Chapter 04 The Demon Bear with Human Face

Three teams of soldiers stood neatly on a slightly open snow field in the pine forest.

These soldiers are not old, each with a tall figure, a bright look, and a faint murderous aura between their eyebrows and eyes. They are all real soldiers and have experienced battles on the battlefield.

As Arthur's eyes swept across the soldiers' faces, the soldiers were also looking at the overly young squadron leader. Curious, disdainful or doubtful? No matter what these soldiers think, they will not show any of them on their faces due to military discipline.

Nick beside Arthur frowned, "Monkey, why are there so many people in your squadron?"

"Old Jose took three brothers to patrol, and the rest of the people at home are here."

"That number isn't the right number?"

Arthur then realized that there were only 21 soldiers in front of him. The standard infantry regiment organization was ten people in each squad, four sword and shield soldiers, four spear soldiers and two archers. One squadron was under the jurisdiction of three squadrons, including the squadron captain's full squadron, which was 31 people.

The monkey smiled, "Then please ask Captain Nick to go back and urge Commander Huge to replenish our squadron as soon as possible."

"Isn't the empty teacher letting ** eat empty jobs and drink wine?" A tall soldier in the third row suddenly spoke.

This made the soldiers present laugh.

"Everything is serious, Lund, I will convey your words to Captain Huge, just wait for the whip."

Lund chuckled, "Nick, don't report it, I'm joking."

Nick turned his head awkwardly and explained to Arthur: "Your squadron killed several brothers in battle a few months ago. Our conditions are difficult, and the soldiers are difficult to replenish. The recruits have not been able to replenish you."

Arthur nodded and said nothing.

Nick pointed to the tall soldier who was joking just now and introduced to Arthur: "Lend is the captain of the third team. You have seen monkey. He is the captain of the second team. Old Jose who led the team out to patrol is the captain of the first team. Before you came, Old Jose temporarily took over the position of squadron leader."

"I'll introduce it formally." Nick coughed lightly. Although he was not old, the majesty that the officer should have was not bad at all. "This is your new squadron leader, Arthur Hillo. Captain Arthur is a student of the Blood Ray Royal Academy. The fourth-level battle lieutenant, Captain Arthur will lead you to guard this steel line together."

The soldiers saluted Arthur in unison.

Arthur did not notice the playful gazes that appeared inadvertently in the eyes of several veterans. Arthur did not know what Hillo's surname and identity as a student at Xueyao Academy meant in the eyes of the soldiers.

"Next, Captain Arthur will give you a lecture."

Arthur raised his head slightly, and just as he was about to speak, a soldier staggered out of the woods.

"Not good, something happened!" Before the person could get close, he fell to the ground.

Before Nick and Arthur could speak, Monkey and Lund rushed over. The two worked together to help the soldiers up. There were three bloody wounds behind the soldiers that were almost visible to bones.

"Why are you back by yourself? Where is Captain Jose?" the monkey asked anxiously.

"The captain took us to get the human-faced demon bear's nest. The front was very smooth. We slaughtered the two little bears, but before we could transport them out, the two big bears came back early and blocked the captain and the others in the bear's hole. I was guarding outside, and the female bear ran back with the claw on the back." The soldier said intermittently.

"This old man, I have long told him not to fight that nest of demon bears. We can't afford to offend these two big beasts!" Lund stamped his feet in a hurry.

"Don't complain. If it weren't for the purpose of replenishing some meat for the brothers, could Lao He take this risk? You stay and I'll take a group of brothers to save him!"

Lund grabbed the monkey, "Monkey, don't be excited, it's too late to go there now. The two demon bears were killed. Bears must be crazy now. You went there and took your brothers to die!"

"Maybe it's still time. When I ran, the captain collapsed the entrance of the bear cave and buried himself in it." The soldier quickly added.

"Did you hear it? Lund, don't hold me, even if you die, you have to rescue Lao He!"

"You're fucking crazy. They're two level 4 monsters! Not to mention your team, even if our squadron is pulled up, it's just a little bit of fuel to add fuel to it!"

The monkey suddenly turned his head and looked at Arthur, "Captain, Lao He has been blocked by the demon bear. I have to take someone to save him no matter what!"

The soldiers' eyes turned to Arthur, and at this moment everyone realized that this decision should be given by the captain who had just taken office.

"You arrange the staff, I'll go with you." Arthur did not hesitate at all.

Arthur's answer was so refreshing that many people were surprised, because the level 4 monster was definitely not something that human warriors of the same level could deal with, let alone the monsters that broke out completely because of losing their son. Lund stopped the monkey not because he was afraid of death but because he was rational.

The monkey was also stunned, "Captain, you don't have to take risks, I just lead the team to save people."

"Old He is also my soldier. If you recognize me as the captain, I have the obligation to rescue him with you. Besides, letting you lead the team is to die. I may be able to add some hope to follow me. Even if I can't save Lao He, I can bring you back safely."

"Okay!" The monkey gritted his teeth and stood up.

"I'll go with you too, it's more powerful." Nick said from the side.

Arthur took Nick aside, "I've taken my heart. This is my squadron's business, I can solve it myself. You go back early, thank you for bringing me over, and even told me so much." Arthur said, taking out a few gold coins and secretly stuffing it into Nick's hand.

Nick glanced and pushed Arthur's hand away, "We are all brothers, we don't revive the same thing in your city. If we can rescue Lao He this time, you can invite me to have a drink next time we meet."

"Okay! Then I'm sure!" Arthur smiled knowingly. He didn't want to bribe Nick, but was used to the way Keynes dealt with the City Guards back then, but forgot that he was now a member of the army.

In the army, Arthur seemed to have found the atmosphere of the Blue Ape Mercenary Group. Getting along with these warriors was much more comfortable than being with his classmates from wealthy and noble families.

Hug's rudeness, directness, Nick's simplicity, and monkey's loyalty are all liked by Arthur for no other reason, because they present the most real and natural side of human nature, and only such people can become true friends.

When Arthur turned around, the monkey had already ordered 6 soldiers and was ready to set off immediately.

"Can that injured brother still take us there?"

"No need to lead the way, I know where the bear is nesting."

"Then let's go and meet those two human-faced demon bears!"
