The reason why forging plants and bathhouses are built next to coking plants is because current technology can only achieve short-distance safe transportation.
Although it is indeed possible to manufacture heavy steel tanks for storing coal gas, and the steam engine can also push the piston to pressurize the gas and fill it into the steel tank, it is not cost-effective to store high-calorie fuel such as gas so much. And there is another problem, that is, the current steel machining capabilities are very weak, and steel tanks like this can only be directly formed by casting - just like the party's patriotic cannon.
But casting is also a profound science. Even later generations cannot completely avoid casting defects. It is even hard to say what the quality of casting parts is now. For example, the casting cannons of the Party and the country are used in fear. Every time they fire a gun, they have to check whether there are cracks in the cannon body, and summarize the problems that cannons are prone to casting, let alone steel tanks that store high-pressure gas.
Therefore, now Dang Aiguo has only made a few roughly qualified steel tanks, which are used when it is necessary to temporarily store hydrogen and oxygen produced by electrolysis.
