Chapter 1109 Statement

.In the near future, major manufacturers have been rushing to land. They have launched a large-scale construction of wafer fab Najiazhu. My father Fan Heng also expressed his concern and specifically contacted Fan Wubing to inquire about the situation.

"This is a good thing. It is lively and can solve many employment opportunities for the mainland. It also has a good promotion effect on cultivating skilled people." Fan Wubing said.

Fan Heng frowned and asked, "As far as I know, at least ten fab-related projects are planned to be built. Could it be that the fourth market really has such a large capacity?"

What Fan Heng is worried about is still a problem of market capacity. If so much investment and so many wafer factories can generate benefits, the key is whether it can generate benefits. After all, the biggest obstacle here is the Taiwan side’s restrictions on the investment quota of TSMC and other manufacturers. Because of this restriction, when Taiwanese manufacturers encounter funding obstacles, they can spread their hands and say very innocently, "You see, it's not that I don't have the money to invest in, but because of the restrictions on the island, the authorities on the island have restrictions, so we can't invest more funds."

Because of this reason, when this situation occurs, mainland manufacturers as joint ventures will inevitably need to solve the problem of funding gap, even as TSMC's announcement stated, they will build a wafer factory project wholly owned by themselves. But who can guarantee that there will be no sudden outbreak of a half-financing project due to funding problems?

Once this happens, what will the local government react? Should it continue to support it with capital investment, or leave it alone and leave it alone?

Considering these situations, Fan Heng had to ask his son for a closer question. After all, Fan Wubing is a real industry insider. The chip manufacturer under Fan's Investment Group is also a top-notch company in China, and it is the most popular in the limelight.

Fan Wubing was not easy to explain the interrogation of his father Fan Heng, so he just replied, "From the current situation, what everyone values is that the labor costs in the mainland are relatively low, even high-wage enterprises like Fan's. The production costs are much lower than those in Taiwan, so when their gross profit can reach 50%, our net profit can reach at least 70% or even more."

"Is the chip manufacturing industry so profitable?!" Fan Heng couldn't help but be surprised after hearing this.

What is the concept of 70% net profit and 50% gross profit? Fan Heng is obviously not difficult to understand, so he is so surprised. Of course, after he learned about this situation, he will also have a question, that is, once so many companies enter the mainland, can they still maintain such profitability?

"That depends on the market competition situation. Fan Wubing explained, "At present, the market demand is strong, but this is not absolute. After all, with the development of this market and the improvement of new wafer manufacturing technology, it is still difficult to judge how big the market of the eight-inch wafer factory is."

"You said this means you didn't say it." "nbsp;nbsp;" Fan Heng said after hearing this.

Fan Wubing shrugged and said, "The market is not clear at all, I am not a god."

Of course, Fan Heng asked Fan Wubing about this. That is, he was concerned. Although this was not his own area, he always needed to know some situations. After all, he was the executive vice premier and sometimes he often attended some events. If he didn't know about this, it would be a bit too out of date.

From the current perspective, Shandong is most enthusiastic about fab construction.

When industry insiders describe the layout of China's integrated circuit industry, a very vivid statement is the swallow-shaped layout. The Yangtze River Delta is the swallow head, the Bohai Rim region and the Pearl River Delta are double wings, and the west is the swallow-tail.

In this swallow-shaped layout, the Yangtze River Delta located at the head, including Shanghai, Jiangsu and Xijiang, has initially formed a complete four industrial chain including development, design, chip manufacturing, packaging and testing and services. The aggregation effect related to the industrial exhibition environment is highlighted here.

In the Pearl River Delta, the Bei design industry represented by companies such as ZTE, Huawei, Shenhu Guowei, and Zhuhai Juli is relatively strong. Relying on the huge market of the electronic information industry in the Pearl River Delta region, the integrated circuit industry in the Pearl River Delta has wings to take off.

However, compared with the overall industrial advantages of the Yangtze River Delta, the Bohai Bay region composed of Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Liaoning and Jean East is obviously just a geographical concept and cannot support a powerful wing. Even in Beijing, it has only some reputation.

Perhaps these reasons have aroused Shandong's ambition to lead the wafer industry in the Bohai Rim region.

However, without the appearance of Charoen Pokphand Group, Shandong's desire for wafer manufacturing can only stay in the conceptual stage. Everything they can do is wait, wait for technology, and wait for funds.

There are many well-known electronic product companies in Shandong, such as Haier, Hisense, Inspur, Aucma, Xiaoyu, etc., which are veritable electronic industry bases, but most of the chips needed by these companies rely on imports to solve them.

Although Fan's Investment Group also has its own wafer manufacturing base, its own demand is very large. In addition, Fan Wubing has not expanded its production capacity sharply, so the supply provided by Fan's cannot fully meet the needs of domestic electronic companies.

It is precisely because of this that Thailand Charoen Pokphand Group realized that this was a huge business opportunity. In order to make suggestions from relevant parties in Shandong, the two sides cooperated to build a wafer factory, but the two sides naturally hit it off.

Therefore, with interests as the link, a foreign-funded alliance was formed instantly. Taiwan Milu will be mainly responsible for providing support in integrated circuit design, production technology, etc. South Korea Hyundai will provide advanced production equipment, processes, technology and management, and Thailand Charoen Pokphand Group will provide part of the financial support.

However, even in Shandong, some experts do not have much hope that Qingdao will build an eight-inch wafer project. In their opinion, it is very difficult for Qingdao to make an eight-inch wafer.

Come

Now, eight-inch wafer projects in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and other places are in a loss-making state, and Qingdao cannot avoid repeating the same mistakes. The wafer projects have a high technical content and need a good industrial atmosphere, such as the connection between upstream and downstream industrial chains, which Qingdao does not have.

The wafer industry requires three factors: team, capital, and atmosphere. Qingdao has no advantages in these aspects, and is not as good as Jinan, because there is now a four-inch wafer factory under the Jinan Semiconductor Research Institute. There should be no problem with technicians who have trained six-inch ones.

In addition, wafer production requires a lot of nitrogen, which is available in steel plants. Jinan Hi-tech Zone is relatively broken because it is far from Jilin. It is easy to solve.

Although Qingdao is an electronic product base, these are not necessarily the natural customer base of Qingdao wafer fabs in the future, because in the end, these potential customers have to rely on the market to choose whose products, quality and price are the most fundamental. Qingdao wafer fabs cannot guarantee these two aspects, so they will definitely have comparative advantages.

According to this idea, another idea emerged in Shandong, that is, Jinan should also compete with Qingdao to develop its own wafer industry.

Such a conclusion is obviously a result of the competition for political achievements, but Jinan's ideas are also very strange. They believe that the trend of eight-inch wafers should not be rushed now, and should choose to use six-inch as a breakthrough according to the actual situation.

Experts in Jinan said that because Jinan now has a four-inch wafer production line in the economic development zone, the technology is very mature and can transition to six-inch relatively smoothly. According to their calculations, it is possible to buy an old six-inch wafer production line now, the cost is about 20 million yuan, and the six-inch wafer is still in market demand, which is very suitable for making in Jinan.

When Fan Wubing heard the news, his first feeling was that there must be something tricky here. This statement is more like public opinion propaganda in a certain action. How can a six-inch production line have more market prospects than an eight-inch one? This is simply nonsense. It is almost the same to deceive a layman who doesn’t understand, and it is simply untenable.

In fact, this is exactly what happened next.

There was once news that Jinan Hi-Tech Zone and Taiwan Huahui Holdings Co., Ltd. signed a $200 million agreement. Huahui wants to invest $200 million in the Hi-Tech Zone to build a wafer factory. The near-term goal is six inches and the vision is eight inches.

However, when the media talked about this matter with relevant people from Jinan Hi-Tech Zone, they were all secretive and refused to involve too much.

Fan Wubing was quite interested in this, so he asked Fan's people there to inquire carefully. Sure enough, some clues emerged. It turned out that a few young people learned that Jinan might have the idea of competing with Qingdao and wanted to start a wafer factory project. So they temporarily pieced together a fictitious company called Huahui and wanted to take over the business. According to the parties involved in Jinan, this group of people had a second-hand six-inch wafer production line in their hands and wanted to sell it to Jinan at a high price. The actual value could not be worth 200 million US dollars.

With such a large investment and a seriously asymptotically a production line, what's wrong with it? Obviously, you can tell if you don't ask.

In fact, based on more and more information, this time, both the policy side and the capital side, or the Taiwanese businessmen who actively cooperated to enter the mainland market, are all coming from the cause. Behind these major projects, there are some relatively large interest groups manipulating them, and there are also several yamen hidden behind the scenes to control the overall situation.

After Fan Wubing learned about this situation, he was even more reluctant to intervene. After all, a bachelor is not a good person, but a hero is easy to be a hero, and a sense of justice is never lacking. However, because of this little thing, it is really not worth it.

In fact, he is better able to understand the minds of these people because the term change is about to change. If he doesn't speak as he is now working and makes some money for retirement, his life will be difficult after he steps down. Now this era is the era of money. If he has no money in his hand, he will look down on him, especially those yamen are even more anxious. If the last bus can't catch up, there will be no hope for a happy life in the future.

In short, power cannot always be in your own hands, but money can truly benefit future generations. Everyone has already figured out this.

Fan Wubing has already considered it very clearly. Although major electronic companies are coming in full swing, they are still a little uneasy because they are not sure what actions Fan will do and what targeted actions they will do.

Some people have suspected that Fan has the ability to put twelve-inch wafer production technology into production, but it has been causing trouble. The main thing is to fully utilize the benefits of the eight-inch wafer production line. After all, it costs a lot of money to invest in a production line, and Fan Wubing cannot squander it.

However, Fan's Investment Group has never made a positive statement on this issue. The company's executives are even more secretive about this issue and refuse to make a clear statement, which has aroused the media's general doubts about Fan's Investment Group's latest technology. There are even many media speculations that Fan's technology is not as profound as they advertised. It is just the result of the exchange of interests with some foreign chip companies, which has the current eight-inch wafer production line.

Regarding this issue, Fan Wubing made some explanations when interviewing CCTV reporters. He said that Fan's Investment Group did not rely on technology exchange to achieve its current achievements. In the chip manufacturing industry, Fan's has its own independent intellectual property research team, and its design and production capacity are equally excellent. The eight-inch production line has achieved complete independent manufacturing.

Regarding the twelve-inch wafer production technology, he also said that his technical team has been working tirelessly for this. If there is good news, he will definitely report good news to everyone as soon as possible. At the same time, he also explained some obstacles that Fan has encountered at present. After all, it is not easy to develop a new twelve-inch wafer production line. Fan started late in this industry. Whether in terms of qualifications or technical accumulation, there is a big gap with Taiwanese electronic manufacturers.

"Although we face many obstacles and will encounter more competitors in the manufacturing of eight-inch wafers, Fan, as an international large group, will not give up his efforts in this regard, which is certain." Fan Wubing told CCTV reporters.

Just after Fan Wubing made a statement to CCTV reporters, the media noticed another detail issue, that is, Wang Rongchang, a Taiwanese businessman who cooperated with Fan Wubing, has sold his equity in Fan's chip manufacturing company and turned to other fields to invest in other fields.

This signal made many people feel that although Fan Wubing said he would continue to insist on his efforts in wafer manufacturing, Fan obviously did not make any breakthrough in twelve-inch wafer manufacturing. Otherwise, Wang Rongchang would not have chosen to launch it resolutely.
