989: The call that changed the league landscape

A bald middle-aged man is carefully studying the itinerary of his biggest customer this summer.

Obviously, this is a complicated job. The man frowned and looked very tired.

At this time, basketball fans all over the world were enjoying the ultimate battle between the Grizzlies and the Warriors. But as a basketball fan, he had no mind and had not finished his work.

Looking at the complicated itinerary, the middle-aged man rubbed his temples and then took a look at the tattoo on his arm.

On his arm, he had the Chinese characters "Patience". He was only 19 years old when he was tattooing these characters, and he had the Chinese characters in Miami.

Whenever he encounters any trouble, he will look down at his tattoo and look at these two Chinese characters.

Then, he was able to calm down and concentrate on his work.

This trick has been tried and done for decades.

The middle-aged man finally calmed down and prepared to continue working, but his cell phone rang out of time.

"Damn!" The man irritably shook his mouse and took out the phone. He was ready to scold the person who called.

But when he saw the caller ID on the phone, the man's anger disappeared in an instant. Because the call was the biggest customer he served.

"Kevin, what's wrong? Haven't you been sleeping yet so late?"

The Kevin in the man's mouth is Kevin Durant, the super scorer who was reimbursed for injury this season!

"The Grizzlies won, Ritchie. They won the Warriors, 4-1, and Link is going to the Finals again." Durant's voice was very low and he looked unhappy.

"Is that right... I really don't know what to say. They actually won when Link was injured." Ritchie Clayman, who had a Chinese tattoo on his arm, curled his lips.

He believes that Durant must be in a bad mood now. On the surface, the Grizzlies and the Warriors' Western Conference Finals seem to have nothing to do with Durant who is recovering from his injuries at home.

But as Durant's manager, as his partner and friend, Ritchie Clayman knew that the last thing Durant wanted to see was Link winning.

"He succeeded again, didn't he?" Durant smiled self-deprecatingly. As a star who has attracted much attention since entering the league, he still has 0 MVPs and the number of championship rings.

What about Link, who lost the draft? Two consecutive MVPs, two championship rings. Now, he is working towards the third one.

Durant found that he was gradually drifting away from the Link whom he looked down upon at the beginning.

The gap between him and Link is getting bigger and bigger.

He felt that he was really incredibly defeated. In the 11-12 season, when the Thunder entered the finals and confronted the Heat, he thought he was about to usher in the peak of his career. He thought he was about to taste the taste of a championship.

What's the result? Until now, he hasn't even touched the edge of the championship!

This year, he could only watch Link move towards victory and success on the sofa at home.

As Link's nemesis, he is really, very unhappy. Because if Link wins again this year, he will be completely thrown away by Link!

In front of the dynasty established by Link, the titles of scoring kings and super scorers will become worthless!

Why is only Link able to rule this era? Why is only him able to win?

Why do I just have a supporting role every time I am!?

Durant was very unwilling and very depressed. After the game between the Grizzlies and the Warriors, the text message he accidentally received made him think of making some changes.

I can't continue to let Link go, and I will continue to rule like this!

"Success? No, they still have the finals to play. Kevin LeBron is in very good shape this year. Who will succeed in the end? But it may not be certain." Ritchie Kleman continued to comfort him. Durant is in a bad mood now, so he just said it.

"No, I don't think so. The Cleveland Cavaliers...maybe they are not strong enough." Durant is not a three-year-old, and he can't be coaxed in just a few words.

"Even so, you will get the opportunity to challenge Link next season. It doesn't matter, we still have time, we have a long way."

"Next season... are you saying that in Oklahoma, can I still get a chance? I have lost confidence, Ritchie. To Oklahoma, to the team's management, to..." Durant paused, but decided to continue, "... To Russell Westbrook, I have lost confidence!"

Durant said, looking at the text message in his hand. The text message was sent by Draymond Green after the game between the Grizzlies and the Warriors.

The content is just one sentence, "Do you see what we are missing? We need you, come on."

But this simple sentence made Durant have some different ideas.

Oklahoma? Who said he must beat Link in Oklahoma?

Can Oklahoma succeed? They were willing to let James Harden go for millions of dollars. The finals lineup was disbanded, and there were no successful signings for so many years.

Can Oklahoma succeed? Russell Westbrook's mistake of being muddy seems to never be able to change in his life. Every critical moment or critical game, Westbrook will always lose his chain.

His mind became hot, and even Durant himself couldn't touch the ball, so he could only watch him destroy the game again and again!

Can Oklahoma succeed? Without itself this year, the Thunder did not even make the playoffs! Durant believes that if the same situation is put on the Grizzlies, the Grizzlies will not even be able to make the playoffs.

If Oklahoma cannot succeed, will he continue to watch Link ride on his head like this?

The more I think about this, the more indignant Durant becomes.

Maybe the way to defeat Link is not in Oklahoma.

Where is it? Durant doesn't know, but at least Oakland looks more like a place with answers.

"What do you mean, Kevin?" Ritchie Clayman found something was wrong. Durant seemed to be more than just a bad mood.

"It's nothing, I just want to discuss with you and discuss this summer. Next season will be the last year of my contract with the Thunder. But if I remember correctly... we have the player option, and we have the right to jump out of the last year contract."

"Breaking out of the contract? Are you serious? This is not in our plan!" Ritchie Clayman swallowed, if Durant really jumped out of the contract this summer...

That will definitely trigger a major earthquake!

As Durant's manager, he is even more busy this summer.

"I haven't decided yet, so I want to discuss with you and start planning from today. I think maybe it's a good thing for me to make some changes now."

"Why did you suddenly have this idea?"

"Because I'm tired of Link being the protagonist league, Ritchie. He has won enough, and next, it's time to change me!"

"Tell me, do you already have a place you like?" Ritchie Clayman guessed that someone should have skipped him and got in touch with Durant directly.

"Not yet, but if you have to count, Auckland will be a favorite place."

“Oakland!?”

Ritchie Clayman took a deep breath. The phone call he made inadvertently with Durant is likely to be a phone call that changed the entire league structure...

First, James returned to Cleveland last year, and now Durant.
