commissar to complete it."
After the division political commissar left with Colonel Koida, Malankin once again said to his chief of staff: "Comrade Chief of Staff, let General Sokov introduce the enemy situation we have in charge."
The chief of staff of the division agreed and began to introduce the situation to Sokov: "Comrade General, according to our reconnaissance, what we are facing now is the 114th Armored Grenadier Regiment of the 6th Armored Division of the German Army, the first and second battalions that will launch an attack on us. The first battalion is motorized equipment, with three infantry companies and one heavy weapon company. The second battalion is still three infantry companies and one heavy weapon company. They are still motorized equipment, but they are also equipped with a certain number of armored vehicles."
Through the explanation of the Chief of Staff of the Division, Sokov discovered that the 188th Division troops were stationed, and they were about to face the attacks of the Second German Battalion and the First Battalion and the One Battalion. After the other party finished speaking, he continued to ask: "Where is the enemy's tank?"
Hearing Sokov's question, the chief of staff of the division couldn't help but look up at Malankin, the muscles on his face twitched twice, and then said: "The first battalion of the enemy's 11th Armored Regiment is deployed behind the second battalion. They have three light tank companies and a medium tank company. According to our judgment, they try to cooperate with the SS on the left wing to attack the 305th Infantry Division on the right wing of our unit."
Sokov stared at the map and began to think about it. Judging from the positions handed over to him by friendly forces, in the next battle, the 188th Division will face the enemy's Second Infantry Battalion and Part 1 of the First Battalion, as well as an ominous armored battalion. It seems that this is a bad battle.
Seeing Sokov staring at the map and not speaking, Malankin couldn't help feeling a little nervous, so he said tentatively: "General Sokov, if you have any difficulties, please come forward and we will discuss again how to allocate the defensive areas."
