The general of the Eastern Han Dynasty, whose courtesy name is Yiliao, is from Anling (now northeast of Xianyang, Shaanxi). The son of Ban Chao was born in the Western Regions. After escaping, the front and rear divisions of Cheshi were thus settled. In the second year, Ban Yong and Dunhuang prefect Zhang Lang jointly fought against Yanqi and agreed on the date of arrival at the same time. Zhang Lang wanted to seek credit alone, so he arrived in Yanqi first, and Yanqi surrendered. Ban Yong was punished in the later period, was sentenced to prison, and was later dismissed. Later, he died at home. During the Eastern Han Dynasty, the Western Regions were three distinctions, and Ban Yong was promoted to the Western Regions with the Chief Secretary, and since then he never died.
