Chapter 119, Looking back at Fujin Ferry with merit

Chapter 119, the merits look back at the Floating Ferry, the water of the Moor is embracing the fallen bridge of joy

"What does business investigation mean? I remember the first time I met you, I talked about the way to make money on the road. Do you want to do business with merchants?" Qingfeng's expression was a little curious, but he guessed it very accurately and hit the nail on the head.

Mei Zhenyi: "Yes, I need to make money, make a lot of money!"

Qingfeng asked back: "Are you still short of money?"

Mei Zhenyi sighed: "I am not short of money alone, but I lack money when digging the Tailao Spirit Realm in Donghuamen. With the experience of building the immortal cave heaven in Donghuamen, I may not be able to build a cave heaven in Qingyi Sanshan in the future, so I will need more money."

Qingfeng: "In the Immortal Cave Heaven, you can't cultivate it by just having money."

Mei Zhenyi: "The fairy boy is helped by the mountain god Green Snow. If you want to build the fairy cave heaven on Jingting Mountain, you can do nothing more. Just have that mountain. However, the world's practitioners are not as good as the fairy boy. They also need to have the essence of Dharma, teachers, couples, land and wealth in their practice. The magic power of the fairy must be the magic power of the fairy family, but pavilions, towers, gardens and medicinal fields still require manpower and material resources. If you have money to buy it, you can save a lot of effort."

Qingfeng asked again: "If you want to transcend the world, you should not be attracted by money and sex. You should understand in your heart, why do you think of making a lot of money again today?"

Mei Zhenyi replied: "I am taking things in the world according to worldly laws. I am not trying to force robbery, but just thinking about the way to be rich and prosperous. The so-called "not being hindered or not, whether there is or not, I am not being hindered. If you claim to be noble and not taking, you should take it, and you need to take it, and you can take it, but you don't take it, but you seem to be not being hindered by the 'nothing', but you are also being hindered by the 'existent' thoughts?"

Qingfeng nodded: "Yes, you can see clearly. Many people can't understand this principle even after practicing hard for a lifetime. They think they have seen through everything, but in fact they haven't seen through anything."

Mei Zhenyi smiled: "Fairy boy, although you don't talk much along the way. But every time you ask, it's very mysterious. When you're fine, ask me more?"

Qingfeng glanced at him and said lightly: "You want me to ask you? If you can't answer, don't blame me."

I had no more gossip along the way, so I walked forward across the Fujin Bridge and turned east along the south bank of the Yellow River. Not long after walking, Qingfeng suddenly stood on a high slope and looked back at Fujin Bridge.

Mei Zhenyi asked, "Why didn't the fairy boy leave? Are you very interested in this bridge?"

Qingfeng: "There is a master coming later. Let's wait and see the bridge first. Let's ask you, when you were in Wuzhou, the monk Sha ordered the land of the Liu family. The Liu family wanted to donate it to the Zen temple to think of merit, but you have to see it. How do you understand the word merit in this world?"

This question is too empty and ethereal, and it is really hard to answer. Mei Zhenyi pointed to the Fujin Bridge in the distance and said, "Did you see that bridge? With your and my cultivation, you have to cross the Yellow River and walk between steps, but it is difficult for people to cross the river. With the benefits of this bridge, it is much more convenient... In my opinion, building such a bridge is more merit than building such a temple." He did not answer directly what worldly merit is, but gave an example.

The breeze was not set, but a voice under the high slope said: "My fellow Taoist said this is a bad thing! Floating the world across the Yellow River through the Floating Bridge, and crossing the world over the Bodhi Dharma to the other side, are both merits! Building a temple to promote Buddhism, and bridges in the hearts of the world is also a merit."

Looking in the sound, a little monk walked under the river bank. The monk looked only sixteen or seven years old, with a little round face blushing and pink, and his expression was still childish. Qingfeng just said that there was an expert coming from behind. Could it be that this little monk?

He looked at Qingfeng again, and he was still standing there looking at Fujin Bridge without any response. The little monk had already walked up the slope. He was a little hot when he was rushing to walk, and he even reached out to wipe the sweat on his bald head. Mei Zhenyi saw the little monk's innocent appearance. He couldn't help but joke and tentatively ask, "My little master, setting up a temple to promote Buddhism. Being a bridge to the hearts is a merit. But why can't Wan Temple in the Southern Dynasty cure the troubled times?"

This sentence was very tricky. The little monk touched his forehead and thought for a long time before pointing at Fujin Bridge and asking, "Can this Fujin Bridge cure troubled times?"

Qingfeng did not look back on his back, but interrupted: "Little monk, you questioned him. Although what he said is good, he may not seem clever. He is a person who has not yet achieved the immortal path. You can say whatever you have."

The young monk sighed. His appearance was a bit pretentious, which made people smile. He only sighed: "Holding a temple may not be a temple for ferrying people. A monk entrusted himself to Buddhism and did not work hard to practice, and devoted himself to the world to worship. Even if there are few temples, there are few Dharma propaganda sites and many gardens. Buddhism can only pass people's hearts to the other side, but it cannot cure the chaos in the world that has not been ferried in the world. This is the fault of the world, and the fault of the monks is not the fault of the Buddhist teachings. It is like this bridge."

Qingfeng's tone eased: "Fellow Taoist, what's your name?"

The little monk: "The sea of suffering is endless and the law is used as a boat, and the law is used as a boat for me."

Mei Zhenyi stepped forward and bowed, "Fellow Daoist Fazhou, where are you going?"

The little monk Fazhou: "I went to Luoyang and happened to hear the two questions and answers. I couldn't help but say hello. I was tired from walking on the road, so I just took a rest." He relaxed his legs and sat down on the river bank, and asked again: "What do you call me, two fellow Taoists?"

Mei Zhenyi: "My surname is Lu at this time and my nickname is Chunyangzi. This is Qingfeng Boy."

Fazhou smiled: "The surname is Lu, right, right, right, that's great! I'm a Fazhou in this life." He sat down and rested, took off his bag from his shoulders, took out two steamed buns, and handed it to Mei Zhenyi: "You two have also rushed a long way, right? This fairy boy is not in the world, Master Lu will fill his stomach before talking about it."

The little monk had good eyesight and could see at first glance that Qingfeng was a fairy child who was not as good as the world's fireworks. Mei Zhenyi kept looking at Fazhou, but he didn't see that his ground was coming. Seeing that Fazhou handed over steamed buns, he did not refuse, sat down side by side, and started eating.

"Can Master Lu eat so deliciously with steamed buns?" Fa Zhou took out a piece of pickled cabbage from his bag, broke it half of it and handed it to Mei Zhenyi.

Mei Zhenyi: "Thank you for your steamed buns and vegetables, I'm going to tell you, I haven't eaten for more than half a month."

Fazhou opened his eyes wide and asked, "Then why did you eat again?" He didn't ask why Mei Zhenyi hadn't eaten for more than half a month, and probably saw that he was practicing fasting.

Mei Zhenyi chewed steamed buns while swallowing pickles, and replied vaguely: "You give it to me and I'll eat it. Besides, we also went to Luoyang, and the place was almost here... Thank you for your donation. When you arrive in Luoyang, where are you staying, and I will come to visit my fellow Taoists to discuss with you."

When Fazhou heard this, somehow sighed again and became frowning: "I went to Luoyang to receive the crime from the Empress Dowager, and I don't know if I have a chance to meet again."

"Receive the crime? A fellow Taoist is a Taoist monk. What crime will he commit?" Mei Zhenyi was very surprised. Even if he couldn't see through, he could guess that the little monk's Dharma boat was far above him. Even Qingfeng said in advance that he was a master. What crime would this innocent and cute little monk commit?

Dharma Zhou: "It's all about the entanglement of words, because of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva."

Qingfeng turned around, stared at Fazhou and asked, "Did you offend Guan Zizai?"

Dharma Zhou: "It was not that I offended Avalokitesvara, it was because Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva who offended Empress Wu."

"Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva offended Empress Dowager Wu, what's the matter?" Mei Zhenyi was shocked again.

Fazhou shook his head straight: "It's not that the Bodhisattva offended the Empress Dowager, but because of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. I offended Empress Dowager Wu, so the Empress Dowager issued an edict to ask me to go to Luoyang to receive the crime."

Qingfeng frowned: "Monkey Fazhou, can you please tell me clearly?"

This young monk, Dharma Zhou, preached the method of "Practice Deep Prajna" in Chang'an City. Because others are interesting, their teachings often make people laugh. Listen to the crowd, and they don't know which temple has robbed the limelight. This caused dissatisfaction among a group of monks in Chang'an City. In today's words, other monks came to form groups to smash the venue.

One day, when he was preaching, a monk next to him asked: "Dazhou, you will always call him Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. Nowadays, Empress Wu is also a Buddha worshiper. In your opinion, what about the imperial edict of Empress Wu, compared with what Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva said? If you are guilty, will the Bodhisattva cure your sins, or will the Queen Mother cure your sins?"

This sentence is obviously a trap. Fazhou accidentally got in. He replied on the spot: "If you want to practice Deep Prajna, you should follow the Bodhisattva's words."

When someone came back, he reported this to Luoyang, saying that Fazhou incited monks to resist the imperial edict in Chang'an. After hearing this, Empress Wu issued an edict: "What scripture does Fazhou recite on a daily basis? If you can recite this sutra, you will avoid the crime of disrespect. If you invite you to Luoyang to recite the sutra, if you cannot avoid it, please accept the crime yourself." So Fazhou came to Luoyang to collect the crime.

Fazhou explained the whole story with a frown, and said to Qingfeng: "This fairy boy, since you have asked, is there any way to save me?"

Qingfeng shook his head: "Since you have come to Luoyang to collect the crime, I have no choice."

Looking at the little monk's worried look, Mei Zhenyi patted his shoulder and said, "Fellow Daoist Fazhou, I have a way to help you."

Fazhou was stunned: "Even the fairy boy can do anything like this. Can Master Lu have any solutions?"

Mei Zhenyi smiled mysteriously: "The gods have no choice, it may not be that ordinary people have no choice. Monk, come over." He whispered in the ear of the Dharma Zhou, and finally patted his shoulder and said, "Just do it like this, you will most likely pass the test."

Fazhou frowned and opened his mouth, his expression was quite incredible. It took him a long time to ask, "Is this really OK?"

Mei Zhenyi: "Is it OK? I will only know after trying. If you don't try, you must be punished. If you try, you may be exempted from the crime and will not suffer any losses to you."

Fazhou shook his head: "What you taught me is not Buddhism."

Mei Zhenyi said angry and funny: "Of course it's not Buddhism, it's the trick of the artists in the martial arts world. If you want to talk about Buddhism, can I, a Taoist priest, compare to you with a monk?"

Fazhou still shook his head: "Mencius will not lie."

Mei Zhenyi punched him: "Who told you to lie? I am also a real person and don't tell lies!... You have been reading this these days. When you meet Empress Wu, you will answer truthfully. Isn't everything going to be done?"

This punch seemed to have woken up Fazhou. The little monk patted his forehead and said to himself, "This is really something you can try. Thank you for reminding me, Fazhou will say goodbye first!" He put on his leggings and carried a bag and stood up and left, running very fast under his feet.

Qingfeng suddenly laughed at Fazhou's back. The laughter almost scared Mei Zhenyi. He asked quickly: "Fairy boy, why are you laughing? I have never seen you laugh before. I asked you last time, but you said that things in this world are that funny?"

Qingfeng: "This little monk is not too pedantic, he is a little cute. He actually listened to your idea. Mei Zhenyi, you can't think of a way to make it enough for you, and I will never think of it."

Mei Zhenyi: "This is naturally, you are not me, you have never been in the world... The little monk left, let's hurry up too."

Mei Zhenyi and Qingfeng continued to rush their way, only a hundred miles away from Luoyang, and both of them were not in a hurry. Shi Shiran walked forward and arrived at a river in the afternoon, with a large town on the other side. There was a stone arch bridge on the river, which had collapsed and damaged due to disrepair. Pedestrians had to take a boat to cross the river.

They walked to the ferry and the boat had just reached the other side. While standing there waiting for the boat, several tourists around the ferry were pointing at the broken bridge and talking. One person said, "Young Master Zhou, don't look at this river and this bridge are not eye-catching, they are very famous in history."

Mr. Zhou asked: "Mr. Wu, what are the requirements for this river and this bridge?"

Mr. Wu said with a slight pride: "This river is called Haoshui. This bridge is called Luohuan Bridge. Have you heard of the allusion of "Zi Feiyu" in "Zhuangzi"? I remember that back then, Zhuangzi and Huizi watched fish on this bridge and asked questions..." He began to talk about this allusion in "Zhuangzi" and explained the mystery with a show of charm.

Mei Zhenyi frowned when she heard it. Mr. Wu had read ancient books and knew this allusion, but his explanation of "Zhuangzi" was really nonsense, and I don't know which gentleman taught me? At this time, he heard the voice of a woman next to him, saying, "Mr. Wu is really knowledgeable, I admire him so much!"

Another person next to him interrupted: "Miss Zheng, you don't know anything. Mr. Wu's knowledge is all about the words "fish" and "water". So remember clearly."

The young master Wu said with some dissatisfaction: "Prince Wang, I am clearly talking about the joy of like a fish, but are you going to talk about Miss Zheng about the joy of fish and water?"

Mei Zhenyi, who was listening, was secretly laughing, Qingfeng said lightly: "The boat is coming, let's go quickly." When she looked up, the ferry had already shook.

After crossing the river, I found that in the market not far from the bank, there were many people gathering at the bank of the town. They were holding pots, pans and other utensils. They were filled with water. These people were talking to each other while walking-

"Old Zhao, have you hit it?"

"It's so weird. The water has spilled over, but the little lady turned around and her shoes are not wet."

"Mr. Qian, you are so old and want to marry such a beautiful house. Can you bear it?"

"Old man Sun, are you embarrassed to say to me, isn't your wife fierce enough? She actually came to join in the fun?"

"Is it a good deed to repair bridges and roads a good deed? My old Li is here to accumulate merit today. Don't rob me of it. I will definitely take that little lady home."

Mei Zhenyi was confused when she heard this. What happened before? Is it a martial arts competition to recruit brides or a water-splashing festival? The other people who were ferrying on the same boat also heard these discussions. Mr. Zhou asked a stall vendor on the side of the road: "Uncle, what happened in this town? What are these people doing with basins and bowls?"

Seeing that Mr. Zhou was dressed in bright clothes and spoke politely, the vendor explained to him: "This man is from another place, you don't know that something strange happened in our town these two days."

Mei Zhenyi also listened carefully, and it turned out to be a strange thing! There is a bridge in this town called Luohuan Bridge. It is impossible to verify whether it is the legendary place where Zhuangzi and Huizi view fish and discuss the Tao. But this bridge is indeed an ancient bridge. I don’t know when it was built. For a hundred years, it has been a passage for residents of the town to travel west across the river.

About half a month ago, the bridge suddenly collapsed. Some people suggested that residents in the town raise funds to repair it, but the cost was too huge, and there were too few people willing to pay. There was a young master from a large family in the town. His uncle was an official in Luoyang and was very powerful and rich in the local area. Not only did he not donate money, he also built a boat to control the ferry and took the opportunity to collect money from merchants and local residents to cross the river, so the bridge could not be repaired.
