"This house was the wedding house when my great-grandfather and great-grandmother got married. Later, no matter how bad the family was, I never thought of selling this house. I didn't even think about renting it out. I just didn't expect that today, I would think of selling the furniture in the house. This cabinet was used by my great-grandmother back then, and it was a wedding gift given to her by my great-grandmother. My great-grandmother liked this cabinet very much. But I was not very interested in this black furniture, and it took more than a day or two to deal with it. When you suggested, the first thing I remembered in my mind was it. Although I don't know what its origin is, looking at the pattern on it, I guess it must have a lot to do with your motherland, right? I think you should like this cabinet very much."
Diana stood at the door, leaning against the door frame and said, with a wry smile on the corner of her mouth as she spoke. I guess what she said might not be the truth.
But whether what she said was true was Jin Muchen so much that he didn't care. His current attention was already attracted by the Wanli cabinet of the red sandalwood in front of him.
Rosewood is a precious wood. Whether it is antiques or modern products from the past, now it can be taken out by one, and it depends on the material itself, and it depends on the size of the utensil itself.
I think that if I have such a big cabinet, the rosewood material on my body can be over tens of millions even if it is a modern product.
What's more, this is an antique. The dark light emitted from the cabinet is almost blinding Jin Muchen. With this light alone, Jin Muchen concluded that this cabinet is a rare good thing.
In ancient Chinese history, there were several collection crazes. The first was in the Northern Song Dynasty, and the second was in the late Ming Dynasty. It was also the national collection craze that emerged during the late Ming Dynasty, which led to the emergence of the Wanli Cabinet.
It is said that the Wanli Cabinet is a furniture variety specially produced because Emperor Shenzong of the Ming Dynasty likes to collect and appreciate antiques.
Later, the furniture became popular among the princes and nobles of the Ming Dynasty and became a very popular cabinet that specialized in the collection of antiques and valuables.
However, the name "Wanli Cabin" was called Kailai, not during the Wanli period, but in the late Qing Dynasty, the descendants who also liked to collect were named and spread after they were summarized.
The Wanli Cabinet is actually one of the various styles of bright grid cabinets. Its style is relatively fixed. There is a layer of bright grid at the top and a cabinet in the middle. The cabinet has no footprints, and there is another shorter one under the cabinet supporting it.
The upper layer has a back panel, and the transparent area on the upper layer is for displaying antiques. The structure of the upper grid and lower cabinet makes its center of gravity lower and stable placement. It can be placed in a study or hall, so even in the Qing Dynasty, it was a kind of elegant ware that was very popular among literati and poets.
However, the Wanli cabinets in the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty were mostly made of yellow rosewood, and the colors were mostly brown-yellow. Like the one in front of me, a large number of red sandalwood were used as materials, and the cabinets were also carved with various patterns, which was rare.
At least it does not exist in the historical records of the Ming Dynasty.
The records of this type of cabinet appeared in the Qing Dynasty, and it was related to the Emperor Qianlong who liked to collect.
This Wanli cabinet can definitely be described as magnificent according to the size of the instrument.
Made of selected large red sandalwood materials. The cabinet roof and the back cabinet board are covered with gray, the shape is stable, the proportion is symmetrical, the materials used for the cabinet and the top box are comparable, and the frame is connected by shoulders and tenon.
The front is flat, and the side mountain is bulging. It is equipped with a latch rod and a cabinet. The door panel and side mountain board are grooved and equipped with cross-bands to prevent cracking and deformation.
There are cages in the middle of the vertical cabinet, two drawers are installed, tooth plates are installed between the feet, and copper boots are worn on the end of the feet.
Moreover, the copper-faced pages and tags of this cabinet are quite particular, with elegant shapes and exquisite engraving patterns. They are both rich in decorative effects and have a strong contrast with the color of the rosewood cabinet, which can dilute the dullness given by large furniture.
What makes this cabinet most amazing is the size of the cabinet, the high relief of the eight cabinet doors and the cabinet chamber erected plates.
These relief craftsmanship are so pure and exquisite, with a traditional, simple and orderly layout, giving people a shocking power of dignity and majesty.
It also uses the technique of "shuo ground" high relief, which is a unique technique of "working with big red sandalwood" in the Qing Dynasty.
To put it more details, it is to flatten the base outside the pattern to make the pattern appear and have a strong three-dimensional sense. Compared with the "ground-raising" relief method of ordinary hardwood furniture, the same pattern requires multiple times of working hours.
Moreover, these relief bases are as flat as mirrors, and this technique is definitely not something that ordinary craftsmen can do.
The eight door panels and the two cabinets have high reliefs, five-clawed cloud dragons, either bowing their heads or peeping down. The dragon's body is swaying and turning, with a majestic spirit, dragon claws and crossbows, agile and powerful, and the teeth between the feet are carved with sea water and river cliffs, majestic and about to emerge.
The dragon head is full, with its horns raised, its hair is flying, its body is gentle, its scales are flattering, and its claws are open and crossbow are all carefully carved. Each cloud dragon pattern is independent and echoes each other. The two dragon dragon heads on each cabinet door are slightly higher than the door frame, which is consistent with the cabinet body and a look of looking around. A total of nine dragons are simile, which is simile of the nine fives and is majestic in all directions.
In addition to this Kowloon, the classic European "passion fruit" pattern is also used as the main carving pattern, which is winding and winding up with the dragon's shape, is lively and natural, and is in the same line as the Western architectural style in the Old Summer Palace. This passion fruit pattern was very popular during the Qianlong period.
The cabinet in front of him made Jin Muchen look intoxicated. Not to mention the rosewood material used in this cabinet, the carvings on this cabinet made Jin Muchen unable to extricate himself. After only looking at it for a while, Jin Muchen had already made a decision in his heart that he would make up for this cabinet.
If you remember correctly, this cabinet should have been specially made by Emperor Qianlong in the summer of 1775.
He even wrote a poem "Function of Passion Fruit" on the inside of the cabinet door to specifically chant his love for the passion fruit pattern. These were clearly recorded in the Qing Dynasty palace chronicles.
He opened the cabinet door and looked carefully. Sure enough, he saw the song "Function of Passion Floral" behind the cabinet door of Mou Yishuang: The flower list is a lotus, and it is not called water planting, but is called lotus. It is not found in China. Who is called "Function"?
That's right, this must be the cabinet. I really didn't expect that I could see him here today.
After Qianlong was out of his mind, his unworthy descendant Jiaqing moved many things that Qianlong loved into the Old Summer Palace in order to erase the influence of the Supreme Emperor in the palace, including the cabinet that Qianlong loved the most.
When Qianlong was alive, this cabinet was placed in his imperial study, which specially placed some of his favorite antiques. When he was leisurely, he would open the cabinet, take out the treasures inside to enjoy and play with them.
Unexpectedly, it became a decoration in the Old Summer Palace later.
Later, this fine product that combines Chinese and Western styles disappeared after the British and French forces looted the Old Summer Palace. Unexpectedly, it was only released in front of me today. This is really a very unusual fate!
Jin Muchen looked at Qianlong's imperial calligraphy on the cabinet door, and finally closed the cabinet door reluctantly. However, just before closing the cabinet door, he saw that under a chamber plate under the cabinet, there was only a flash of red light, followed by a yellow light, and then there was a flash of purple light.
This continuous flashing pearly treasure aura shocked Jin Muchen. Outsiders may not be able to see the pearly treasure aura here, but these pearly treasure auras cannot be hidden from Jin Muchen's eyes.
He turned around and looked at Diana. At this time, she was looking out the window absent-mindedly, so he reached out and knocked quietly in the place where the jewels flashed. The wooden board made a light empty sound. Jin Muchen knew that there might be a secret square in it, and maybe there was something hidden inside. Diana obviously didn't know about this situation.
This reminded him of the situation when he collected the gold medal of Jesse Owens. The gold medal was hidden in a dark grid in the phonograph. If it weren't for the golden light flashing from the gold medal, he would have missed the treasure.
And this time, the situation is basically the same.
He did not rush to open the secret compartment, but closed the cabinet door, then took out a tape measure like a look, and began to measure the size of the Rosewood Wanli Cabinet.
This cabinet is about 1.8 meters wide and 3.25 meters high. This is really amazing. Such a large rosewood cabinet and so many exquisite carvings. Not to mention its royal identity, just this material and carving work alone will be tens of millions!
If he was counted as Qianlong’s imperial identity, if this cabinet was taken back to China, it would be worth at least about 100 million yuan.
Poor that such a good special cabinet for Chinese antiques was actually used as a wardrobe by this foreigner. It was really a waste of resources!
Jin Muchen took a deep breath, calmed down his mood, and then turned to Diana and said.
"Diana is a top-notch antique Chinese wardrobe with very good materials, carvings, and maintenance. I plan to accept it."
"Okay, how much are you planning to do?"
Diana's straightforwardness surprised Jin Muchen, but soon he adjusted his emotions and tentatively gave a quote.
"Five million...dollars..."
"No, at least eight million dollars."
