Chapter 8 Outpost Battle (Part 2)

"He is a real warrior." After the war, several Roman soldiers surrounded Misaro's unrecognizable corpse and exclaimed.

The ten thousand Armenian infantry behind did not dare to fight from beginning to end. They saw Misaro dead in battle, some of them scattered like birds and beasts, and disappeared from the mountains and fields. More people retreated automatically and ran to camp further away, waiting for the arrival of their main supporter of the King of Kings.

Secredirus also came to Misaro's body. At this time, Apis and his followers came down from the high ground next to them. They fisted each other and greeted each other, "Commander, you have successfully occupied Sofini, what is the next command of Governor Lukulas?"

"This is the end of my mission. The next step is probably to build a camp! Prepare to fight against the main force of the Armenians." Secretreus said, and ordered it. All the soldiers were crowded in a river that stretched across Sophine, splitting it into two. Even when twilight came, they still waved their pickaxes in their hands, dug ditches, and led the river water in to form a defense circle, and then set up camp within the circle.

This is the Roman war tradition. Once you decide to stay in a certain place, no matter how late you are, you must first repair the fortifications. This is a tradition established with countless failures and blood.

"Look at this brave young man, he is a real warrior, a real nobleman - clean his body and incense, I am willing to return him to Tegranis and make the last peace." Apis said, looking at Misaro's body.

"It's just my wish." Secredellus agreed.

At about night, Tegranis led two thousand guards, plus twenty thousand soldiers recruited from the Alex River basin, to the other side of Sofini, and saw the 10,000 soldiers who retreated in the vanguard battle, and also learned about the death of his favorite Misaro.

Tegranis was furious at first and executed seven chiefs who had been afraid of fighting. He blamed them for killing Misaro. Then he cried loudly, sometimes resenting Misaro for abandoning him, sometimes scolding the cruelty of the Romans.

Naisa, who was with the army, was urging her to drink, and she was also worried. Originally, Mitradati did ask her to seduce Tegranis and instigate Armenia to become enemies with the Romans. But along the way, the king of kings seemed to be considering the rekindling of her old love with her all day long, and was only concerned about drinking and having sex with her, and neither caring about military affairs nor listening to the advice of his subordinates. Even Naisa could not stand this decadence.

"My king, my aides have just made a suggestion to withdraw the 10,000 infantrymen to the rear of the entire team, because they had suffered a crushing defeat before, and were all frightened. If the Romans attacked, these people would only bring harm to the entire army." Nesa poured another glass of wine and persuaded him.

But Tegranis couldn't hear any advice at all, and she cried and scolded in anger until Apis returned Misaro's body. The king of kings forced himself to endure the grief and stared at the corpse of his young lover, but could not be too emotional in front of the enemy envoys and lost the dignity of the king. "My private friend Apis, how about Misaro's death?"

"He died like a true warrior, just like Hercules' reincarnation, and his death won the respect of all the soldiers of our army. Therefore, we washed his body with fragrant soup, inserted laurels into his shroud, and sent it back to you."

"I thank you privately for your kindness, but Apis, your public identity is an envoy of Rome, and you will not do it simply in private emotion."

Apis replied in a calm voice: "Please stop being enemies with our commander Lukulas. I have received reliable news from the Senate. Lukulas may soon be removed from the position of Governor of Silesia and commander of the Eastern Army. In other words, the war may soon stop, and you do not need to get involved again, and lose the lives of more loyal and lovely ministers like Misaro. I believe this is also the real reason why Misaro died."

Nesa became panicked when she heard Apis's words. She held her wine glass and watched Tegranis' reaction intently. The king of kings said in a dissatisfied tone: "No need? Didn't I beg for peace with the Romans at first?"

"Yes, you are indeed like this. Rome does need peace, but Rome only needs peace under its own leadership. You can continue to be the king of Armenia, but you may have to vassal the fathers of the Senate and hand over the prince as hostages." Although Apis' tone was harsh, it was full of sincerity.

"My king, Tegray, you are unwilling to shed more blood. This is kindness to the Romans, but these savages will not be grateful at all, so you must let them bleed and shed a lot to compensate for the blood of Saro." Nesa took the opportunity to instigate.

Tegranis had red eyes and was covered in alcohol, and punched the table with a punch, "That's right! If we stop the troops like this, wouldn't the King of Kings become the laughing stock of the world?"

Apis didn't say much. He just raised the hem of his robe, looked at Nesa coldly, and said to Tegranis: "Before leaving, make a small suggestion. A woman is bewitching the military formation. It will only bring you misfortune. Please allow me to say goodbye!" After Apis left, Tegranis cried bitterly at Misaro's body, and then drank heavily. He was drunk and unconscious, and was carried to bed by Nesa.

Over there, Apis, who was rushing to the rush, had returned to the barracks of Sekdelius. At this time, all the military horses of Lukulas did not stop at Karabi, but drove straight in and came here to meet with the advance team of Sekdelius.

In the head coach's tent, Lukulas listened to the report of today's combat officer. Apis came in and Lukulas immediately asked: "Tegrenis's preparation for the challenge, how do you think he is doing."

"Oh no, they actually put the defeated soldiers during the day in the front defensive position in the camp. As for the King of Kings, I found that his main camp was surrounded by a group of Arab herders and cavalrymen on guard." Apis replied.

The personal slave brought Lukulas a hot drink. Lukulas said thank you, then sat in a chair, put the hot drink beside his mouth, pondered for a long time, he was determined to start a battle, and finally ordered slowly and clearly:

"The Alliance assists the army to stay in the camp to defend, the Seventh Army ‘Baks’, and the 11th Army ‘Eight Eels’ all attacked;

Secredirus led all the cavalry and squeezed the enemy on the right wing; Pomponius led the central army and attacked head-on; Murila drew three brigades of troops from the Seventh Corps as the rangers on the left wing, and marched by the mountain pass beside Sophie, and then used a hundred-man team as a unit to scatter the attack and cut off the connections between the Armenian divisions;

At this time, Lukulas looked at Utaris, a senior centurion of the Third Regiment of the Sixth Battalion of the "Bakes" Legion, who also came to participate in the meeting. The expression full of eagerness to try was added: "Murila, your striking detachment will let Utaris's regiment be the elected striker, and they will rush to the front line."
