Chapter 7 The battle in the upper levels of the Weeping Cave

(Two updates are completed, friends passing by are asking for collection and recommendation. Your support is my motivation)

The Crying Cave is a huge natural cave located in the Nara Mountains in the middle of Neville, more than 300 kilometers away from the south bank of the Bayergas River. The wide Bayergas River brings rich underground water to both sides. Over the long period of time, the Nara Mountains have been washed by the underworld river for a long time and finally formed a complex crying cave like a spider web. For some unknown reasons, when the wind blows through the entrance of the cave, waves of faint sounds will appear in the cave, sounding like the crying sound of human despair, so the locals named it Crying Cave. Since the Quaternary history, it has been said that there are evil devils in the cave, and the crying sounds are caused by these creatures torture by mistake. This legend has led to few people daring to enter the cave, and occasionally brave adventurers will go in and never return.

It was not until more than 600 years ago that the mainland had been 30xx, and the number of people who went in for adventure and came out alive gradually increased, and this legend was broken. People only knew that there were no evil demons in the cave that torture humans, and the reason why adventurers fell inside before was basically because of lost and demonized creatures.

In the Yara world, sometimes a force called demonized energy flows out from the ground. If creatures come into contact with these energy for many years or at high concentrations, they will be polluted, becoming crazy, extremely aggressive, and their abilities will increase significantly. Some will also undergo changes in body shape. For this kind of demonized energy, the sealing array developed by people can seal the source of demonized energy, but the range of the source is too large, or the slowly overflowing demonized energy without a source is impossible. Fortunately, the demonized energy is extremely afraid of the sunlight. Under the sunlight, the demonized energy will be purified within a few hours. If the polluted demonized creatures are exposed to the sunlight for more than ten hours, then they will completely collapse. If not, I am afraid that the entire Yara continent will be full of demonized creatures, rather than as it is now. Only caves, underground and some places where sunlight is not seen all year round.

"It's back." Vivian, who has been wandering around all year round, changed his usual state and became focused before entering the cave. After entering the cave, he looked at the two oil lamps hanging on both sides of the cave and said: "I used to hear some seniors talking about adventure stories in class in the college. In their stories, cave exploration is like now. Oil lamps hung on both sides of the cave, or adventurers hold torches in their hands, cross various long corridors, hunting monsters or looking for treasures."

"Actually, the stories are just some abandoned mines." Panis curled his lips and said with a little disdain: "There are corridors, flat grounds, stairs or vertical ladders up and down. There is a paradise compared to the real cave."

"Can we see the real cave in a while?" Although Vivian had hardly spoken to Panis, and had not even seen Panis a few times, he was particularly close to Panis. As several people advanced in the passage, he naturally reached out and grabbed the corner of Panis's clothes.

Panis looked at Vivian in surprise, frowned and waved to open Vivian's hand: "Of course, it will be fine soon."

Vivian looked up at Panis in confusion, and flattened his mouth aggrievedly, but did not protest. He just pointed to the road ahead and said, "The front has become darker, it seems that the safety zone is coming to an end."

"Yes, there is no oil lamp ahead." Panis was still very patient with the explanation of the adventure content: "The range with the lamp belongs to the safe area, and there are almost no monsters. Even if there are, because the range close to the cave entrance is the lowest level of demonization, it is the weakest monster. The local branch of the Adventurer Guild has set up twenty oil lamps here, and usually hires a retired low-level profession or strong ordinary person to change the oil lamp every five days. Humph, you also know that in many low-level adventure areas, guilds have similar settings, and they just like to do such boring things."

"You can't say it's boring, either." Catherine, who was following behind, defended: "There are all low-level areas in this way. The guild is also to protect newcomers and reduce their losses. After all, just entering the industry, there must be an adaptation process."

"It's better to have a babysitter for each person." Panis said mockingly, but his eyes were complicated: "If they don't let themselves struggle to survive in the face of death, they won't let them experience the test of death, even if they become stronger, they are actually just a glossy waste."

Catherine shook her head, without arguing anything, silently took out a torch from her backpack and held it in her hand. Several people discussed it before leaving. Before entering the lower level of the cave, they should temporarily use the torch to light it to avoid being too unique among the low-level adventurers on the upper level.

"The guild once wanted to replace these oil lamps with crystal lanterns." Before passing the last lamp, Panis pointed to the oil lamp and said, "It's a pity that he finally gave up this idea."

"Why?" Vivian was very interested in crystal products: "It's great to use crystal lanterns. The light is stable and will not be blown out by the wind."

"The cost is too high. The minimum crystal used for lighting is 1,000 ter, and the cheapest one is 20 gold coins. Although it can be bright for three days without any care, it is much more expensive than lamp oil, so the guild people are not so stupid." As he spoke, the four people had already lit up the torches and walked into the darkness.

Darkness is the common point of most caves, and it is also one of the biggest enemies of adventurers to explore in caves. Although professionals are far more sensitive to light than ordinary people, and some races even have dim vision, these are only based on the premise that there is light but are relatively weak. For caves without light at all, neither dim vision nor extraordinary vision has any effect.

Catherine walked in front of the team with a torch, Lina and Vivian were walking in the middle, Panis was at the end of the team, and her mouth was explaining the distribution of monsters in the cave: "Walk forward and you will encounter three holes in front. On the left is the territory of the demonized rat, the middle is full of demonized bats, and on the right are the demonized scorpions. There are basically these three types of monsters in the upper layer. However, on the demonized scorpion, there are some demonized scorpion communities, which will set up some simple traps. If you are lucky enough to encounter a community with a kowtowed elder, you may also encounter a more powerful magic trap, which is very annoying. But fortunately, the lower layer entrance has to go to the left, and it is not far away, so you don't have to be entangled with the mice for too long. By the way, you should have seen the demonized rat last time, how do you feel?"

"Fortunately, the three of us are not afraid of rats, but unfortunately we have a task and don't have time to collect the magic rat tail, otherwise we can make some money by the way."

Catherine's casual answer made Panis relieved, pointing to the front and said, "Be careful, the first group is here. We must speed up our progress, otherwise the more rat groups gather, it will be useless."

The demonized rat is the most common monster in the crying cave. Under the pollution of the demonized energy, the body generally grows to the length of human calves, and sharp teeth can bite off solid wood as thick as an arm in one bite. The leader-level demonized rat is even more than the length of a domestic dog and can easily chew on metal. From a distance, more than 20 demonized rats were laid into one piece, sticking to the ground like a carpet to charge at the four people frantically.

"There is no leader." Catherine said to herself, but she didn't move. Vivian was moving. She took out a bottle of orange potion from her pocket, gently wiped her fingers at the mouth of the bottle, and quickly said something in her mouth, and threw the crystal bottle at the group of rats.

The crystal bottle drew a beautiful arc in the air, just as it landed on the way forward of the group of rats, and shattered in the center of the group of rats. With the crisp sound of crystal shattering, a ball of flame exploded from the drop point of the bottle and suddenly expanded to the surroundings in a ring shape. It burned for more than ten seconds before it was extinguished, leaving a burning mark on the ground. The impact of the flame explosion seemed very strong, and most of the mice became scattered in the explosion, with only two or three strongest ones, who dragged their limbs and snorted for a few seconds, and then died completely in the continuous burning of the flames.

Seeing Panis staring at him in a daze, Vivian, who had just wiped out a group of demon rats, looked down at him, but did not notice anything unusual, and couldn't help asking, "What's wrong? Is there anything wrong with me?"

Panis stared at Vivian's small pocket thoughtfully, and after a long time, he asked: "I'm thinking, what should I do if you took the wrong potion?"

"Hahaha, it's impossible." Vivian slapped his clothes and said with a smile: "It's impossible to get it wrong, because all the pockets are filled with the same potion." Looking at Panis's speechless expression, Vivian smiled even more proudly: "I lied to you, who made you dare to open my hand just now, now I know I'm afraid."

Panis sighed with headache, covering his forehead and not daring to continue the conversation. He pointed to the distance in front of him and reminded: "Be careful, another group is coming."

"No problem." Seeing that there was a huge leader among the forty or fifty magic rats this time, Vivian took out another bottle of white potion and threw it out with the same action. The potion also exploded in the center of the rat group, but this time it appeared with a ball of ice. The impact range of the ice was much larger than that of the flame, and the impact force was much weaker than that of the flame explosion, but it had a freezing effect. More than half of the magic rats were frozen into ice by the cold air and shattered under the subsequent shock wave. Only the leader and a few magic rats with higher resistance were not completely frozen and escaped the fate of shattering, but were still affected by the freezing effect, and their speed became less than one-quarter of the previous ones.

Before the crystal bottle landed, Catherine shouted softly and launched a fearless charge. The body wrapped in the silver chain armor turned into a silver stream of light, and the black hair flew in the stream of light. As soon as the impact of ice disappeared, Catherine had appeared beside the leader's magic rat, stabbed out like a one-handed sword spirit snake, penetrated into the leader's huge mouth and stabbed directly into the back of his head, and then quickly pulled out. The speed of in and out was so fast that the leader didn't even have time to close his mouth. Kill the leader, Catherine took advantage of the momentum of drawing the sword and let the sword draw an arc around her. A full moon slash was released with the momentum, and the arc-shaped sword energy followed the sword, and the living magic rat died completely under the sword.
