Chapter 812 The feat of slaughtering the dragon
"China Film Group is very grateful to you,"
During the break in the set, Tina Fee came over to find Duke and said to him, "They think these will help the development of Chinese films, but it is not suitable for making movies at this stage."
Duke was not surprised to hear this, but just nodded to Tina Fei and then re-entered his work.
It has entered December, and the crew's remaining scenes at Warner Studios are just the "New York Defense War". Here Duke uses John Schwartzman's suggestion to focus on each Avengers member for aerial photography.
This is a challenge for everyone in the crew. Duke is very clear about the effect he wants, that is, the Avengers members work together, but the difficulty lies in how to put this idea into practice, so that the heroes are related to each other rather than shooting separately. Moreover, the combat skills of each character are very different. Some can fly, some can move rapidly in an instant, and some can only perform small-scale activities under one shot.
To achieve the effect, all departments of the crew need to work together.
The shooting soon kicked off. Mark Ruffalo, with a motion capture device hanging on his body and Tom Hiddleston, dressed in Rocky, appeared in front of the camera lens on time. The shooting venue in front of the camera had long been arranged as the top floor of Stark Building.
All departments have been prepared, and Duke signaled the record.
"Scene 396, Act 126,"
The field recorder placed the field recorder in front of the main camera lens, "Start now!"
Surrounded by a device designed for shooting motion capture, Mark Ruffalo made a Hulk's fury and pounded the ground, running towards Tom Hiddleston.
"Enough!" Tom Hiddleston was quite crazy, but he appropriately expressed Loki's mentality at the moment with his body movements. "What are you all? I am a god. You big green idiot, don't you want to humiliate me..."
Before he could finish his words, Tom Hiddleston fell to the ground by himself.
The shooting continued. But all the shots were directed at Mark Ruffalo, and Tom Hiddleston, who fell down, quietly exited the set according to the planned move.
In front of the camera, Mark Ruffalo was furious. He waved his right hand and kept striking the floor in the air. He even looked at the empty hand in the middle, and then walked towards the window.
As he walked, he turned around and said to the empty floor, "I have never seen such a scumbag."
After Duke called for a stop, the shot passed smoothly. Like other shootings, most of the effects of this scene depend on post-production addition.
Although Industrial Light and Magic has produced many virtual stand-ins, digital characters and alien aliens for Duke's crew, the most eye-catching special effect is the new version of the Hulk played by Mark Ruffalo.
In the first part, most of the Hulk's scenes were played by Mark Ruffalo alone, because the special effects group at that time could not capture Mark Ruffalo's body movements and facial expressions at the same time. Mark Ruffalo could only act separately. It was very painful to act like this because after filming the body action scene, he needed to sit there, his head was still moving, and perform facial movements.
But when filming this film, Industrial Light and Magic successfully came up with a way to mix head and body movements, which means that Mark Ruffalo was finally able to interact with other actors as the Hulk on the set as the Hulk.
Compared with the technology used by Industrial Light and Magic on the Hulk this time, the digital stand-in in the previous movies "The Hulk" is simply incomparable.
The first "Hulk" filmed by Annian Lee was very failed in showing Hulk's super power, huge body shape, flexible movements, wild anger and superb performances, and was criticized by the audience for its credibility in the role.
In all movie and TV versions of The Hulk, Mark Ruffalo is the first actor to play both the transformed Hulk and the gentle Professor Bruce Banner.
In "The Hulk", Hulk's motion capture was completed by Ang Lee himself, but the effect can only be said to be very average.
In the completed special effects shots, Industrial Light and Magic successfully demonstrated the most successful Hulk ever, not only with wonderful action scenes, but also with humorous elements.
In order to achieve this effect, Industrial Light and Magic adopted an advanced motion capture and new facial animation production system. The digital model was made based on Mark Ruffalo's facial solid model, and then repaired and completed the final effect in a special effect software, so the facial features of the actors were still retained.
In fact, it is not easy to make the Hulk green.
One of the problems facing Industrial Light Magic is that since the Hulk must interact with other characters, the special effects team had to reduce his color saturation to gray first, so that he would not appear too abrupt, and then re-create the green effect to increase credibility.
If he does not lower the saturation first, he will appear very abrupt and distorted.
In order to further enhance the realistic effect of the skin, the special effects team also scanned Mark Ruffalo's skin to make the mold.
Of course, Mark Ruffalo also cooperated with the work of Industrial Light and Magic and patiently endured all kinds of troubles. For example, in order to obtain data, Industrial Light and Magic also opened his mouth to scan his gums and teeth. In addition, he also processed his head in a comprehensive array of special effects, obtaining very good geometry and textures.
The set was re-arranged, and after filming a shot of Tom Hiddleston lying on the floor, all the Avengers appeared on the set together.
"The lights are ready!"
“Photography is ready!”
"Props are ready!"
“Makeup is ready!”
"The actor is ready!"
As departments prepared for it, Duke issued the order to shoot again, and the entire crew started to operate again.
Tom Hiddleston crawled out of the pit on the floor and struggled to stand up. The main camera gave him a close-up of his hands and facial expressions just right.
As if he noticed something, Tom Hiddleston looked back and the Avengers stood there, glaring at him, and Clint Patton's bow and arrow were also aimed at this side.
Faced with these freaks he had previously ridiculed as ants, Tom Hiddleston had no expression of fear on his face, but instead said, "If you don't mind, I want to have a drink first!"
"ut!" Duke stopped and then shouted to the other side of the set, "Tom, your expression is not in place, do it again in fifteen minutes."
This is already the last shot in the Warner Studios studio. The afternoon has just begun, and Duke has enough time to complete the shot and then lead the crew to New York to complete the final scene.
Most of the New York footage in the film is digitally produced. The special effects group of Industrial Light and Magic just completed Transformers 3 in the first half of the year. The digital Chicago in it is very effective because it allows helicopters to circle the streets at will, but New York is different. Duke requires that the plane cannot be 5 feet below the building, and Industrial Light and Magic had to rebuild the building to complete many shots of flying around the building.
There is also a forest battle between Thor, Iron Man and Captain America. Originally, Duke wanted to shoot in the forest park in New Mexico, but an environmental protection organization set his sights on his crew and asked the crew not to damage every grass and tree in the forest park during filming. This is obviously impossible.
Duke knew very well how troubles those extremist protectors were, so he simply completed this part of the show through green screen building in the giant studio of Hughes Aircraft Factory.
Although this will consume a little more money, it can reduce a lot of unnecessary trouble.
No Hollywood crew wants to deal with organizations like animal protection or environmental protection, which means endless troubles.
Every year, Hollywood shoots and produces hundreds of films, and there are also many mainstream productions with investments of over 100 million US dollars. Duke's crew is filming, and other companies' crews are also filming.
From California all the way south, cross the Panama Canal, you will reach South America, a land full of infinite enthusiasm, especially Rio de Janeiro, a world-famous city and one of the favorite locations for Hollywood crews.
Many crews have taken scenes here.
For example, "Fast and Furious 6", which has entered the final stage of filming, will be filmed in Rio de Janeiro.
The crew blocked several streets in Rio de Janeiro to shoot some crazy car chase scenes. As the actual investor and producer of the film, David Ellison stood on a small building nearby and was watching cars flying on the street through a telescope.
He has invested a lot of money in this film, and it has taken more than two years from preparation to now. Every detail has been carefully measured and considered. It will definitely be the most exquisitely produced film in Hollywood.
But David Ellison knew very well that these alone were far from enough. If a film was well-made, it would definitely be able to sell well, and Hollywood would sell countless movies every year.
What's more, the opponent he and the "Fast and Furious 6" are really too powerful.
To do a feat of slaying dragons, you must make enough preparations, and David Ellison is well aware of this.
So, his telescope would find Vin Diesel from time to time.
Standing next to him was David Ellison's assistant, who was the most popular person for him. The assistant's camera was also staring at the bald head on the set.
There was no one else here, the assistant asked in a low voice, "I have found the right person."
"Wait a little longer, be patient." David Ellison put down his telescope, "When all the filming of the video is completed and the publicity plan is fully launched, then take action!" (To be continued.)
Chapter completed!
