Chapter 22 Old Love Unraveled
Arthur pointed out an almost impossible way out for Isaac's army.
"The sea tribes will not let us roam behind them, and the imperial family will not let an army against him be under their noses." Jennings did not believe Arthur's suggestion at all.
"If the imperial family had naturally not been able to tolerate us in the past, but now the sea clan is the biggest enemy of the empire. At this time, the imperial family would be infamous for civil war."
Jennings snorted, "You are too young, what is your reputation in the face of interests?"
"Of course the reputation is unreliable. What if an army of 100,000 people came to the door on its own initiative?"
"You are going to let us surrender to the Imperial Army?" Jennings looked at Arthur in surprise.
"His Majesty Strech just does not recognize Grantham's position as emperor and does not rebel against the empire. Therefore, we are not called surrendering to the empire, but temporarily surrendering."
"If you don't want your title and territory, you can use this to explain to His Majesty Strech."
But Arthur smiled sly and said quietly: "If you have the opportunity to plant your own army near the imperial capital, what do you think Your Majesty would choose?"
"Pretending to defect?" Jennings understood what Arthur meant.
Arthur nodded.
Jennings pondered for a while but still shook his head, "Even if you can pass His Majesty's level, you can't pass the Emperor's level. Even if the imperial family agrees to accept us, we will break up our warriors and reorganize them."
"Although the Emperor and Empress are in power behind the scenes, most of the military power is in the hands of Prince Galah. If the prince agrees to take us in, I am afraid that the Emperor and Empress cannot openly object to it."
Jennings said in a playful tone: "Can Count Arthur convince Prince Gallach?"
"I am 80% sure that Prince Galah agrees to take us in. I can have someone write a letter to the prince. The Marquis can make a decision after seeing Prince Galah's official reply."
Marquis Jennings looked into Arthur's eyes and found that he was not joking with him.
Jennings suddenly stepped forward and grabbed Arthur's wrist, "If this matter is done, you not only gave 50,000 soldiers a way out, but also did a big thing for His Majesty. I will definitely recommend you to His Majesty as a marquis!"
"There is no need to worry about the title of a marquis. I just want to tell me one thing by Lord Marquis?"
Jennings was stunned, "What's the matter?"
"What happened after Commander Cairns took Loffitis back to the Grand Duke's Mansion?"
Jennings glanced at Aretha, who had not spoken, sighed and said, "So many years have passed, and my second brother is gone. Why are you talking about the past?"
Aretha said in a sad tone: "Although things have passed, the knot in his heart has not been untied."
Jennings hesitated and still didn't speak.
"Did this matter make the Marquis difficult? If so, I will find someone else. Hillow and the ancient Roland family must have known about that incident back then." Arthur said and pulled Aretha to leave.
Jennings sighed again, "Since you have to know, I will tell you some of the things you know."
Arthur and Aretha turned back.
"The Hillo family and the ancient Roland family have been married for several generations. My second brother and Lofetis have been engaged since childhood. Lofetis has been weak since childhood and cannot practice fighting spirit and magic. He is a noble lady who has been raised in the boudoir since childhood. However, my second brother Cairns is a genius in martial arts. He is used to going abroad and has become wild. He doesn't like the noble lady at all. But Lofetis is very infatuated with my second brother, and even travels thousands of miles to Huaores City to find him."
"After my second brother took Lofitis back to the Grand Duke's Mansion, everyone thought he had changed his mind. My father also specially invited the Marquis of Ancient Roland, and the two discussed the date of marriage at the banquet. Unexpectedly, my second brother publicly broke the engagement in front of everyone at the banquet, saying that he had married Miss Aretha." When Jennings said this, he glanced at Aretha and found that her eyes were red.
"My second brother was too impulsive in this matter. He publicly broke the engagement at the banquet, so where did the Marquis of Guroland be left? My father was furious on the spot and said that if he dared to break off the engagement, he would cut off the relationship between father and son and get out of the Grand Duke's Mansion forever. My second brother was also determined enough to salute his father and Marquis of Guroland and then turn around and leave. He has never returned to the Grand Duke's Mansion since then."
Two lines of tears flowed out of Aretha's eyes uncontrollably, and Aretha turned around and ran out of the camp.
Jennings shook his head and sighed, "It's also a woman who is deeply in love!"
Arthur was the only one left in the camp, and he still had questions, "What happened to Lofitis afterward?"
"The one who was most hurt at that banquet was actually Lofitis. She was also a passionate woman. She was publicly resigned from the engagement at the banquet. On the one hand, she was completely discouraged by my second brother, and on the other hand, she would inevitably become a laughing stock in the circle of ladies and ladies. How could she withstand this double blow, and after she returned, she chose to hang herself."
"Ah!" Arthur was shocked, not expecting that this woman was so decisive.
"The second brother who had left the royal city at that time did not know about this. Because of Lofitis' death, the Marquis of Ancient Roland has been resentful of this after so many years. My father has never forgiven his second brother because of this."
Aretha was not the only one who was injured in this incident. Cairns later went to the Norman Kingdom and did not find Aretha, and his beard began to remain since then.
Arthur didn't speak for a long time. For the sake of the word "love", there were countless infatuated men and women like the three of them in the world.
Arthur saluted Jennings solemnly, "Thank you to the Marquis for telling me the truth back then. My master's wife's knot should have been untied today. Next, I will find a way to contact Prince Gallach. I hope that before the prince replied, the Marquis will lead the army to the imperial capital. The northward we face, the less danger we face."
After Arthur said that, he wanted to turn around and say goodbye, but Jennings stopped him, "Earl Arthur is the leader of the younger generation of the kingdom. I and my father are very optimistic about you. The family officially discussed recruiting you into the family. Cody and Tiana and the younger generations rashly contacted you without the permission of the family, which led to some misunderstandings. The misunderstandings of the older generation have been made. Since my second brother gave you the surname of Hillow, you are considered a descendant of my second brother's lineage. I officially invite you to join the family on behalf of the Hillow family."
"Thanks to the Marquis and the Hillow family for their love. All my contacts with the Hillow family originated from the leader of the Keynes. The leader is gone, and I have returned to Hillow's surname back then. Even if we have been exhausted, we have been used to peeing outside since I was a child, I can't stand the rules of the wealthy families. If there are some disputes in the future, both parties will not look good." After Arthur said this, he bowed again and turned around and left the camp.
